I actually appreciated the Maggie/ Winston moments this episode. I think they are dealing with what a lot of couples that work together deal with. Also, I think Kim McCreary looks gorgeous this season.
I dont care about the new interns or Nick or Owen and Teddy.
I wish Amelia got a storyline. Kai only shows up once in a while and I think their acting style is too wooden for me. Levi, no story; Jo, no story; Link, no story. Stop introducing new characters while established ones get nothing. Get rid of the Jo's and Links if you are going to ignore them in favor of new intern class 29485858.

I saw that and her post was kind of cryptic like does she mean the end of the season or after this midseason break? She's obviously in the next episode to say goodbye before she goes to Boston but...that seems so sudden. That being said, I will still enjoy the show without her, especially with all the other stuff they have been doing this season. But I can't imagine it gets renewed next year, right? I can't see them doing it without her for a full season.

willow The article I read said she had committed for eight episodes this season and has already been in seven, but that she also said something about leaving the door open to come back and visit. Like you, though, I don't know that I see the show lasting long without her.

I saw an article about a week before Ellen Pompeo made her announcement. It said she would only appear in one more episode this season but that she would continue to do the voiceover work indefinitely. I bet she also remains listed as a producer, she seems to have that kind of relationship with Shonda Rimes.

I assumed they were going to try to keep it going as long as the ratings are there. Hence the new interns. It seems if she were only doing 8 episodes and then they planned to end it after this season, they wouldn’t have wasted time setting this all up.

It seems like the next phase in the Grey’s Anatomy Universe. 🤣

I like parts of this season but in recent years Grey’s has just gotten way too preachy. I used to love how they would weave social issues into the storylines and it felt like they had a purpose. Now it just feels like we get the characters lecturing us, which makes it a lot less powerful and I end up just rolling my eyes. Even if it’s a cause I believe in.

For the most part I was really happy with this episode. It’s definitely time for Meredith to go. I still dislike Teddy, but most of the characters have hated being chief, so if she gets it maybe I won’t hate it completely. I like this new resident class, and I really loved the nostalgia of them all moving into Meredith’s old house.

Am I the only person who thinks this is all just a pr stunt? I think Meredith will be back by the middle of next season. I think I read she needed time off to film something for Netflix but that she is still keeping her producer credit and doing the voiceover work. She may be leaving but she’s not going far.

I feel like she might show up for occasional episodes, but I'd be surprised if she wanted to go back to that role full time after getting a chance to do other things. 20 years is a long time to play the same character, especially when there's not much more for Meredith to do, and Ellen is able to keep stay connected to the show behind the scenes and take on other roles. Maybe I'm projecting, but if I were her, I wouldn't go all in again.

I have to admit, even though she's not in the episodes, I'm still glad Ellen is doing the voice-over parts for the beginning and the end of the show. I watched this week and didn't miss her being in it, and still somewhat enjoyed it (at least as much as I have enjoyed most of the episodes the past few years) other than zoning out through the parts with Teddy and Owen because they just bore me to death and I don't care about them.
Still team time to end this show but will hang on till the bitter end if it kills me though.

I feel like they are just starting over with new characters on the same damn show. Let it die, Shonda. Let. It. Die.

I do love these new characters, but it feels like starting back from the beginning and I just can’t dedicate that many years again. Time to be done.

I am so sick of Teddy and Owen. They are two of my least favorite characters and always have been TBH.

They could have ended the show with the little montage of all the new interns setting up Meredith's house and left it as a "the cycle continues" moment
I'm so over it but I just can't quit. I've been saying that for years at this point 🤦♀️

So honestly I am kind of loving this season. Even with Meredith (especially with? ha) and Maggie leaving. It feels so much more like early seasons and I think they finally found a group of interns that click super well together like the OG group did. I am honestly not even mad that they renewed for another season since I like this one so much. Even with the somewhat heavy handed "social issue" stuff that while I appreciate, can get a little on the nose.
