Ok. I have thoughts. As I stated before, I didn’t realize this was all about Diana right now. But I loved it. I loved that they showed the impact on the family. Seeing the funeral possession again was a throwback. I can’t wait for the next part The procession got me - the real footage and the dramatization. When William asked "why are they crying for her?" and Phillip said "they're crying for you" I actually got a little teary. They were so so young to have to carry all of those people's grief so publicly. I think my heart will always break a little for the bereft boys that they were on that day.

Loved it. They were mighty generous with Charles in my opinion. I have a hard time believing he wept like that in the morgue, and was so emotional overall about it. I had no idea Dodi was engaged and barely noticed Diana's existence before his dad thrust them together. I also got misty when Philip said "They're crying for you" ..I mean wow. Really powerful.

Charles being so desperate for Camilla to be accepted was cringe. Also Margaret was not at the birthday party so I don't understand why that was a plot point.

Diana was married at 20 to Charles so when she was finally divorced it was like the paparazzi was desperate to document her new found sexual awakening. I think her and Dodi would of only ever been a fling. These 4 episodes gave me goosebumps. I watched the previous seasons again in prep for this season and season 5 where the relationship between Diana and Charles is breaking down is so miserable to watch. I think this season very tastefully conveyed Diana and Charles co-parenting with every possible resource at their disposal. I do think the Crown had a responsibility to protect Diana as I think they have some towards Harry and Meghan as well. My anger towards Prince Philip and the Queen towards outsiders remains, they were awful.

I also did not know that the Cartier tank watch Meghan wears now was a gift from Dodi.

I don't think Megan's Diana tank has that. Google isn't entirely clear, but it seems like her father gave her a Cartier Louis with a leather band and then she had a Patek that was a birthday gift from Charles which she wore for a while after the divorce. Dodi might have bought her a Tank Francaise or a Panthere.

Just finished it. I agree they were super generous with Charles. It was like he wrote it LOL. Looking forward to the second half of the season.

Poor Harold, they couldn't have picked a more awkward actor to play him.

Soo..I'm underwhelmed by the 2nd half. Again they were veryyy generous with Charles and even Camilla as well. It was kind of a snooze for me although I did enjoy Margaret's story and the queen's flashbacks.

I watched the "Willy goes to uni and meets Kate" ep last night. I'm looking forward to the Ritz episode but the rest will be a slog, I think.

Just finished the princess Margaret episode. I liked that one. The Tony Blair episode was horrible.

Poor Harold, they couldn't have picked a more awkward actor to play him. Thank god they changed his hairstyle! I'm not done with the second half yet but it definitely makes me feel pretty sorry for the royals. Just so bizarre being forced to live under a microscope and have press conferences about where you're going to school.

I have one episode to go
So far I've hated most of it. It's too recent, it feels VERY generous, and most of it doesn't seem to align with the rumors at the time. I know rumors are just that but it feels like some heavy handed royal influence to paint them in the best light
So far I liked the Ritz episode (I watched something else on Netflix about this night/Margaret & Elizabeth too) and Princess Margaret's and The Queen Mother's deaths
I think the rest of it is too close to recent memory and dealing mostly with people still alive (and relatively young)

The last episode was fine. I liked the part about picking the lament. I wonder if covering QEII's funeral was planned as the ending before her death. It just felt lackluster for a series that had much better earlier seasons

It just felt lackluster for a series that had much better earlier seasons I tried to watch it last night and I don't know if it was my internet or Netflix but it kept glitching. Like it would freeze for 5-10 seconds and then jump forward. I missed the Harold/Willy argument after the queen spoke to them about Camilla. I got frustrated and turned it off.
