byjove holy shit reading that made my heart beat faster! I'm glad she's ok right now and wasn't hurt in the fall in the tub. I don't blame you for being in panic mode right now. I'm not sure what I would do about the bed situation. Do they have to room share?

How terrifying byjove. I hope you get some answers If you're trying to figure out room setups, there's a free computer program called SweetHome3D that you can download, create your room, and play with different furniture configurations

Yes, but I think it will basically just be a room of entirely bed right, with the two butted up against each other with a divider. It's not forever *deep breath*

Oh byjove! That must have been absolutely terrifying. I’m glad she seems to be okay now! Hopefully it never happens again, but even the seizure precautions are a lot to have on your plate. I’m sending so many hugs your way. ❤️

It was the absolute max of beds and all clothing was in the other room. Maybe if your older wants the privacy she gets from the bottom bunk, one of those bed tents would help?

Yeah I think we are going to hang a canopy for each of them for privacy. We just invested in doing a complete room redo just 12 months ago, so it’s frustrating to undo it all, but trying to make this work!

I ordered a matching bed to dd1 today- she has a day bed style with some drawers underneath, so they will have a physical divider in the middle, and the drawers will open most of the way… and then we’ll hang the canopies. They are really excited about those.

Omg byjove I’m so glad she’s okay but that sounds completely terrifying and just a LOT. Im glad there’s a good plan in place and they’re excited for their new bedroom setup. My gosh. Universe, chill!! I went back to work last week and I hate it and it sucks and everything sucks. Yes I talked to my therapist this morning. Yes my H is being amazing and really stepping up. Yes BabyO is so happy at daycare he doesn’t even care. Yes DS1 is not adjusting well and is highly emotional lately. Yes I know it’s just going to take time and adjustment period. I’m Mostly struggling with how triggering it has been to be in a nicu again. Making my job really hard. Yay Therapy and meds.

byjove that is so scary. Do you think an Apple Watch with fall protection alert would help you help monitor her while balance out what close watching but letting her live her life looks like? I know a seizure doesn’t necessarily mean she’d fall down but at least it’s something?

addymac, I am so sorry the return to work hasn’t been smooth. Are there other nursing opportunities within your hospital you can explore or move into that would still be fulfilling but not re-traumatize you?

I know a seizure doesn’t necessarily mean she’d fall down but at least it’s something? We actually ordered her a series 8 this morning, for that peace of mind! Less than I thought it would be, at least ($425 vs what we had expected of around $800)! Apparently there are seizure detection apps also available that utilize the sensors in the watch, which is pretty cool. They are like $20-$30/month, so not cheap, but we are going to look more into those too. We also wanted to make sure who ever is with her would be able to call someone for help. She did say, but mom, I fall down a lot LOL I told her it would know the difference.

I'm very behind this week but wanted to say I'm so glad your DD is ok byjove. I can't imagine how scary that must have been. I'm glad you have plans in place and are figuring out what will work best for your family as you monitor things moving forward. I hope the girls love their new room setup. addymac I'm sorry for the struggle with returning to work. I'm sure it's difficult being back in the NICU - the work you do is hard enough without the memories of your own experience. I hope things get easier for you.

Oh man addymac I want to give you the biggest warmest hug. I’ve been in weekly therapy with someone who specializes in trauma/PTSD and pretty recently came to the conclusion that I’m ok if I never go back and work in critical care. I‘m only saying this because back when things were very bad for me, I had work friends tell me of people they knew who had also decided (for various reasons) to leave that work environment. Hearing that really let me take that first (last) step of realizing it just wasn’t where I needed to be anymore. And it doesn’t mean you’re a failure or that you aren’t a badass HCW. You’re amazing in so many ways, but the world has been so hard and it’s ok to step back or step away. I’m so glad you have support IRL too, and if you’re meant to stay in the NICU, I know they and we will support you through this really hard time. 💕

byjove, how scary! Hopefully it was the "perfect storm" of events causing it to be a one off thing. I am glad she is ok now. addymac, I am sorry that you are struggling with your return to work. I hope that things get better for you. ((hugs)) to both of you!
