9 years ago, when we lived peaceful and humble lives, with no children and some amount of disposable income, we signed up to be members of a new food co-op and loaned them some money to fund their start up. That loan payment check showed up in the mail today and I sure could use it!

Busy week here, too. Although it got a little less busy because the Girl Scout camping prep meeting that was supposed to happen tonight turned into divvying up tasks for each girl to do at home. Much easier for me than having to take DD1 to and from the leaderās house during rush hour/toddler bedtime.
Itās a fun type of busy for the most part. I am going with DS to preschool on Thursday, and staying to help him transition. Then I think next week he will be on his own!
DD1 has her first expander appt at the orthodontist on Wed, so hopefully that goes well.
Iām tired. I didnāt sleep well last night, and woke up tired. The worst.

thatgolfb , we're in the midst of expander fun times with DS2. I have very strong memories of the expander myself and I was worried my sensitive child would not handle it well, but other than getting used to it the first few days it has been a big nothing burger. I hope it's the same for your DD! The one thing I had forgotten was that once it has done its job and you are done turning the key, you still leave it in place for eight more weeks to set the palate.

I have never had an expander, so I didnāt really know what to expect.

DS was annoyed that he had to go to school and the rest of us are home. Sorry, kid. DD is on day five of covid so I have to stay home with her, and H is sick (two negative covid tests, but I don't trust them when there are symptoms anymore). I told him I would rather be at work, but the truth is that I would just rather no one be sick. Not a whole lot of people WANT to go to work.

Our weekend was stupid busy, and not all on purpose. DH was cleaning the shower yesterday and scrubbed some grout right out of the tile. We knew it needed to be redone, but not quite that badly. So he spent yesterday re-grouting. He's home today finally resting. I'm jealous, but I'm off tomorrow Just Because. ((I'd rather be home alone anyway.))

I hope your daughter has the same luck!

Iām recovering from homecoming week and weekend with DS1. We also went apple picking yesterday so I needed to get caught up today.
Weāre planning on decorating for Halloween later so I did a quick clean downstairs and will finish during naptime. DS1 and SS will mostly decorate for me which is nice. We donāt do much but enough to be festive.
Itās absolutely gorgeous here today so Iāve got windows open and Iām soaking it all up! Iām hoping to get a nice long walk in at some point since itās so nice out!

I know people who have had negative tests with COVID in the home with the same symptoms. Myself included.

Just wanted to share this from my local momās group:
On October 4th, a national alert will be sent out to test the alert system around 2:20 pm ET. If you have a hidden phone, like many in a DV situation might, make sure your phone is OFF. Being on silent will not keep it from going off. From my understanding, even if itās the next day when you turn it on, it will still go off, so make sure you are in a safe situation when you turn it back on. I sincerely hope this heads up reaches the ones who need it the most. š©·
Posted from another group! They are saying that you cannot turn off this notification since it is a āpresidential alertā

I'm waiting (really impatiently I might add) to hear if I got the job I interviewed for last week. The recruiter told me they had 2 more people coming in and I'm going to be OTT and send another email this afternoon to the two VP's and remind me how awesome I am. My kiddo turned 12 yesterday and I'm still not sure where the time went.

š¬ That will feel like a long time for her, Iām sure! I have never had an expander, so I didnāt really know what to expect. My younger DD just finished cranking and gets her braces on Monday. Our orthodontist just leaves it on for the whole braces treatment. Swallowing pills has been the hardest thing to adjust. When my older DD had it, her spaghetti would also get caught! DS2 will get braces in a couple of weeks. He was promised that he will be done with everything by the time he turns 10. He turns 10 in April 2024.

My kid got invited to his first birthday party this coming weekend and he started coughing over this past weekend. I am not going to be able to deal with the drama if he ends up sick and can't go. Lord.

ETA I think the second phase is the full set of braces.

Why does car buying paperwork take so fucking long? Damn. I wish I knew. I went to pick up mine on Friday. We had ordered it, so we knew the exact cost, what they were giving for our trade in, and we were not financing. It took over 3 hours. I was pissed.

They said they will mail it to us. MH and I canāt decide if itās a gimmick. It seems too exciting for it to be a genuine ābank error in your favorā situation, right?

Phase 1 around 3-4 grades to hold space and minimize weirdness, and now in 7th sheās getting phase 2 to straighten things up and align the top and bottom teeth. DS1 is waiting for his last adult tooth to come in before we start phase 2 for him as well.

Especially since he called right after I posted to say he messed up a form on our trade in and asked if he could come to my house for us to sign it again (just the odometer thing).

I got a lead on a job and will be interviewing this week. Itās with my old job just different area. Problem is itās $5 less an hour which adds up. Itās better than nothing which is coming up since I have until October 21st but sigh.
I did email my old boss about the pay and if it was negotiable but Iām guessing thatās a no.
