I have an interview for what might be my dream job at 12:45. I am beyond nervous. I am getting no work done at my actual job when I really need to be super productive. FX for you!

The job wasn’t quite what I thought it was going to be from the description and it might not be the perfect fit I thought. It is still super interesting, is a new role in a fast growing business so I could really build the job out to what I want it to be and would be a great stepping stone on my resume. But it would be a metric ton of work. There’s a lot to think about.

I've been trying to convince H we should go solar. But then we had to replace our garage door this year. So I'll be pushing for it again in the spring after our return comes through. We're looking at whole tear down/ replace in the next 5yrs (more if we're lucky). I cry a little bit whenever I think of that cost. On the plus side, it gives us the perfect time to add solar when we do it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the tech gets less expensive in that time. I don't want to freak you out but our entire set up (solar panels, battery, etc) and install is costing us into the six figures. Granted about a fifth of that will come back in rebates (and drop total cost back into five figures) but it's good to be prepared. Material and labor costs have increased a lot the last few years so what we estimated at around $75k last year...is not. *lolsob* Hopefully costs will come down and make it more affordable for everyone, but from what I've seen things are either holding steady or still creeping up.

Better! Not 100%. Maybe like 65-70% better. Today was the first day I ate real food for all my meals and didn’t feel like complete garbage. I’m so thankful my parents were still here to help, but now I’m just sad bc they leave tomorrow 😢 Thanks for checking in!!

We had such a busy weekend. Hockey both days, Christmas tree cutting on Saturday and yesterday we did the Santa Train, Christmas Market, and tree decorating. I was so exhausted by 7 last night.
DD is 4, so this was the first year we did the Santa Train. I got literal chills when the conductor yelled All Aboard for the North Pole Express. Normally I'm not such an emotional person, but damn. I wish I could share pictures here. (My tapa never works for sharing and I can't figure it out without it).

fatpony if you're trying to add pictures on tapa and it won't load, try clicking files instead. You should still be able to get to you pics that way

How is it already December? We're getting solar tiles put on this month along with a new roof. Supposedly the work should only take 3-4 days but that seems too short of a time to me for all that work. What do I know though. That sounds right. We just got our roof redone and put on solar panels and they did the whole roof in a day, came back and did the gutters in a couple of hours one day, and then did the solar panels on another day.

I’ve been listening to Sharon McMahon’s podcast series about First Ladies the last couple of days and I’m going to need Shonda Rhimes to turn it into a tv series. I feel like Andy Cohen may need to be involved as well.

I am fighting with Aetna again to get my BCPs refilled. I take them continuously AS PRESCRIBED and all year they have fighting me on it, saying I’m refilling too early. I’m so frustrated.

Anyone have sprained ankle experience? It happened 13 days ago and I see the ortho on Wednesday. I'm not really in pain (occasional achiness) unless I move my ankle in a certain direction. I can tell I have more mobility in it than I did. I'm still having some amount of swelling that goes worse in the evening. I've cut my activity WAYYYYYY back, but wonder if I've had to be on my feet too much. Does that sound typical for a sprained ankle? I'm afraid she's going to tell me I have to keep wearing the boot. Granted, I'm swollen just enough that shoes feel a bit weird/tight at the top of my foot (tried one on today). Sprained ankles are just super annoying like this, right?

notblanche, ok, that's good to know. Were you in a boot? If so, for how long?

No boot because I'm a bad patient and it was summer, so I just wrapped it and iced it and wore slide on shoes.

My bad sprains have always involved ace bandages and crutches. By two weeks, you should be able to tell it is getting better, but it can easily take a month to 6 weeks, with ankle instability for a long time afterward. Elevate, NSAIDs, any PT exercises they give you, and look into buying yourself some cute boots with ankle support to enjoy all winter.

For me ankles are my worst enemy. Massage also helps once the swelling has gone down. Icing and rest. And pt to avoid stiffness and immobility pain.

I’ve had to take DC in to urgent care for an earache they’ve had off and on for a week (we don’t have a regular doc here yet). I don’t think it’s an infection but maybe some blockage, no fever or other symptoms. Thankfully they’re having us wait in the car, and they require masks inside.

byjove, my mom sprained her ankle a few years ago and it hurt for months. It was just extensive soft tissue damage and she was a pre-school teacher so never really got to be off her feet. All that to say, hope it feels better soon, but that it's normal for it to take awhile.

DD2 had a doctor's appointment today because she'd failed two hearing tests in a row at school. Turns out she had compacted ear wax. Took the doctor and nurses about 30 minutes to clean it all out. We've cleaned her ears, but I guess we need to invest in an irrigation kit because what we're doing isn't enough.

I clean them with a kit at home, but they still get impacted occasionally and the pedi has to clean/irrigate them. She gets all the tablet or tv time she wants now while she’s lying there with the fizzy debrox stuff in her ear.

Her doctor did recommend debrox, so we'll be getting that.

My airpod pros went through the washing machine (sheets and towels cycle too of course) on Saturday and I'm happy to report that both ear buds survived!! I can't believe it. I just need a new dock, which is much much much more reasonable than an entire new set. Few. It's a preChristmas miracle! Was not looking forward to flying with wired headphones next week.

Months ago I invited my mom to visit for my toddler's birthday/ Christmas. (side note he's turning THREE next week). She said yes, absolutely! Then canceled right after Thanksgiving. She has to do what's best for her, but I can't help feeling like we're not a priority. And I probably shouldn't be surprised. We could never convince her to stay longer than one night when we lived three hours away. Now we're 6.5 hours away and she doesn't want to come bc she'd have to stay longer lol sob
