Isnt that part of the schtick? The crown passes “instantly and imperceptibly” or something like that? Yeah there’s ceremonies and pomp and such, but the actual title is never empty. Dunno if it’s the same for the Wales title, but that’s something Charles would have since he was a toddler. Will is already past any minimum age so it makes sense not to wait? The Prince of Wales title is not automatic; it has to be given. Charles did not get it in 1952; he got it in 1958. Right. I was trying to compare that Charles wouldn’t have gotten it at the same time as her becoming Queen at least in part because of his young age. Age is a non-issue entirely for Will. I do not know farther back how long a new monarch has waited to give that title to their heir.

The Clarence House Twitter still says Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, so someone is slacking I think because his Twitter is now the official Royal Family Twitter. Idk what happens to the Clarence House Twitter now? Will and Kate have the Kensington one? Who inherits the twitters?

Did they go immediately change their Twitter handle again to add it? I mean… they should. It’s their literal names now. The Royal website also updated everyone’s titles and names almost immediately. It’s their legal names. As a kid, that's got to feel so strange. Yesterday morning- Cambridge. Yesterday evening- Cambridge-Cornwall. Today- Wales. Actually, I don't know how or if they change the kids' names like that, but it's odd to think abou it.

I'm not saying Charles isn't an emotionally stunted racist who didn't understand why his son and DIL couldn't just ignore wall to wall media attacks and KOKO, but I do think he loves them. I think you’re right. It’s such a complicated dynamic and I still really feel for Harry and Meghan and what they’ve been though but I do believe Charles loves his kids. I think maybe he loves them in a weird stunted aristocratic way? They all need therapy. Except for Harry and Meghan of course, they've already done therapy.

How many times is too many for your last name to potentially change during the school day? 😂 Do we actually know what or even if W&K are using one for the kids right now?

But the second she took her last breath they were legally Cornwall. Like if they had to have signed a document after they would have had to have written the whole spiel. HRH Bla bla blah of Cambridge and Cornwall. And now they are legally the Wales. Plus it’s not like Kate’s just hopping on IG in free time waiting in carline after school. Someone who didn’t just lose their grandmother did it for them. Right, their staff are just doing their jobs. Will isn’t editing it himself.

I think it happened right before he turned 21 so there's probably an age requirement I don’t think there is. It is given to the heir apparent, but There are no responsibilities that come with it. Maybe they waited until he was 21 so that he could fully appreciate the honor and the fact that he would one day become king.

Did I miss the date of the funeral announcement? He didn't mention that yet. Right?

They were using Cambridge I believe. George Cambridge. Now they will be George Wales. Which is a win for Louis who now only has to learn a 5 letter last name 😂

I wonder what it means William had inherited the duchy of Cornwall which wasn’t that the source of Harry’s income?
Charles was subsidizing Harry wasn’t he?

My guess is they have some sort of agreement in place already. The Queen wasn’t young. I’m sure all the post death stuff has been cemented. Harry also is rich in his own right with inheritance from the Queen Mother and Diana, I believe.

The QM left him a sizable bequest because he was not going to be on equal financial footing with William and family. I'm guessing that the Queen also planned for him and his family.

I’ve seen the criticism about how quickly names are changing (not necessarily just here). But it makes sense to me. If you can say nothing else about the British royals, they have a strong dedication to the stiff upper lip, continuing the line aspect. Yeah I don’t get why we are stuck on this. It’s their literal names. For me I was being funny. I know that they aren't changing their handle really it is their staff.

It was a nice speech and I was struck that Charles and his siblings are orphans now. Not that I give a fig for Andrew. I am probably alone in this but I thought he got a little extra choked up when mentioning Harry and Meghan and had a longer pause than usual. I’m glad that, despite the issues between them, he and his younger son will have time together during the next few weeks. I sincerely hope this can be a time of a bit of healing for the family. I agree with this. I think that sometimes death makes you think. Charles lost both of his parents and essentially a son, dil, and grandkids and I think it hits different.

I have less feelings on it today. They had Cambridge uploaded like 20 minutes after the death announcement and that gave me pause. But the second she took her last breath they were legally Cornwall. Like if they had to have signed a document after they would have had to have written the whole spiel. HRH Bla bla blah of Cambridge and Cornwall. And now they are legally the Wales. FOR ME it isn't about their legal names it is Social media. It could wait, BUT again it isn't them changing it so it is a moot point but I chuckled.

Those early pictures of them you could see that he liked her.

And how he was raised also contributes to a lot of this. That whole do your duty stuff and ignore. But I think he does love his kids and grandkids.

WEELLLLLLL, according to The Cut article that lives rent-free in my head, they weren't on such firm footing. They needed that Spotify deal or whatever to buy their Santa Barbara home. I mean, IDK what that means to rich people. Like now they could pash in cash? Who knows.

I think they won't ever have trouble putting food on the table, but with the type of visibility they have their expenses are bound to be high I have wondered if some of his money is in trusts that pay out in installments or you can't withdraw more than a certain % at once. Stocks, bonds, investments, etc, take time, which is why they needed a friend to "lend them a mansion" while they liquidated some assets
