Omg we get it. But you don’t get to decide what someone takes time to do and what someone did for someone. My tucking gosh I’m with STP I think the monarch should be no more and things should be done. They are racist as fuck and I’m glad meghan got the hell out. I also see meghan there sad about the Queen and she has said they have a relationship so I have conflicting thoughts because if Meghan can go back and honor her and a granny why can’t I? I haven’t said I decide what people do though. I’m nearly commenting on those things and been told that’s trolling? Ok. The lace overlay is giving me Prom 2005 vibes. But I don’t hate it. It was an update to an older dress (seen on right)  I like the update but I wonder if it actually saves any money/carbon/whatever they’re trying to save to do this? |

Generally tourists everywhere visit fancy buildings with fancy artifacts from that country/city they are visiting. It's literally part of the reason for the tourism. This is not unique to the UK or the Royal Family.

Unrelated but my dads elderly dog needed to be put down a few months before he passed away. He was SO crushed but obviously a puppy was not what any of us needed (he had terminal cancer, on hospice) so I let my dad and brother “borrow” my cocker spaniel. 🥺 Of course… when my dad passed away my brother was too sad for me to ask for my dog back and she’s much happier being the queen of the house and not getting harassed by my kids in her senior years so…. This is so sweet. And what family is about ❤️ Thank you (and you too swellist) for the kind words. I still see her several times a week because my brother brings her over to visit. It really just seemed to be the only way I could make myself useful at the time. One of mt most cherished photos is my dad petting her after losing his other pup. I’m glad she was able to offer him comfort and companionship when everything else in life sucked |

I have complicated feelings about this. I like the modeling of a behavior, but it would be even more baller if one of these people in a position of power would take on the whole fast fashion industry in a concrete way. It’s hard for someone who has a personal tailor available to rework their couture gowns to tell a plebe, with any credibility, why they should not buy a new dress from Shein. Colin Firth’s wife (estranged wife? I don’t actually know, they are vague about it) Livia has done work in that field. Her whole Instagram is sort of annoying, “Look at this beautiful job my tailor did reworking this Gap sweater from 2010,” which, again, “must be nice.” But she does seem to be actively involved in the field of trying to reduce considerable fashion waste. That may have been more of a tangent than you wanted to your off-hand comment, but it’s not sandwiches? Maybe it’s not that deep, and Mary just wants The People to know she is frugal, and doesn’t know or mind that it’s the bare minimum. |

One can appreciate architecture for architecture's sake and history for history's sake. It sure as hell doesn't mean we have an encompassing love for terrible figures and purposes they represent. |

Given that each dress probably costs anywhere from $5k-$15k, in the long run yes. ETA though I agree it's not as satisfying as it might be |

And without that there isn’t a big reasoning or want for visiting that little old island. I think British people always just saw it as just being a consistent thing of it’s just how it is. No one sits around daily thinking about the royal family, it’s just something that.. is. Now with a change in the running of things I hope more people start to question what truly is the point or worth in them. I am sure they aren't thinking about the Royal family daily, but the citizens show up for weddings, jubilees, etc. so they do care. They tore Meghan to shreds for being Black (citizens and media) so it starts over there NOT in America. |
