Anyone still hanging on by a thread like I am? I haven’t watched yet, but plan to later this morning. It’s part of DS’s homeschooling curriculum, as Real Housewives was yesterday. Hopefully this isn’t a spoiler, but Chris Carmack’s posts with his wife are corny and make me laugh. www.instagram.com/reel/CjY8pcEOft2/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

I watched it and I kind of liked it (I'll go sit in the corner now and think about what I just said). I thought it was a little reminiscent of the older days with the interns and I liked that they weren't all these all stars. I did not like the ending when {Spoiler}freaking Owen & Teddy came back. Couldn't they just stay away!!

I stopped watching in 2020, but I'm still rewatching old seasons. I'm currently on season 3.

I’m here, still hanging on. I actually didn’t hate the episode though I felt it was a bit lackluster for a season opener.
I like the new interns, I agree it was nice that they made it feel more like the beginning with all of them, even though obviously they are all “rejects” whereas the first class of interns were all overachievers and whatever.
I loved them showing a Gen Z version of Meredith, just fine with a casual ONS and moving on without pining for Linc.
I hope Grey and Nick get back together, since I do like that actor and character. I was happy to see Bailey even if briefly.
I love Alexis Floyd (Griffith) and think she’s beautiful so I am happy she’s one of the new interns.
I am so rolling my eyes at Owen coming back with just a 6 month supervision punishment. You flee the state and then just poof it’s all fine? So crazy and unrealistic but I mean, I guess these doctors are invincible in this world.

I think I’m also in the camp of liking the new interns. I love seeing the full circle of Meredith as chief with interns like she was.
Did I hear right that the one intern is related to Derek and Amelia?
I was over Owen and Teddi coming back.
I loved Meredith‘a response to Linc coming forward.

I completely missed it during the episode. 😂 We don’t know which sister has this kid, but it’s been mentioned Derek has like 4 sisters.

Nancy, Kathleen and Liz are the other sisters. Nancy is that actress who played Ms Honey in Matilda, Kathleen I don’t remember the actress, and Liz is Neve Campbell. Wonder which one it is…

Yes, after he said Derek's line in the operating room, Amelia made a comment to Meredith about how he always looked up to Uncle Derek. So I assume it's one of the other sisters' kids.

The new interns have a nostalgic feel for me. I loved when they were all sitting on the hospital beds and the beepers went off. Felt like Season 1.

I am catching up now, just watched ep 2 and starting on ep 3.
I didn’t think 90s/early aughts Scott Speedman was that cute, but I am finding older Scott Speedman quite hot.

This was another episode that felt very "old greys" with how they utilized the interns for the sex ed. I thought it was a fun episode, even if it didn't have anything crazy or moving the plot forward much. I appreciate that Shonda gives no shits about partisanship and is very obvious in where her political/ideological stances lie with her anti-gun violence and pro-choice episodes.
I'm happy that Amelia and Kai are still together. I was annoyed at their storyline at first because of her complicated relationship with Linc, but I think Kai is good for her too. I'm also still rooting for Jo and Linc. I want those two to be happy, they've been burned so badly by others!
I liked that they made Zola gifted and she has no genetic link to Meredith or Derek so she's just super smart on her own and maybe it will take some of the familial pressure off that Grey had to deal with as the daughter of THE Ellis Grey.

I'm enjoying how the episodes so far harken back to "old Greys" - hanging out on gurneys and all. Makes me feel old sometimes, seeing how fresh faced they are compared to Meredith et al. I am happy Bailey's coming back and her advocating for herself and what she needs for family/work/life balance was great. I like Amelia and Kai together, and I also hope Jo and Linc find their way to one another, especially if these are the last seasons the show will be on. I'm ok with a nice and neat bow for them, after all they've been through. Schmidt is cracking me up this season, he needs some chill. Maggie and Winston seem out of step - I don't want that for them. As for Owen and Teddy, I care not, they are a drag. As for Zola, IMO genetics or no, I think she still may feel the pressure, being Meredith's daughter and Ellis' granddaughter. The intervention of Mer at the door where Zola was puzzling was good, these people care about her and she needed to hear what they were saying.

abbandkaa I definitely agree she could still face pressure given who her mom is, but hopefully her extreme giftedness being of her own accord will help separate it a bit. I'm also glad that Maggie will be there to help her since she can relate to being a young black teenager being crazy smart.

I am not a fan of increasing kids roles on most shows and this is no different. I feel like this is the setup for Ellen Pompeo to leave. Zola will do a gifted program in Minnesota and Meredith moves there.
I really want this show to be over.

I hadn’t even started the new season because I was pretty sure I would hate everything about it. Sick in bed today and decided to go for it. I’m really, really liking it! The nephew twist was quite a shock. (Haven’t read this thread yet. Didn’t want spoilers)

I’m annoyed at how long we will have to wait after the break. That seems like an excessively long one. Ugh!
I am actually really enjoying this season more than I have in a long time. Whatever they are doing with the writing to make it feel more old school is working.
I even got a bit sad about Ellis’s house burning. Just so much history in that house.
Also I have been thinking for several weeks that the actress who plays Jules is super hot so I finally googled her. Turns out she is bi which instantly made her even more attractive to me lol. 😍
Ugh when are Jo and Linc gonna finally give in?

I’m all caught up (it’s been a great day for me lol). I’m loving it. I haven’t liked any new characters in a long time; or at least it takes me awhile to warm up to them; but I’m really liking all the interns. They’re doing a good job mixing their storylines with the OGs so it doesn’t seem too forced. I was sad about the house burning. It did seem strange Meredith decided to move so quickly. Poor Scott Speedman. I wonder what will happen with his character. I wonder if we’ll still see Meredith at all kind of like they’re doing with Jackson. Probably not, but I would like to.
When this show (finally) comes back on, I will have a new baby. Which seems forever away.

I am also enjoying this season in a way I haven't in years. I really don't care at all about Maggie/Winston or Teddy/Owen relationship issues, so it's nice to have some of the new intern storylines that hearken back to the initial seasons of the show.
I got a little teary at the idea of the house that Meredith has lived in her whole life burning down. A fire is traumatic regardless, but that house has so many memories of her mother, Derek, and her children wrapped up in it.

I wonder whatever happened to the house that Derek built? Does she still own that? Maybe that’s where Maggie and Winston will live.

I thought Maggie and Winston had their own place. They just spend a lot of time at Meredith's.
I always assumed she sold the house Derek built.
