Hi!
Thankfully, that's probably the most exciting thing that's happened to me on the job, and hopefully it stays that way. Honestly, 90% of my job is telling grown adults to stop acting like children (and that includes the officers, sometimes).
Speaking of my job, I'm eligible for the next promotion exam and I signed up for it, but now I am thinking I'm not gonna do it. Pros: More $, higher rank, new experiences. Cons: Way more stress, I would have to be moved to a different station (and I have no idea where I could end up), my schedule most likely would change and be out of my hands, I would lose my seniority, and I would lose my union benefits. I just don't think I could handle that much change while dealing with a newborn (um, did I mention I am KU again? Yes. NT scan was excellent this time, and I'm still waiting on genetic test results, but I have a good feeling). When I had Liam, we had just bought a house, moved, my father got sick and died soon after and my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a mastectomy. Oh and my husband relapsed and had to go to rehab. It was a LOT of change in a short amount of time, and on top of the PPA, it almost killed me. I don't think I could make such a huge change in my career right now (and it would be a huge change). I just want to have this baby without freaking out. I have it fairly easy right now. I have a good schedule, including 3 days off a week. I know my job and I'm good at it. I like where I work and most of the people I work with.
On the other hand, I'm fairly competitive and it will kill me to see folks I've been working with promoted ahead of me. I'm good at my job, and I know that given time, I would be really good at the new job too. But, there will be other opportunities and promotional exams. I'm pretty sure I've made my decision not to take the test, I just need to be at peace with it (but I already bought the books! I signed up! Other people are talking about it! I told my family I was doing it!)

Will try that next Betweenthelines! If it is eczema, I'm just hoping it's not like my brother's. He still has it really bad at 19. But he also doesn't take care of it very well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The honest balm works amazing on my DS eczema spots too. I use it on my feet. It's all around good stuff.

Has anyone watched the new Netflix series about bugs for kids. It's ok but the music is great. I've had all you need is love in my head for days.
ETA: beat bugs

girlonabike congratulations!!! I don't have much advice re: job situation but staying where you are until a less stressful time sounds like a solid plan to me. I'm so happy to see you here! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

girlonabike! Congrats!!! When are you due? I'm so glad the NT Scan was clear! Sounds like the promotion would be a great thing after the little one arrives, that's a lot of uncertainty to go into right before having a baby. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

girlonabike congrats on the pregnancy!! The less stress will likely be a good thing once you have two young ones in the house. Im competitive too so I understand that aspect, but I would have made the same decision as you. Is this the kind of thing you pass on and it's off the table forever?

I think it launched here yesterday. We are 3 episodes in and the kids love it. DD sings along to some songs and it's toooo cute ❤️

I'm a huge Beatles fan, so this was right up our alley.

Hmm. Spent the day looking into the project management professional certification and I already have all of the hours and education, minus one online course. I don't know how I didn't know about this before?!

girlonabike Congrats on baby #2! I also agree with holding off on writing the exam for promotion. The chance will definitely come up again, and I totally get being competitive, but our babies are only young once and for such a short time. You want to enjoy it.

Betweenthelines so advice but good luck with the pros/cons list. I can appreciate why it is such a challenging decision. Hopefully the interview goes well.
