Joe's in the Rose Garden, aviators on, talking to reporters. He actually looks great. Much different from Treason McSweaty at his racism rally this weekend. Praise science for vaccines and Paxlovid!

Is it? I thought it was 5 days with a mask. That is what the CDC says. Nowhere does it say negative test. It says 5 days if symptoms are gone/going away, and then mask for an additional 5 days. But that would mean I'm "safe" on day 11 and I'm still not. a relative is traveling today cuz it’s day 5 and CDC says it’s okay (even though he’s still testing positive on a rapid)…I just can’t believe that is the recommendation and where we’re at 🤦♀️

We have covid time off still (until September) but now no one is using it. It’s our busy season and everyone is just powering through. I already told them if/when I get it, I’m laying my ass in bed and they can go on without me.

I have COVID. I don't go anywhere except masked errands. My husband is negative and he's going to get the kids and getting PCR tests on the way home and then we'll do rapids on them at home. Neither had any symptoms. Fuck. I felt fine and then a sore throat, headache and muscle aches all came on quick.

I'm sorry piratecat. This variant seems to be EVERYWHERE. I hope it stays mild for you and doesn't spread.

And the beautiful COVID isolation camp is rented out so I have nowhere else to go but to stay inside our bedroom.

I’m afraid it’s making me look bad but I don’t know how else to tell her to take a day off. My husband tried to work through COVID and I seriously think that's why he took so long to feel better. I worked an hour or two per day, on stuff that was mission-critical and more stressful to not do than to do - and I felt basically better by day 5 or 6 and negative day 7. He worked not full days, but a solid 6-ish hours daily, and he was negative on day 9 and didn't feel totally better for about two weeks. I know sometimes not working just makes it harder in the long run, but she might be making things worse for the team if she's extending her illness.

I don’t know what more I can do. She’s off the rest of the week on PTO after today so I guess I just hope she’s ok next week.

My doctor says paxlovid is approved for anyone over 40. Would you take it? I feel achy but it’s fine. I took some Advil but I’m not sure it’s doing much.

piratecat, I took it when we had it in May. I was really sick though. I think it's most effective the earlier it is taken.

CA makes so much more sense 😩 now that you mention it I don’t see how it’s even possibly been 5 days the start of symptoms. Ugh that makes it even worse. It’s already upsetting to me that he’s traveling and exposing people when he’s still showing a positive, even if it’s okay’d by the CDC I feel so isolated. I’m tired of feeling like I’m the last one in my family still taking it very seriously but I’m chronically ill too so I’m extra wary about catching it.

I'm so sorry, piratecat. FWIW I had it about three weeks ago now and I was not offered Paxlovid (I'm 42), nor was my 73 year old dad. I felt really terrible for 24 hours, then pretty bad for two more days, after which I felt 90% back to normal for an additional week. It took 2 weeks for me to test negative again. If I had been offered Paxlovid I probably would have taken it, to avoid how terrible I felt for basically three days. I have heard horror stories about the rebound infections, though.

DH got covid and he was ducking miserable and 24hrs or less than after he started Paxlovid he felt SO much better. No rebound infection for either us or his cousin or stepdad who got paxlovid too.

I’m sorry piratecat. This variant really is everywhere. We most likely had BA.2 according to the small variant sequencing my state does. We weren’t offered paxlovid and symptoms stayed pretty mild, but I wasn’t able to rest adequately due to a Covid positive sick baby and I had a harder time with post Covid sinus stuff that I would do anything to not experience again. If I was offered them I’d take them.

My sister’s family was going to visit this weekend so obviously that’s not happening. We’ve only seen them once during the pandemic and I was really looking forward to it.

piratecat I started paxlovid the day I got my positive and was glad I had the option. It seemed to really make me feel better after I had a couple doses in me. Eta I’m sorry
