Also got the booster and flu shot together last year and I was fine. So I’ll just get everything as soon as I can.

Oh no athn64 I’m so sorry. It really sucks to make it so far and then boom. Fx everyone else stays negative.

We had a good run. That it was DD2 who got it is kind of shocking. She's the more careful of the girls and diligently masks up at school everyday when DD1 takes hers off.

I wouldn't wait if you had covid in the early summer, it was a different strain at that time, wasn't it? I can't keep track anymore.
I'm getting mine asap since it's been since last November since I had my booster and I haven't had covid so no other immunity.
I hope the 2 month thing is the same for 5-11 kids because mine got their booster a few weeks ago so they would be able to get it in late October if it becomes available then.

DD2 is sick with hopefully just a back to school cold. She came home today with a sore throat and she has some mild sniffles. The weird thing is when I check her temp it's way different in each ear. Like 99.3 in one and 100.7 in the other. So I'm keeping her home assuming the 100.7 is right 🤷🏻♀️ I'm just glad I checked both ears or I wouldnt have known. Home covid test was negative so far. She felt better by bedtime but did fall asleep early and the temp readings were still the same.
It did give me the opportunity to look up the updated expiration dates on the tests we have, thankfully they are good until Feb 2023 now.

In our town, the week my family tested positive, it was 50% BA.5 and 50% other strains that week, so who knows what we had. Definitely can’t count on it being BA.5.

BA.5 is a sneaky bitch.

I'm feeling very #new, but how often should I be testing those of us who were negative? We have four boxes of tests atm, but can get more. I don't go anywhere, so should I worry less about me and test H and DD1 who have work/school?

Our latest daycare protocol was to test every other day but we tested every day for our own peace of mind.

I'll be getting the new booster ASAP. I go back to work next week aand the kids go back to school. H and I are basically waging bets on how long it takes for me or the kids to bring it home.
He also got his COVID booster and flu shot at the same time last year and was fine. For the spreadsheet.
Also, hi.
I had to step away from politics for a bit there. My head space got really dark. But I'm feeling ok to wander back in now.

She's fine. Just a low fever and the sniffles. She's way too energetic for a sick kid.

cnf I feel like the same, that it's just a matter of time before DD1 or I bring it home. We showed up at a home visit this morning and the mom came to the door in her robe and a mask on. Said we couldn't come in because she tested positive for covid yesterday. But I am assuming that the little girl will show up for school on Tuesday. I'm not even sure what our guidance is anymore.

Here's good info on the booster timing, shared by YLE - sorry if this only shows as a link, not sure how to embed it. (The summary is it says optimal timing for booster is at least 60 days after infection, but they don't know if it's 60 or sometime longer than that.)

Do we have any data on Pfizer vs. Moderna for the omicron booster?

We aren’t testing daily. We don’t have enough stock in at homes and insurance doesn’t cover pcr now and we are high deductible with not a huge HSA. So we have to save as many test kits as possible. I thought CDC recommendation was also no longer testing asymptomatic people except for day 5 after exposure?

So for those that have had Covid in the past few months, what are you thinking about omicron booster timing? I had the first booster (not eligible for second) in Nov 2021, and Covid in June 2022. I’m inclined to wait a month or two so that the window of months most likely to produce a big spike are within the booster’s most effective window, but cases are still fairly high where I am (just dropped from high to substantial), so I’m also hesitant to be unprotected when I could be protected. I'm almost exactly the same. I am not sure either - mh hasn't gotten COVID yet though so he will be running to get the updated booster. I may wait a month or so?

I've had Pfizer all three times so I was thinking I would go with Moderna. I'm interested if one is better though.

Similar - I've had two Pfizers and one Moderna, so all else equal I'll probably go with Moderna just to balance out, but if data or availability is different, of course that will guide my choice.

Anecdotal but I follow a few doctors on tiktok and they all say if they had a choice they would do Moderna since it's a higher "dose". I've done all Moderna because I didn't have a choice when it first came out and I've just stuck with it.

I have no clue what the guidelines are anymore either. Our next door neighbors were just in St Louis last week and apparently picked up COVID there. My kids tried to go over and play and were swiftly sent packing. And DD2 spiked a fever tonight. We just cleared HFM out of our house this past week. Mother fuck.

Now DD1 has a fever tonight. I'm assuming she caught whatever her sister had last night. Hopefully its equally short-lived because DD2 has been fine all day today after like 6-8 hours with a fever last night. I'm just hoping I don't get it because I work tomorrow and can't afford to be sick.

I'm symptomatic, but still a negative on rapids. So that's fun. I hate that!! It’s maddening. Like let’s just get the confirmation and start the clock already. I’m suspicious of DS now too. He tested neg on rapid yesterday AM, came home from school sniffling and later admitted his throat was “scratchy”. His rapid is still negative tonight but… I’m not hopeful.

My throat and head hurts and I'm very lethargic. But negative. I assume it's inevitable because I'm DD2's person and she's very clingy, even when she's not sick.

When covid went through my house in February, I never turned a rapid. DD and H did, and I had the same symptoms H did, just a week later.
