I dropped my laptop on my left big toe last night đ«
My first instinct was to do nothing since that's what we did growing up, but I'm trying to break that toxic cycle
I'm going to try the after hours ortho walk in clinic later, but DD also had Girl Scouts so hopefully it won't take too long. I can still bend my toe but the toenail is purple and I can't put weight on it when walking. I had slippers on and there's a mark where it hit. I've been in constant pain since it happened
DD also broke a slat on our wood blinds and I think the garbage disposal is broken, so hopefully our "bad things come in threes" is over

notblanche hugs <3 <3 mrsweasley, we've been having non stop things like that break since this fall. I don't know what's going on! FX for your toe.

mrsweasley definitely get it checked out/X-rayed so they can figure out if you fractured it and if so what kind of fracture. If itâs a bad break or heals wrong you could be looking at arthritis when you get older, and a quick UC trip to avoid that seems worth it.

elle How is your kiddo tonight? She's good. We're giving her albuterol to help her airways stay open and aside from a minor cough she's doing well. Not sure if I mentioned but she was negative for rsv, flu, and covid, so their best guess is some other unknown/unnamed respiratory virus. *sigh*

dc2london Minerva other NOVA friends... what are you thinking about school Thursday? I think my city could probably get by with just a delay, but I don't know if the county closes because they'll stay below 32F for longer... and if the county closes, we'll close...

Iâm sure roads will be passable here, but Ffx will delay or close if they are icy/snowy in the western part of the county. I wish we were getting real snow or nothing. Cold rain and sleet is the worst.

We got our first real snow on Sunday, probably around 5-6" at our house. âïž It's lovely and it was so beautiful watching it fall all day. Our backyard has turned into Narnia and I'm hoping it stays and doesn't melt too quickly. It's still cold but sunny, so slowly disappearing and melting away here and there. Our area has wintry mix in the forecast for Friday and light snow for Saturday so we shall see what happens.

I'm sorry, notblanche. Hugs â€ïž Ouch, mrsweasley! I hope it's just being a (literal) pain and not anything more serious, but good for you for getting it checked out.

My airpod pros went through the washing machine (sheets and towels cycle too of course) on Saturday and I'm happy to report that both ear buds survived!! I can't believe it. I just need a new dock, which is much much much more reasonable than an entire new set. Few. It's a preChristmas miracle! Was not looking forward to flying with wired headphones next week. I accidentally washed a can of olives today đ

Months ago I invited my mom to visit for my toddler's birthday/ Christmas. (side note he's turning THREE next week). She said yes, absolutely! Then canceled right after Thanksgiving. She has to do what's best for her, but I can't help feeling like we're not a priority. And I probably shouldn't be surprised. We could never convince her to stay longer than one night when we lived three hours away. Now we're 6.5 hours away and she doesn't want to come bc she'd have to stay longer lol sob I'm so sorry. That's an awful feeling đ

I am operating under the potential for a closure. I don't think we will get ice, but it sure looks like other parts of the county will. I'd rather prepare for a closure that doesn't materialize than vice-versa.

I accidentally washed a can of olives today đ How did that happen? Lol. I was in a rush to put groceries away and wash my bags, as my IL's were coming over, and I jammed my kitchen laundry into washable grocery bags to take them to the laundry room. The olives are so light I didn't realize they'd been left in the bottom of a bag. I wash my kitchen cloths/towels twice a week after I grocery shop so my grocery and produce bags get washed between each use.

My toe isn't broken, just super bruised. The nail took the brunt of it. They want to see me again next week just to make sure everything looks good and gave me one of those support shoes. If I'm lucky they said the nail might fall off đ«
In a stroke of good timing, I took my toe polish off yesterday before it happened. Normally I paint them again right away but I didn't have time. If I hadn't you wouldn't be able to see what a lovely shade of purple is under my nail đ

Our front-loader washer started getting this weird error code about a clogged drain, but it would only happen sporadically and we didnât see anything in the drain when weâd look. If you restarted it it would run through and drain just fine. So we thought it was a sensor going bad.
Like three months after this started happening, it wouldnât restart one day. My husband took the whole draining mechanism apart in a sort of last ditch effort to figure out how to fix it because it was six months or so after the start of COVID and washers (and parts) were hella expensive then. Guess what he found?
The entire screen area was full of colorful pieces of broken plastic. Eventually we figured out it was three or four broken mechanical pencils my oldest had been leaving in his hoodie pockets!!
