I have wondered if it would be triggering for them, as the viewing of flowers etc was like what they did when Diana died. 😔 This is one of the less cited reasons I think the monarchy should be abolished - it is traumatizing for its participants just by the way it’s structured. This is not a normal way to human. If you listen to “You’re Wrong About,” mike says during the Princess Diana series that he’s come to view the monarchy as a human rights violation/borderline human trafficking and frankly he made some damn good points for it.

It will be interesting to see if any of will and Kate’a kids take York. I’d want to stay far away from it. Also Google told me that Edward decided he liked the “Wessex” title after watching Shakespeare in Love. And that also he has had to wait for the Duke of Edinburgh to revert to the crown which only happened once Charles became king? Idk if that’s true. Andrew has to die to give up York but it's also tied with Duke of Albany so maybe Louis can have that one? (It would be Louis?) Wait. If it's 2nd son, if Andrew kicks it while Charles is King, wouldn't it be eligible for Harry first?

Pretty sure The Dukedom returned to the crown upon Philips death. Everyone has been wondering why they haven’t just given it to Edward already. Especially now with the immediate Prince of Wales-ing it’s like… why?

If Will then Louis would be, I believe.

Especially now with the immediate Prince of Wales-ing it’s like… why? That was my understanding too. But Googling now mentioned the Charles King thing. Like maybe when Phillip died it should Go to Chuck and now it’s all the way reverted since he’s King now?? No idea. It’s too confusing. Team give-it-to-Ed-already.

The Dukedom of Edinburgh was created as a hereditary dukedom by King George VI for Prince Philip on his marriage to, then, Princess Elizabeth. Due to it's nature as a hereditary dukedom, it was instantly inherited by Philip's oldest son on his death, Prince Charles. When Charles became king, it merged with the crown, Charles can now recreate it and give it to Edward, or anyone else he wishes.

Hypothetical question: if Charles dies while Will's kids are still minors, what would their names be when their dad is king? Anyone know what Anne/Andrew/Edward went by when they were kids? Also, what duchies are left to give to the Cambridge kids when they grow up/marry? Other than the Edinburgh one, which could possibly be given to Edward as speculated. Before Elizabeth was Queen the house was just Windsor so without googling I think that’s what their last name would have been, if they used them. After she became Queen they changed to Mountbatten-Windsor because Philip was a big strong manly man who demanded his name be used too damn it. So I guess after that they would have been styled M-W, but I don’t know if they really used a last name. Possible dukedoms for Wills kids are endless. There are so fucking many. I couldn’t begin to speculate. This is the story I’ve always heard, too. It has always struck me as really weird, though. Prince Philip grew up without a last name, he was simply Prince Philip of Denmark and Greece, no last name. When he married Princess Elizabeth, he became a British citizen and had to renounce his Greek and Danish royal titles. So that’s when he took the name Mountbatten. But even that was kind of a made up name. His family line was Battenberg, but that sounded too German in the years following WWII so his Uncle Louis changed it. So the name he insisted be added to Windsor was not actually a name that was tied either to him or his family. It was weird that he went all-in on insisting it be added to Windsor.

I don't care about your feels on philo. But this mentality is annoying to me. Where i live currently does not dictate how I feel about the polítics or policies of my other home country. Most of us not living in the country we grew up in still have family there and care very deeply about what happens there. Don't bring in bs like that to this conversation. Am I not allowed to ask? She has very strong feelings and I am curious if she lives there. I never said one way or another what my intent was with asking. Also, I have no idea if she is British or not. I do have family in the Uk, children born there, and my husband is from there. So it came from a place of curiosity, not trying to bring bs into this. it is well known that she is a British person who now lives in the US, so i assumed it was a dig.

Nina of Greece is the most “could be a commoner” royal I’ve ever seen. She looks like she won a contest and is so happy about it.

The press is also reporting that Andrew and Fergie will have custody of the Queen’s Corgis.
