I lived out there for 3 years and forget how hot that even is lol This is DS's last week of school here in MA. My parents are coming over for dinner tomorrow- they live in SC but came up to visit my 90 year old grandmother. Not sure yet if I will cook for them, I don't mind but they prefer to get seafood and other restaurants they don't have back home.

Last week of school here and a busy work week for me and DH. Tire pressure light came on in the van during school drop-off this morning, I was able to take it straight to the shop but I had to leave it there because they couldn't get to it right away so I made a very unexpected 30 minute uphill walk home in leopard print leggings, flip flops, and an orange a white striped t-shirt. My colleague calls it "power clashing" LOL. I was definitely not expecting to have to do this walk of shame this morning.

It’s the first week of summer break and the first week of a ‘time study’ at work where we are being tasked with logging every activity we do in our standard work day. Neither are going particularly well.

DS started camp today at the university rec center. He was so clingy at drop-off, but I haven't heard anything today so I'm assuming he's fine. But UGH I hate those kinds of drop-offs.
Supposed to have baseball tonight if the fields aren't swamps. We're already playing two weeks past what we were supposed to in order to make up all of the rainouts.

I just need to get through the next few days and then a few more when I get back. In the meantime? Full malicious compliance is the name of the game.

Does anyone have experience getting progressive lenses from Costco's optical department? I had my eye exam on Saturday and one of the tests triggered a migraine and I didn't feel well enough to look at new frames and figured I'd give Costco a shot and see if they are cheaper there.

I’ve gotten 5 or 6 pairs of glasses from Costco and couldn’t be happier with them.

I do and thus far they are the best progressives I have gotten X 2 different orders in fall 2022 and fall 2023(prior lenses were through my eye doctor’s store and Walmart vision). I am sold on Costco vision for the rest of my days.

trueblue, my first real job out of college asked us to do that... I was young/ inexperienced/ naive and didn't understand what it was for so I marked about a week straight of "miscellaneous admin" rather than actual client billable hours. My managers apparently didn't realize I didn't have any work to do and I sure as heck wasn't asking for any so I was just honestly doing nothing all day and not telling anyone. I still don't know if it's considered fired or laid off but I was asked to leave. That was my "shit you're a grown up now" wake up call and I've been an excellent employee for 16 years since. (but yea that totally sucks they are making you do that!)

We are in Orlando at universal studios this week. It feels like 106 degrees. I overserved myself at the pool today and decided we will door dash dinner. DS1 rented a guitar for the hotel room, so he is content.

MH accidentally bought cotton candy grapes instead of regular ones, so now I have terrible tasting grapes that unbelievably cost ten dollars.

At my old job my boss casually mentioned tracking our time in 6 minute increments on our timesheets and I was like yea, no. You don’t pay me enough for my 6 minutes to be worth tracking.
I do not miss filling out time sheets.

Last week of school here too, last day is Wednesday. My kid was quite emotional today after school. For several months she's been quite excited about being a second grader but today it was all about missing her current teacher and not wanting first grade to be over.

When I learned the system at my new job I could have cried!

i had to fire someone who was on a performance plan bc he DID have stuff to do and it took for-freaking-ever to get it done. so part of his plan included a time study and he - knowing his job was on the line - was actually entering two-hour lunches and multiple hours of "non productivity time"
bro.

When I got here and my boss was like- no you don't have to be here exactly at 9am, I still felt like I was doing something wrong for moooonths.

The next two weeks are wildly busy for us at work and then I realized that my big kid has a half day Thursday and is done with school so home on Friday, and then next week each of my kids has a day off from camp/daycare but on different days so I'll only have three real work days. 😭

That's bold. those actual factual words in large blocks of time on a color coded spreadsheet - literally had a color for non-working time that encompassed long lunches and "non productivity time" so all i had to do was look at the colors. this was not a new adult either. he was older than i am and i'm in my 40s
