It's April! Spring is coming and lots of new books are being released. How was March for your reading? What are you looking forward to reading in April?
Also for everyone with Amazon Prime I highly recommend the movie, American Fiction. It's got some great points about African American literature and how it's perceived but it's also just a very good movie with some nice humor as well. H and I really enjoyed it.

I read 9 books in March. I started the Oddjobs series which is pretty weird but I really enjoy and I have two books left in that series which I'm looking forward to reading this month. My other favorites were The Last Murder at the End of the World which is by the same author who wrote The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle but I enjoyed this one much more. And The Anxious Generation was also a favorite although it was more scary/depressing in terms of social media and its serious effects on children but it motivated me to be even more strict with my kids and to stop making so many exceptions even though it makes them angry. March was a good reading month for me.

March was a slower month for me which is fine. I think I only finished like 2 or 3 books. Iโm not really worried because I am already way ahead of my usual reading schedule.
I am currently reading Empire of the Vampire. Itโs taking me some time but I am eager to get through it. I have some other books on deck that I am pretty excited about.

March was pretty good with 18. Although some of that speed was forced on me by a bunch of holds coming at once. I had a couple 4.5 and 5 stars, which was nice.
The Traitor 3.5โญ๏ธ The Prophet 2โญ๏ธ Lincoln in the Bardo 2โญ๏ธ The House in the Pines 3โญ๏ธ Rebecca 3.5โญ๏ธ House of Flame and Shadow 5โญ๏ธ Murder Road 3.5โญ๏ธ End of Story 3.5โญ๏ธ Interesting Facts About Space 4.5โญ๏ธ A Grave Robbery 4.5โญ๏ธ The Secret Keeper of Jaipur 3โญ๏ธ The Helsinki Affair 4โญ๏ธ Supercommunicators 3.5โญ๏ธ All Systems Red 5โญ๏ธ The Frozen River 5โญ๏ธ The One and Only Ivan 4.5โญ๏ธ The Family Upstairs 3.5โญ๏ธ The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store 3.5โญ๏ธ
In April Iโm looking forward to The Great Divide, the new Rebecca Serle, and hopefully a couple more in the MurderBot series.

I had a crappy March. All 3 stars, nothing great. Last night I finished The Missing Hours which was a Blind Date With A Book I received. It started out great and I powered through the first 100+ pages in a day, but man did the ending half suck. I need something good this month.

March was a bit slow for me in terms of finishing books. Lots of great reads but juat really busy. My favorites were Yellowface and As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow. I am in the middle of All the Little Raindrops and it is WILD (all the CWs, for real). I can't decide whether I hate it or if it's just too scary.

I only finished 9 books in March. Slow month for me.
Bride Absolutely Not In Love The Fifth Season A Groom Of One's Own My Lucky Charm The Obelisk Gate The Fall Back Plan Faking It With The Grump Academically Yours
I should have the third and final book in the broken earth series done today or tomorrow. Those books have been very slow read for me, with the made up language, and world building being hard to wrap my brain around visually, I've been reading slowly and rereading a bit as I go too.
There's quite a bit I'm looking forward to this month, so hopefully I can read a bit faster.

Definitely not going to hit my 175 books goal this year, I'm slacking. Only 8 books for March, but to be fair, two were The Empyrean series, so long.
Dead to the World, Charlaine Harris Calculated in Death, J.D. Robb Fourth Wing, Rebecca Yarros Born of Night, Sherrilyn Kenyon A Touch of Dead, CH Iron Flame, RY Eleven on Top, Janet Evanovich

March was an ok month for me. I feel like nothing really grabbed me and i read slower than usual but everything was decent. I finished 7 books, i did start The Hunting Party on audio but only got 25% in before the load expired. The Chaos Agent (Gray Man 13) - 4 stars Neon Gods - 4 stars The Burnout - 3 stars Bride - 4 stars Agent of Chaos - 3 stars Golden Son (Red Rising 2) - 4 stars A Fate Inked in Blood - 4 stars
I'm going to start Morning Star (Red Rising 3) today and I started City of Brass on audio over the weekend but only got an hour or so in.

