TS breathes air and people will criticize her for breathing. I am certain that had she laughed at the joke, it would have been twisted into something. She sipped her drink, that is all. As for the Kylie/ Selena thing. I don't think it actually happened. I mean she isn’t the only one who deals with this issue but she is the only one people seem to get upset by any criticism I agree that she is a bit thin skinned.

I keep typing and deleting because there is no point No where am I saying someone has to fake a smile for a man. I’m not going to defend myself more than that because if that is truly the take you get from me as a poster I don’t know what else to say. And trust I will never talk Taylor in this thread again but faking the smile etc has been discussed before during award season and it didn’t go this way I really just think you cannot have a conversation that involves Taylor without somehow taking it personally. No one is @ ing you about Taylor - it's the NARRATIVE about any woman having to smile at a dumbass joke that wasn't funny. Regardless of how tame it is.

But she simply sipped her drink. She didn't raise her eyebrow or roll her eyes. She sipped her drink instead of laughing at a joke she didn't find funny. I'm not even a mega taylor fan. I like her cute romance with Travis and it endears me to her, but I just don't see the big deal here.

Like, they really think that they are going to bat for their chosen celebrity.

In fairness you were quoted because you said someone at least faked a smile. You seem to often make Taylor stuff personal like people are coming after you for criticizing her. Lots of people criticize her, it's not that deep. People are allowed to disagree?

But it’s a joke just like him saying Meghan and Harry got paid millions for doing nothing that’s said at most shows, even Margot and Greta faked smiled during the Barbie joke because again award show roasting is a thing. I forgot no jokes about Taylor ever. Women should not have to fake smile to make a man feel good about his stupid joke. Fuck that. He sucked all around. Forever and ever, Amen.

I just don’t see the controversy. If a man is making fun of me, I need to politely smile, otherwise I’m a bitch?
No thanks.

It’s always you are to defensive/sensitive/ take things personally it gets old

angelashly I think the thing I'm trying to say is if it were anyone else who had sipped their drink instead of fake smile/laugh at that lame joke, for example if it had been Meghan - you would be like yeah why would they laugh at that lame joke? But because it was Taylor, it's a thing. I think his joke about Meghan and Harry was just as stupid as his one about Taylor. And I don't think either of them should have laughed (had Meghan been in the audience).

I think for years and years and years, Taylor has played into the victim narrative. She's just never wrong and everyone in the world has wronged her more than any person has ever been wronged in the history of mankind. And the Swifties, probably the most annoying fan base on the planet, have picked up that vibe and now play into every perceived slight of Taylor and make it 1000 times bigger than it needs to be. I think that's what fuels a lot of this.

My favorite was just a few years ago - during performance review season, someone* gave my manager feedback that said "microworm is great at her job but should smile and appear more excited during meetings." lollllllll *guaranteed to be a male. I actually chuckled a little.

So much so, that it’s a running gag in my house that whenever I say to my husband that something he says/does is such a “man” thing to do, he replies with, “you should smile more.”

December 20, 2023
This film might have been one of the more debauched films of all time. It was filled with rockstars and underage girls and those that were not underage were barely legal. I'm shocked that any filming actually got done at all. The name of the movie is also a song. It also was the end of the career of one of Hollywood's longest running character actors. He started off in the silent movies and had a career right up through this movie. Although he lived almost two decades after the movie was shot, he was essentially banned from working again. Apparently, it was OK for the rockstars in the movie to have their way with as many underage girls as they wanted. However, when our aging actor, who was in his 70's then decided he too wanted to participate, everyone said it was creepy and gross. It was creepy and gross and illegal, but the rockstars were being hypocrites because what they were doing was also illegal. They actually threatened our actor and then beat him up to the point where he wasn't able to work any longer and was scared from then until his death to go anywhere near a set.

I think this whole conversation as a whole is why I struggle with comedy/comedians sometimes.
Just because you're a comedian I'm supposed to be a good sport and smile at being insulted? Like even back to the Will Smith stuff, he shouldn't have put his hands on him. But like the man reacted to something hurtful. That's one thing I don't envy about being famous, they're just supposed to have this thick skin because a comedian wants to make a joke at their expense. It's one thing if its some comments at a show or a bar when you're not there, but just for it to be normal to be subjected to it when you're in attendance at something completely unrelated is kinda weird to me.
This post makes it seem like I care way more than I do honestly lol. This was kind of a word vomit in general.

TS and her security run background checks of all the employees working at the venue before the show. When my X baulked at getting his background check and I'm sure was a bigger asshole than he told me, TS security lead sent X home. They were right and recognized what an ass he was better than I could Putting this on my list I would do if I had TS money: background checks on everyone in my orbit.

Selena and Timothee made a movie together a few years ago. So them being friendly isn’t weird. It was a Woody Allen movie, so I never saw it, but I’ve seen clips of them kissing in the rain from it.
I don’t think the real reason for the beef among that group is actually fighting over Justin Bieber. I think it has more to do with betrayal, loyalty and never being able to get out from other people’s shadows.

I want to get a shirt that says "I'm not mad, it's just my face". They told me not to smile for my new passport photo, so I tried to look pleasantly neutral, and my face looks like this instead. We just got back from Mexico, and H laughed every time I had to pull my passport out.

December 27, 2023 Who knew the Japanese people don't like the alliterate one. In stories about the ex of the figure skater which have been prominent in this space, articles and people leaving comments beneath the articles continually mention the alliterate one. The gist is the ex of the figure skater thought the relationship would allow her to be open and everywhere and everyone would know who she was, but she had to remain hidden. Much like the alliterate one who thought she would be able to be front and center and be the focus of everyone's attention, but for the most part has to stay out of the limelight, when she wants all the limelight. Meghan Markle/Yuko Tesumo Nobuma/Yuzuru Hanyu lol, wut?

And Margot and Greta also shouldn't have had to fake smiles. That's more egregious to me. I'd be pissed as hell if I heard my work misrepresented in a way that suggests whoever wrote the joke completely missed the point of the movie. Roasts are funny when it seems like some thought was put into them, not just boobie jokes.
Taylor doesn't need to fake shit because she's got 780 million banked and Greta's got to keep getting projects, so I get the chuckle. We've all done it.
