I ended up taking the boys in. DS1 only threw up those first times this morning. But he’s had a fever, body aches, chills, headache tired all day. He’s negative for everything (strep, respiratory panel). DS2 who besides randomly saying his throat hurt this morning and his stomach hurt has strep. So either Ds1 didn’t turn a rapid strep test or he’s got a stomach bug which is ducky.

DH just tested positive. Another one bites the dust.
DS is mad that he tested negative because it means he has to go to school and take a test on fractions tomorrow. Poor dude.

Minerva I laughed at your kid's reasoning. I hope everyone is feeling better soon.

I always get Strep G. Which means waiting an extra three days for antibiotics.

Question for you guys. I am having an MRI of my ankle on Saturday and I am supposed to bring my own metal free mask. I normally wear the Vida N95s, but those are plastic coated wire. Do all surgical masks have wire? I am trying to think of my cloth masks and I think those all have metal nose pieces too. Just pull it out of one? Other suggestions? Normally surgical masks don’t have wires. Can you swing by a place that still hands some out for free? The library or a supermarket? Or a drs office?

Man I’m sorry for everyone and their families being sick, covid or not.
N missed an entire week of school last week bc of a virus with fever nonstop and vomiting every other day and a cough and so much mucous. He’s back at school with a mask on until I hope forever but I’m sure he’ll take it off as soon as he stops coughing.
DH is just starting to feel human again today after falling sick on Saturday. I hadn’t seen him that knocked down since he had the flu 5 years ago. He says he thinks it was the flu but didn’t bother going to the dr so I guess we will never know.
Knock on wood BabyO and I stay safe. I am exhausted and my body feels like it got hit by a truck but I don’t have other sick symptoms so I think it’s just life kicking my ass.

Well I didn’t know it yesterday that they had sent DS1’s swab out for a culture. He’s got strep too. So at least he can get antibiotics started. And he should be good to swim this weekend (he’s actually feeling quite a bit better today and oddly still says his throat doesn’t hurt that there’s just some mucus there).

I know our upk teachers have said this Year is horrible for sickness and the kids not in daycare before are struggling even more because they haven’t been exposed to much of anything because of Covid.

I was going to ask if they sent out a culture, especially since your other DS had it. It seemed pretty likely he also had it with those symptoms. I'm not glad he has strep but glad he can get antibiotics and hopefully all are feeling better soon!

Nope. Never. And with DD1 we were extra cautious of DD2 bringing home germs. At least it is strep this time. They actually said she could be in school tomorrow. I was surprised at that. But she would be on antibiotics for about 24 hours and three doses in.

The sickness is slowly hitting me. First, the fatigue. Then the sneezing / stuffy nose. The sinus headache and congestion has now started. I took a two hour nap and still feel wiped out.
My MIL arrived today to meet BabyO. I’m glad but also feel so tired I have zero interest in hosting. And DH is still decently sick. After he does anything that requires any effort he is wiped out. I keep feeling like it’s covid bc of the fatigue but all the tests have been negative sooooo. But I know the flu knocks you down a lot too. So who knows.
