Yes and only $10 if I can’t get a referral credit before that. Which it’s $23 on Amazon If you need a referral link, I got you! I’ll send you mine. I didn’t know if you could use one if you already have an account. Happy to help if you think it will work. I have an account! I’m trying to get my sister to sign up

I just read an article that Hulu is definitely coming out with a televised version of The Testaments, the sequel novel to The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood. It is set 15 years after the ending of Handmaid’s Tale, which still hasn’t happened.
I have been watching HT. Apparently the 6th and finale season was supposed to be filmed in 2023 with a fall premiere in 2024, but that got pushed back due to the strikes. Now shooting won’t be happening until summer 2024 with a premiere of 2025. It’s been …. a long journey. I read and enjoyed The Testaments when it came out in 2019. I did not read HT.

How much is Book if the Month? Do you just pay monthly? In the US it is $15.99 for one credit a month. If you don’t use that credit, you can save it for the next month, or until you next want to use it. Add on books are $10.99 each. You can get up to 5 books in a box (some people have more than one account for this reason, if they know that they will often want more than 5 books). You can also pay a price per year. It works out to be cheaper than the price of one book per month, but that way you are obviously paying for almost a book each month. If you are someone that you know you would buy each month, and you can afford it all at once, it’s probably the better plan. I have no problem with skipping so for me, paying per month is the better option.

How much is Book if the Month? Do you just pay monthly? I started it during Covid when libraries shut down and I’ve been doing it since. I do the monthly pay I think it’s $17 with the tax and I get a hardback. Some months like this month I love a bunch of options and get more and some months I don’t necessarily know of any of the books but it’s gotten me reading new authors and genres. After you get 12 books (so a year if you don’t skip any months) you become a BFF and get a free book for your birthday month and one of the book of the year books in February for free. The books are usually a variety of thrillers, contemporary books, historical and romance but not always.

I finished Just For the Summer last night. Once I got into it I had a hard time putting it down. It was excellent and covered some tough subject matter very well. It’s probably my second favorite of hers with Part of Your World still being my top Abby Jimenez book.

It’s so easy to root for them. {Spoiler} Minus the always having to move Emma is me. My biological mom has some MH issues she never got diagnosed or help with and was never really in my life after the age of 6 minus a few months after my dad passed when I was 18. She was in my older sister’s life though. So I felt for Emma and the constantly looking for love and validation but feeling unloved means you feel you aren’t good enough to love.

I DNF Any Man and started listening to Saving Noah, another one I've been wanting to read but my library doesn't have.
It's already making me feel a way but I don't dislike it. I kind of expected to feel like this due to reviews I've seen so it's all good so far

I forgot that I had checked out a physical copy of The New Couple in 5B and its due back soon so I've started that. Not sure what to think yet.
My daughter is a freshman in high school and loves to read. She's currently re-reading the Percy Jackson series and picked up a new book from Target the other day. Her other pick was The Fine Print because one of her friends said it was so good. And now she's asked if we can order the Twisted Love series while Target has their buy 2 get 1 promotion.
So, would I be buying her pure smut or are they not that bad? I've always said I'd rather she read about sex than be watching it online (or having it), but maybe she should wait a couple of years for some of these reads.

This is really interesting to me, because the show is going in a WAY different direction than the (original) book did, and I was thinking there was no way they would attempt to tie in The Testaments. Hmm…

bearfootzcontinued, Has she done the summer I turned pretty or the boys I loved before series Or any of the current mysteries like One of us is lying She read the summer I turned pretty series, and had read a few books that seem a bit more adult so it’s not that she’s too immature - but I don’t even think she wants too much romance or sex in a book. What’s funny is she was judging Icebreaker and other books based on their covers - because why would anyone want to read books with people on the cover? Clearly she didn’t grow up with aunts who read the smut with shirtless men and cleavage bearing women on the cover.

Hmm… Interesting! Coincidentally, my library had their annual used book sale today. Since I prefer my kindle by far, and use the library for all of my reading besides my subscription boxes, even at amazing prices, I mostly go to these just to look around at what’s there. I’ll maybe grab a physical copy of a book I’ve already read but absolutely loved, and I want on my bookshelf, or something I’ve sort of wanted to read for years, but don’t really care too much if I don’t get around to reading it. Anyway, The Handmaid’s Tale was there, and having just mentioned it here the other day, I took it as a sign that I should get it. I also got A Thousand Splendid Suns, which I’ve been wanting to read for a long time, especially after reading and loving The Kite Runner. The best part is that when I got home and went to put it on my bookshelf, guess what I found? Another used copy of A Thousand Splendid Suns, and I most definitely bought it one year ago at this same exact sale 😂🤪🙈 I better read the damn book before I end up with 3 copies next year.

JJ Watt (former Texan football player) tweeting/instagramming his journey with the ACOTAR series that his soccer player wife made him read is killing me. Absolutely hilarious but relatable how he went from Team Tamlin to Team Rhys real quick,

I finished she’s not sorry and I want my time back.
It was so clunky. The first part dragged and then everything was thrown at you at once and yet never really answered anything and it was just too much.
I got a big chunk of Daughter of mine read too and am interested

I finished The Fox Wife by Yangsze Choo over the weekend and I absolutely loved it. It takes place in 1908 China (and a little in Japan), and follows two people on a coinciding journey - Snow, a woman who is seeking revenge on those who caused her young child's death, and Bao, an investigator looking into a mysterious death of a young woman. The story revolves heavily around the fox myths of Chinese folklore, and is beautifully written. Highly recommend.

I’m giving The New Couple in 5B 3.5 stars, rounded down to 3. Not a bad read but nothing I'd go out of my way to recommend. I think the proofreaders should have given a closer look because there were a couple of errors. I’m not sure why this bothers me so much.

But when I mentioned I was afraid they’d be too spicy my mother in law offered to take them off our hands and read them first.

I’ve finished 5 books this month and the first 4 were all meh. It was disappointing because they were all books I was looking forward to: No One Can Know, Old Flames and New Fortunes, Everyone is Watching, and How to Solve Your Own Murder. All 3 star reads for me.
I just finished the Vacancy in Room 10 and I loved this one. Definitely one of my favorite thrillers I’ve read this year. It was just super fun and kept me guessing. I loved all the characters and it was genuinely funny in places, which is rare for a thriller. 4.5 stars.

I finished Good Half Gone. I wasn’t happy with the end and I basically guessed everything She is hit or miss for me. I started Just for the summer and I’m enjoying it. I love the characters already and relate to Emma and the mom stuff I keep going back and forth on the male characters in this one Brad the human is such a tool in the first couple of chapters but suddenly he's retiling the bathroom and sending them to Great Wolf Lodge? Maybe he is one of those guys who is an idiot but listens to their SO's advice. I really enjoy the banter between Emma and Justin. And I want to kick Amber.

The only genre I would never read is smutty romance. Romance isn’t really my thing anyway but reading detailed sex scenes makes me cringe. I’m feeling attacked lol. My least favorite genre is probably cozy mystery. But I’ll read pretty much anything. Recent reads were the latest J.D. Robb. Pretty much a letdown. I also read The Soulmate and hated it. Oh I liked The Soulmate lol
