With all the reviews of wreck the halls should I just return to the library and not bother? I decided not to read this one, I don't think I've heard a single good review.

Yep I canceled my hood on this awhile back. Not one good review! Too bad. I really liked It Happened One Summer but that’s it by this author.

TL/ DR: up a coming author Cait Corrain posed as many other members of Goodreads to downvote other up and coming authors and to upvote her own. She first blamed a friend. Then she said it was drugs, today I believe she is claming nervous breakdown caused her to do it. However, she has done it more than once. She was dropped by her publisher and her agent. www.washingtonpost.com/style/2023/12/12/author-cait-corrain-goodreads-review-bombing-controversy/

Oh, also, I saw that goodreads has blocked people from leaving reviews on Cait Corraine's book. I've never seen that before. Wild!

Oh, and all of the other authors that she downvoted were all women of color. She says that played no role in her downvotes, but it can't be a coincidence.

I can't read the article so maybe it mentions it but most of the authors she downvoted were BIPOC authors.
Her book was also supposed to be one of those monthly book box things, can't remember which one, but they dropped her too.
I had never heard about her before all this but apparently this book was supposed to be huge. And now she has completely destroyed her career.

A good friend owns a book box subscrption company and we have been talking about this all day. My friend does not work with Corrain, but does work with two of the authors that Corrain review bombed. Corrain was supposed to hit as big as Yarros. Maybe her next book can be 'How to Ruin Your Career in Three Simple Moves'.

She already had so much going for her, she of all people didn't need to do something like this. Not that anyone should, obviously, but she was already set up to be big.

I just finished One Day in December, and really loved it! One of my favorite holiday reads in a while.

It turns out that was not nearly enough to carry a book, and a very thin connection.

At least I got it from the library and didn’t pay for it, lol.

(And I’m not down on that, I spend basically all of November and December watching them lol)

I needed an audiobook to listen to while cleaning so I picked up Solo for the Season. It was short so I finished it this afternoon. It was cute, nothing too exciting but better than some of the Christmas novellas I've read lately.
My next audiobook is going to be Faking Christmas by Cindy Steel. I thought I had already read it but I read Faking Christmas by Kerry Winfrey.

After I read Brit’s memoir, Jessica Simpson’s was recommended to me. Oh my gosh I loved it and feel weirdly familiar with her now. And F John Mayer.

I finished two books today.
Mistletoe & Mishigas by MA Wardell - m/m spicy holiday romance. I enjoyed it more than his first book (Teacher of the Year)
Cat + Gamer Volume 3 - this is such a cute manga. Volume 4 is not out yet but I already have a hold placed at the library. My son (11) really likes this series too.

Chang, Voyage of the Damned by Frances White, Mistress of Lies by K.M. Enright and the Gods of Hunger Series by R.M. Virtues.
So I made sure to look them up on Goodreads and added some to my To Read list!

I want her to come out with a part 2 or reality show or something so I can keep up with her. And she ate crackers for me before I read it. I also went and listened to TS’s Dear John song and feel like it’s exactly in line with everything Jessica wrote. Reminds me of an ex of mine 🤮