I finished 5 books in the month of March, would have been more but I had a book hangover after reading The Women and went 1.5 weeks without reading.
The Paris Apartment - 3 stars Finlay Donovan is Killing It - 3.5 stars The Women - 5 stars Fourth Wing - 5 stars Iron Flame - 4 stars
My brain really wanted me to immediately read Fourth Wing. Then I need to read my BOTM books from last month: Annie Bot, Anita de Monte Laughs Last, Lessons in Chemistry. Then I'll start the ACOTAR series.

I have really dropped the ball with reading this year. January through March is typically my best time of the year, but not this year. Iโve been on my phone and Iโve been busy watching Australian Survivior 3 nights a week, on Twitter afterwards, and sucked into the Kate Middleton rabbit hole. I really hope to get better this month, but who knows. I also randomly decided to watch Dawsons Creek last week ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ซ Iโve never actually seen it, and I came across another amazing story James Van Der Beek shared on SM and I decided after 25 years, I wanted to actually watch the series (even though I basically known the story already). So yeah, Iโm thinking thatโs not going to help my reading either ๐
In March I read
The Five Star Weekend (book club pick) Killers of the Flower Moon (Book Girls Guide Decades Challenge 1920s) The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry (Books Girls Guide ICYMI 2014, and Buzzword - Characters Name)
My other online book club pick was Meredith, Alone, but I had read that one over a year ago. I had been excited to have the chance to get to read a pick up my own in its place, but that didnโt really happen. Last year I read 7 books in March, and in 2022 I read 11. Oh well.

Has anyone read Black Cake? My boss gave it glowing reviews but itโs like a bazillion month hold at my library. Iโm trying to decide if itโs worth just buying it.

I havenโt read it yet because of library holds but I did buy it for myself because of the reviews. Itโs on my summer read list when I do a lot of sitting on the deck reading

I haven't felt motivated to read lately. I bring my book all around the house with me and then find myself mindlessly scrolling instead of opening it. I finished 3 in March:
Punk 57 by Penelope Douglass - 3 stars - I liked the tension and the spice was pretty good, but I really don't love when they're in high school (even if they're 18) You'll Never Know I'm Here by Kiersten Mogdlin - 2 stars - I think someone else here liked it a lot and that's why I picked it up. I just don't think it was for me Bride by Ali Hazelwood - 3 stars - It was a fun ride. I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters

I read 8 books in March, a little below average, but I made it through half of A Covenant of Water which was the length of a regular sized book, so whatever. My favorite was Behind Every Good Man, Sara Goodman Confinoโs new book (an ARC, comes out August 6). The Women was a close second. Radium Girls was also great. The blank one is another ARC called Friends with Secrets by Christine Gunderson. It was a fun Finley Donovan-esque drama/thriller. Iโm currently listening to The Risk (Mindf*ck series number 1), and reading The Heiress on Kindle (loving it, almost done). I havenโt picked up The Island of Sea Women in a while, and I may just return it. I think Iโm not quite in the mood for it? On deck I have One by One by Frieda McFadden. Iโm a bit confused about this because I got it as an ARC, but it was originally released in 2020. It looks like a re-release 2024- can someone that reads ARCs regularly explain? imapenguin. I have only just started requesting on NetGalley and I tried Googling to no avail. I did just get accepted for the ARC of Lucy Foleyโs newest, A Midnight Feast, so thatโs cool.

I earned a free Aardvark add on this month, so Iโm trying to decide what to pick. I think I definitely want James by Percival Everett as my main pick, because the reviews look awesome and people that have already read it on FB seemed to love it, but I canโt decide on my add on. Iโm either going to choose Diavola by Jennifer Thorne or How to Solve Your Own Murder by Kristen Perrin.

thatgolfb, if itโs a rerelease publishers will often do that to try to create buzz. Did you request it or did they send a widget to your email?
