Huge shoutout and thanks to our friends who are poll workers or poll watchers today. I know starbuck and @icedtea are out there hustling for democracy, wasn't there someone else?

We're currently in line to vote! VA made election day a school holiday, so we were able to go a little later. N is waiting patiently in line with us, but is sad she doesn't get to vote too.

Hello from NJ! DH and I voted at 6:30am this morning (we got up early to let DD see the eclipse). I haven't posted here much lately but I am running for our local BOE in the election today. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Also really nervous about the national results...particularly for my friends in PA.

I just voted!
Also thanks to Facebook I was reminded that six years ago today we made a super huge mistake as a country and I sincerely hope history does not repeat itself…

Not watching, but I have a time slot of ferrying people to their polling places from noon to 2pm. Hopefully people are in an optimistic mood. I need some of that energy.

It’s not even 9am and I am streaming Hallmark Xmas movies to distract myself. It’s going to be a long day.

I voted by mail last week and tried to get all my expat friends to do the same.

I've been trying to spend less time online lately but I'll be very online today and tomorrow for better or worse.

You guys, I'm a bit of a wreck today. I'm just so scared. I've worked myself up into thinking that after today we're getting a national abortion ban and that my trans son is going to lose any rights he has, esp as a minor. I need to talk myself down a little bit.

I voted right at 7 and it's usually pretty quiet but there was a long line as I was walking out.

I voted right at 7 and it's usually pretty quiet but there was a long line as I was walking out. I voted early last week and it was a crazy long wait at my closest location. The church we usually vote at on election day is right next to our daycare and at 7:05 the parking lot was FULL, people were parking on the side street (and the lot is HUGE), and the line was down the sidewalk. I have never ever seen that before. I feel this is a good sign. Also hi. I'm here. My stomach is going to be in knots for several days, I feel.

Huge hugs, downwarddog ❤️ I don't know how much I'll be around today, especially this evening. My stomach already hurts.

She said 3 years was too long to wait for another one

I voted over the weekend. But I had the kids wear their "Future Voter" stickers today that we got from the board of elections. I'm wearing my I voted sticker today as well. The campus is having an election results watch party starting at 8pm. They're really working on hyping up the vote. Unfortunately even if I didn't have the kids, or I thought they would have a smidgen of fun, I don't think I'd enjoy a results party. I'll sweat it out at home and hang with you all here. I never go to the E Night parties. I have to wear soft clothes and eat my feelings.

Done. Way bigger turnout than I've ever seen for midterms. Most were silver hairs, but that's pretty standard for my area.

Hugs downwarddog, I know it might not help much in this moment but in my rural one-horse hometown there has been an overwhelming (and frankly shocking to me) amount of support for a trans teen that was targeted by a group that is parroting all the M4L stuff. They have someone running for school board as a write-in and I'm feeling more confident that it will go nowhere than I did when it first came up. 🏳️⚧️

I voted for the first time in PA today! M walked to the polling place with us, and he too was disappointed that he couldn't vote RajahMD. But then he made friends with all the poll workers, who gave him a sticker and M&Ms.

I mailed in my absentee ballot last week (in NY) as we’re still in Morocco on a fabulous kid-free vacation. I guess I’ll see the results tomorrow morning here. 😬

I met my first trans man when he decided to transition 20 years ago and the leaps and bounds that have been made since are incredibly heartwarming. Even in the last few years!!! ♥️
