Listening to 7th grade girls is freaking hilarious especially when they think you can’t hear them. Which uh closing doors doesn’t make y’all magically more quiet. I also don’t think they can go longer than 2 minutes without mentioning boys. Maybe 2 seconds. Also pretty sure the boys are completely clueless about this! What an age. My son is a 7th grader. He doesn’t give a hoot about girls (or boys or romance and neither does his friend group). On the flip side, my friend also has a 7th grade boy that has a girlfriend. That age is so strange.

DH finally made it home today after flight cancellations due to snow. The Uber drive got to our house and said “there is no driveway”
Dude I did the best I could with the snowblower. And then it snowed more. I could drive over it with my suv in an emergency.
Side note - I really suck with a snowblower.

We've gotten over 22 inches of snow since Monday. The roads are all travel not advised or impassable so we haven't left the house in the past couple of days. We had a busy day of activities today but everything was cancelled and church tomorrow is cancelled. We do have to venture out tomorrow to get milk but hopefully the gas station up the block has some. Someone posted pictures of some of the shelves at the local stores and they are bare like early in the pandemic. No eggs, chicken, bread, chips, etc. We've been doing a ton of board games this week and now DH and the kids are playing video games and I'm going to read. We are all going a little stir crazy but its way to cold to play outside, the wind chill is currently -40°F and we are in a wind chill warning until Tuesday. We have fully embraced the hygge and I have refused to leave the house since Thursday. We stocked up on basics and I've been baking and cooking like crazy. Yesterday I meal prepped soyrizo breakfast burritos and egg bites and then made gnocchi from scratch, today I made bread bowls and gnocchi soup and we made fajita quesadillas. We were supposed to go to a Taylor Swift ice skating thing tonight that surprisingly was not cancelled and I refused to go. I'm really glad to not be working at the hospital anymore - my friend posted that they ran out of transport stretchers because that's what employees have been sleeping on. Stay safe and warm and I hope your gas station has milk tomorrow! We've been doing a lot of cooking too. I have no desire to even try to go anywhere. DH has gone out several times to snowblow for our neighbors because the 3 houses around us are all single older women. Now he's going to attempt to go to Walmart so we'll see how that goes. Our city pulled the plows overnight but we live just out of town so our roads might be ok. I know the hospital had sent out a sign up for people to sleep but thankfully I didn't have to sleep there, yikes. I did have to once in 2009 when literally only a couple of day shifters could make it in and they put me in the Dr sleep room and the Dr's were so mad 😂😬

Whoa nelzie! I’ve seen pics but I don’t think any of my people have gotten quite that much. We were forecasted to get 12-18” and have maybe 10. Womp womp. Even so there’s been significant power outages which is no fun. Maybe we’ll get the 8 more inches overnight tonight but I’m doubtful. I was hoping the forecast would be wrong as it normally is but both of these storms we got the higher prediction and then Weds we had a freak unexpected snow squal that dumped a few more inches. I'm glad to wake up today to see the 511 map isn't all purple and red anymore, lol. Sorry about the power outages, that's horrible with these temperatures! We thankfully haven't had any issues with our power so far. We are still in a wind chill warning until Tuesday. Really hoping they don't have to cancel school again Tuesday.

Its been so windy here that it pretty much immediately blows back shut every time you snow blow. DH has been trying to help out our neighbors with their driveways as best he can so they can get out in an emergency but there's only so much you can do sometimes.

I was storing a couple of 6 pack bottles of soda in our garage and they froze. That's never happened before, oops.

I know this happens every year, but I’m not in the mood for -30 degree windchills for the next 4 days straight.

It’s 28 degrees in the middle of the day here and I’m grumpy, but at least there’s no snow.

Why when I do a “no spend” January do I find so much stuff I want to buy? I’ve done so much cleaning so I don’t buy things.

They did say the last time it was this cold locally was 2022 so every other year for us but h works outside so we got more thermals and masks and gloves. They provided them with feet and hand warmers

ERCOT is already warning that they may not have enough power supply for this freeze. WTF. You’ve had a week to prepare! Get it together. I don’t need another burst pipe ala 2021.

I just learned the new mean girls movie is based on the musical and includes all the songs. The preview makes none of this clear. Now that I know it's a musical I can see the bits that are snippets of dance numbers but I was happy to see a silly movie but now it's just the same movie but a musical. I'm no longer interested.

Thank you for explaining this. I just said to H the other day - it’s not clear to me why they are remaking this movie. The old one is still very relevant. lol The only reason I’m slightly interested is because I like the blond actress who was Leighton on Sex Lives of College Girls.

I am very grumpy at how cold it is going to be this week. We may get snow or wintry mix overnight and I am hoping for a snow day so we don't have to go out in it. Four day weekend sounds great. I haaaaaaate winter

So I told MH that I think I’m done with TV. Meaning I’m not into watching new shows. On the few times a week that I want to watch TV, I just want to watch a game show or something I’ve seen a bunch of times.
He proceeds the next night to talk me into watching the most recent season of Fargo with him. I watch the first episode and have a related nightmare. I tell him this. Then I watch the second episode, same thing - very scary nightmare related to the show.
So I’m done. I told him to carry on without me.

Ever since I've gotten more into reading I would much rather read now than watch TV. If you would have told me that 5 years ago I wouldn't have believed you, lol. DH and I watch SNL together but that's about all I watch anymore.

I would enjoy it more if I didn't have a job where I have to go in to work no matter what (healthcare). I hate driving in this stuff. I went in the ditch in high school and I think that traumatized me, lol. But also the cold sucks because the kids can't even play in it. Mine are dying to go sledding at their grandparents house but its way too cold. Hopefully next weekend we can.

Memorial is Saturday and I still have 1000 things to do to throw the worst fucking party ever. I have a bunch of stuff that is supposed to arrive this week, all of the things crossed that the BS weather happening everywhere doesn't impact anything. I told my mom today that if I make it through this week I'm going to Aruba and maybe never coming back.

No school tomorrow. DD is delighted but also scared of Wednesday homework load. It’s an icy mess out there. We’ve had all the weather today.
