I finished Iron Flame today and woof. I really want to like this series because I think it’s an interesting idea and dragons! I told my sister that I felt like if “this meeting could have been an email” were a book it would be this book. There were like 300 straight pages where nothing happened. All that to say that I’ll read the next one though 😅 This pretty much sums up my thoughts about this book too. 🤣

I finished My Dark Vanessa. What an anger-inducing, sad book that was. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'm on chapter 88 of 102 of Crescent City 3. It's been a long road, but I'm really enjoying being back with these characters again.

I'm still working out my rating system since I just decided to start a reading journal this year, but here is where I'm landing: 1- DNF. I only DNF'ed two books last year that either made me outright angry or spiked my anxiety. 2- It's fine, I guess. Good enough to not DNF but not a lot else going for it. 3- Good - Maybe an issue here or there but overall I enjoyed it 4- Really Good - Would recommend to others, will probably re-read at some point 5- Love it! Absolutely recommend, might actually buy my own copy I also change ratings as I think about books more. A few have changed since my initial rating. This is basically mine. I give more 5 stars than a lot of people do lol.

I saw that Dark Matter is going to have an Apple TV+ series coming out in May, so I’m moving it up my list to read.
I am halfway through the Kindred Hulu series, and I think they have done a pretty good job.

I was first in line for The Women but it will only let me open it in the Libby app and not transfer it to my Kindle. Super annoying because everything is tiny.

I remember seeing that it would be going to Apple TV last year, but that was the last I heard and at that point, there was no end date as to when it would be. I can’t wait to watch it!

I finished Things I Wrote About last night and grabbed the next book in that series. I also grabbed We Know You Remember.
You guys are making me want to read the Crescent City books too.

Ugh, my NYC library card needs to be renewed and I didn't know my PIN, so I reset it to a password but Libby isn't verifying it. Wahhhh.
As a NY resident I'm able to have a NYC digital card, so it's not like I'm fibbing. I can't place any holds or check anything out on that car until I reverify it.

I’m halfway through CC3. It’s actually my favorite in the series so far. Nonstop action and the story is coming together nicely. It is SO long though. Definitely need some short easy reads once I’m done with this one!

I finished Everyone on the Train is a Suspect in a day. I liked the first but this one was way better. I gave it 4 stars. I have that on my kindle, maybe today is a good day! I really liked his first book, excited to hear this is better.

I finished Hamnet and I gave it 4 stars. Some parts were soooo good and some were just so slow. But overall I enjoyed it and I’m glad I read it. The writing was great.
I started Freida McFadden’s newest, The Teacher, on audio. It was available immediately on Libby. It’s entertaining and I am sure I will fly through it, as I usually do with her books. Helps motivate me to fold laundry. Which I should go do. Right now. Getting up now to do that.
In a minute. 🤣

I finished Say You'll Be Mine and I loved it! It was so cute. Slow burn, fake relationship, lots of character growth, mild spice. I loved both the main characters and the cultural representation. 5 stars, maybe 4.5 just due to the miscommunication trope. This is a debut author and I look forward to more from her!
Now I'm listening to Raiders of the Lost Heart by Jo Segura and its not great. The premise of this sounded so great but it isn't executed well. The romance part of the book is not done well, honestly feels like written by a man. I'm about halfway done and it's not bad enough to dnf but will likely be 2-3 stars. I love the fmc but the mmc is awful. This is also a debut so I may give the author another chance.
I'm also listening to The Teacher by Freida McFadden

The teacher is ready for me to pick up so I may do that today One nice thing about her books is my library's hoopla always gets them right away so I never have to wait. And they are always a quick read.

Oooh I didn't know Freida McFadden had a new book out - thanks! I'm 61st on the waitlist for the audiobook but hopefully it will move quickly. (It's either that or 135th for the hard copy...)

I've started Throne of Glass. Ended up buying the 7 in one kindle version because it was going to take me more than a year with library holds to get through everything.
Also listening to The Paris Deception.

I read Little Monsters and really enjoyed it. I am now listening to Weekend by the same author and I am not a fan. I'm over halfway through so I will probably finish but its looking like 2 stars for me. I also read Tender if the Flesh. I usually read at lunch and that isn't recommended while reading this book. I gave it 4 stars but it is a very difficult read.

My library is doing "Blind Date With a Book" for February where a book is gift-wrapped with only the genre and first line on a tag. My pick was We Wish You Luck which is different than my usual reads so I'll see how it goes. Ironically, I met MH on a blind date!

Also listening to The Paris Deception. I absolutely loved that entire series - I actually think I like it more than ACOTAR. Will make two recommendations: 1. Definitely read the Assassin's Blade novella collection (there is a debate on the best place to read it - some read it first, some recommend after Heir of Fire, SJM herself just suggested after Crown of Midnight - basically any point before Queen of Shadows is fine) 2. I'm not sure how it would work with the digital versions, but I highly recommend doing the tandem read for Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn (might need to borrow a hard copy of one or the other?). Without getting into spoilers, it follows two different tracks, and the tandem read meshes it together into one long story. I can share the chapter order with you when you get to that point, if you want it. PS, feel free to ignore me if this has already been discussed in depth already. I should have jumped into the reading threads sooner!

ETA what about when to read the assasin's blade? is that grouped with the novellas?

My BOTM was waiting for me when I got home tonight so instead of hoarding my new books I decided to dive right into The Women.
One chapter in and the pages are falling out of the book, I’ve never had that happen before!

I finished The Will Of The Many yesterday. It's a fantasy book by an Australian author I haven't read before that takes place in a sort of crazy ancient Roman type society where everyone lives in a hierarchy of levels and the lowest levels have to give up a portion of their "will" to the highest levels who can then basically do magic and also use the will to power machines.
It was a long and fun journey, lots of twists, great world building, and overall very enjoyable. The main character was too perfect even though he was supposedly 17 he was the most mature, most capable, most honorable, most everything of any character of any age introduced in the book. It was way too much which is why I gave it 4 stars but I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
