Uh. This seems insane to me. That's because it is insane. How many people (athletes, sure, but also the employees of the facility) are going to be exposed because of a dumbass policy like this one?

I saw a tiktok (so I don't know if it's actually true, lol) that some places in Europe have a combination home rapid test of covid, flu a and b, and rsv. If this is real when can we get this here? That would be so nice to have. My poor kiddo with strep has been sleeping all day the past two days. I was planning to send her back to school tomorrow but now I may keep her home another day. This is hitting her a lot harder than it has in the past. Usually she bounces back really quickly after starting antibiotics. It's real, and they are cheap! (just a couple bucks a test) Sorry she's not feeling well

Well her fever is back so I'll be keeping her home tomorrow too. I've never had a kiddo still have a fever after 24 hours of antibiotics for strep. So now of course I'm freaking out that maybe she has that more invasive strain that kids are dying from. Thanks anxiety.
I am really struggling to get her to take her meds. I feel like I know all the tips but please give me any you have. It's the bubblegum flavored amoxicillin.
I've tried juice, chocolate syrup, squirting in the side of her mouth. I ordered chocolate ice cream and pudding to try for tonight.
I'm mad at myself for not just asking for the shot. I gave her the choice since she's usually better about meds than her sister. Mom fail.

My peditrician's office said that for my <5 that has completed pfizer preliminary series, and had covid 2 weeks ago, they should come back for bivalent in 60ish days. Honestly, depending on the covid situation at that time, I might just wait until he turns 5/back to school to get covid and flu together. Did they approve bivalent boosters for kids under 5 that had 3 Pfizer shots? I did wait 60+ days post COVID to get both kids their boosters. No 😔

Well my daughter woke up this morning complaining that her ears hurt. So my husband took her to urgent care and on top of her covid infection she has a double ear infection. I opted to get the remdesvmir infusions after waking up feeling worse. Part of me also took that option be because it is a one hour appointment 3 days in a row and I saw it as a little vacation for myself. They offered warm blankets, snacks and drinks!

Pediatrician said that they are seeing almost every little one with covid come in a little bit later 1-3 weeks with an ear infection, when grandson went to get his ears looked at for a post covid ear infection.

YLE newsletter today says: -Moderna induces better protection against infection, and generated a larger T cell response to fight infection, compared to Pfizer. People with weaker immune systems might want to opt for Moderna, if they have a choice. -Hybrid immunity (vaxxed + infected) can last for up to 8 months, giving hope this will eventually become a seasonal disease like flu. -Pretty much all airplanes are carrying people with Covid, although we don’t know whether they were contagious on the flight since the samples are from wastewater. Keep masking on planes. -Masking works and should still be used in schools and large settings (duh). -Novavax doesn’t work as well as the mRNA vaccines, but it’s great if that’s all you can get. -Risk of Long Covid is reduced by vaccines but this reduction plateaued after 3 shots. Don’t rely solely on vaccines.

I looked at that preprint study about Novavax and it wasn't clear to me from the short paragraph that is available if that was comparing the novavax with the updated mRNA boosters, and plus also Novavax is working on an omicron booster. I think she was more negative and vague than she needed to be! Though I know I'm a bit bias...

Mom fail. popsicle ahead of time to numb tastebuds? Bribe of m&ms after each dose. Put kid in charge of squirting it in their own mouth with a countdown like a rocket. Grandson hated bubblegum flavor but Grape flavor meds were a hit

Poor kiddo woke up with a red hurting eye and says her ears hurt and she can't hear well. So looks like we'll be heading back to urgent care to check for pink eye/ear infection. I'm going to see if they'll give her the antibiotic shot because nothing is working getting her to take this and keep it down. Still has a fever but down to 100.6 tonight.

I love that it's once and done. I should have just gone that route in the first place.

I remember loathing those penicillin shots as a kid nelzie. They did seem to work really well though! My pediatrician said they were seeing some antidotal evidence of very reduced immune response in the 6-8 months post COVID. My youngest one had COVID 11.5 months ago, theoretically well out of that window, and is STILL catching every flipping virus that runs through our elementary school. She's back to school today, but I don't think we've had a month of school yet that she hasn't missed a few days due to illness. Our district calendar also still has the extra teacher workdays that they built-in during the remote schooling options. So all of my kids will be home Friday for a teacher workday. Two whole days of school this week for DD3...

No pediatrician offices around me are offering any covid shots and the local children's hospital only did Pfizer for under 5s. It shouldn't be this hard! We had to go to Costco for ours.

On top of the strep throat she has double pink eye and double ear infections. We went ahead and did the antibiotic shot so that is a relief. Now we just have the eye drops. She's completely turned the corner today though, no more fever, hasn't slept all day, and finally eating again.

nelzie my only bit of advice(?) for the liquid is that none of mine would take it easily, so we started trying tablet/pill form. This happened when on started daily allergy meds and he wasn’t excited about it. The pedi offered a pill for us to crush, plus it was less expensive. So we did that. Then he started taking it without being crushed & topped with applesauce. All of mine are now on daily meds (5-10, but for at least 2 years) and opt for pill form, which I’m always amazed they can do. I was 14/15 before I could swallow a whole pill. Hopefully she gets feeling better soon and the shot helps.

I couldn't do it until I was an adult and I definitely don't want that for them.

Strep definitely must be going around her class, DH said one of her classmates was at urgent care too and also has strep. We assume she got it from school because she woke up sick Monday and we hadn't gone anywhere all weekend.

Still may require some holding down, but might be easier to manage? I also have made H do it for me because I'm a big baby about eyedrops.

She's quite dramatic 😂 She's 6 and tiny (37 pounds) but very feisty
