There still has to be a ceremony, but now we know it’s coming sooner rather than later. Did they go immediately change their Twitter handle again to add it? I mean… they should. It’s their literal names now. The Royal website also updated everyone’s titles and names almost immediately. It’s their legal names.

Now I am not 100% on this, but they might be able to use the title Prince and Princess of Wales now, as it has been announced. Just as Charles is King Charles, even though he hasn’t not offically been coronated. Sounds like it. I am not surprised because again he isn't dumb. He knows that Will and Kate are the ones people want so he is going to give the people what they want

So Will is in charge of the money now right? Yes. I hope he cuts Andrew off at the knees

I’ve seen the criticism about how quickly names are changing (not necessarily just here). But it makes sense to me. If you can say nothing else about the British royals, they have a strong dedication to the stiff upper lip, continuing the line aspect.

The crown passes “instantly and imperceptibly” or something like that? Yeah there’s ceremonies and pomp and such, but the actual title is never empty. Dunno if it’s the same for the Wales title, but that’s something Charles would have since he was a toddler. Will is already past any minimum age so it makes sense not to wait?

I guess since Charles was king immediately, he need an official heir, in case something happens before they do all the ceremonies. The title of the heir is prince of Wales so just announce it then its official and everyone can carry on preparing for the funeral.

"My darling Mama" I'm not crying. Right. You saw him choke up My grandfather was 95 when he passed. He had a wonderful life with a large family and was predeceased by my grandmother by about 5 years. He was ready to go. It was peaceful. My mom was still an emotional wreck because her touchstone was gone. So I really felt for him.

Im guessing it's always happened but we're more aware of it with social media and so much tv coverage.

It was a nice speech and I was struck that Charles and his siblings are orphans now. Not that I give a fig for Andrew.
I am probably alone in this but I thought he got a little extra choked up when mentioning Harry and Meghan and had a longer pause than usual. I’m glad that, despite the issues between them, he and his younger son will have time together during the next few weeks. I sincerely hope this can be a time of a bit of healing for the family.

I don’t know how to express what I want to say. I’m glad he mentioned them, it just felt awkwardly placed. I honestly just don’t know where else it would go? Like a post script? “Ope, forgot to mention Hank and Megz.” Now that I’m processing it, I wonder if it’s a neutrally positive way of telling the public to not expect any changes to Harry’s roles and duties.

The Prince of Wales title is not automatic; it has to be given. Charles did not get it in 1952; he got it in 1958.

I'm not saying Charles isn't an emotionally stunted racist who didn't understand why his son and DIL couldn't just ignore wall to wall media attacks and KOKO, but I do think he loves them.

But the second she took her last breath they were legally Cornwall. Like if they had to have signed a document after they would have had to have written the whole spiel. HRH Bla bla blah of Cambridge and Cornwall. And now they are legally the Wales.

I think it happened right before he turned 21 so there's probably an age requirement

I think you’re right. It’s such a complicated dynamic and I still really feel for Harry and Meghan and what they’ve been though but I do believe Charles loves his kids. I think maybe he loves them in a weird stunted aristocratic way?

Really? I thought it was nice. Like if he doesn’t mention them, then what? I don’t know how to express what I want to say. I’m glad he mentioned them, it just felt awkwardly placed. I think I get where you're coming from. In the flow of the speech itself, it felt oddly tacked on. I get there's not much to elaborate on in regards to their roles now, but it felt like a truncated statement.

I wonder what happens to Clarence House now. Will Charles and Camilla continue to live there? Will it be empty? Would Camilla live there eventually if she outlines Charles?
