On a positive note, I lost 2 pounds this week (probably one this and one last week, since i didn't see a change last week.)

She really wants me to try fitness classes with her and she goes to all the new trendy classes. But I'm afraid. I just get in my head that I'm going to embarrass myself or be so out of my element and I don't know. It just holds me back. I don't have any vested interest in your exercise, but I want to address this. It's not just you, I feel like I hear it a lot, and it makes me sad to think of anyone being scared to try something for these reasons. If it's a new class (or new to you), you will likely feel out of your element. That's ok. IME, exercise people are really friendly. They were all new at some point, and most people love to give the new person a hand or point out something for the new person. If they are regulars at the studio, they'll know you're new because they haven't seen you around and you won't know where everything is. So, they won't think you're dumb, just new. I don't know how you'd embarrass yourself. Generally in a class, you're so busy working you can't really concentrate on other people. This isn't always true, though, so in case you're truly and obviously the absolute worst in the class, I want you to know it's unlikely people are laughing at you. Typically IME exercisers root hardest for the newbs and those that struggle. We love to see other people come to exercise and love exercise and know that it's hard for people starting out. We want you to succeed. If you end up somewhere and it isn't like this and the people are bitchy and snotty, then it's a studio culture issue, not a personal issue with you. I wouldn't work out at any studio or gym like that because I hate that culture, but it's rare IME. This is so true. At a lot of our local (smaller) meets, there is almost always someone new that struggle to get in a lift. After missing the first two, they generally have more input coming their way to help keep them from bombing on the next one- generally the meet director, the referees, other lifters, other lifter's coaches- everyone is jumping in to help fix whatever is keeping that person from getting a lift in. We know how much is sucks to be new. We know how much it sucks to bomb as most of us have done it at some point. We don't want to see someone have a bad experience their first time out. And it doesn't matter if you are lifting the bar or 500 lbs- the support is the same. The dickish people tend to flock together, so if that is the culture, time to look elsewhere.

When are you going to start? I'll follow along! I need to start running again. I'm going to start tomorrow (I went to type out "this weekend" then realized the time is here and I must do it). That's awesome! I loved C25K, it turned me into someone who doesn't hate running! My advice, is find a good podcast (or audio book) and try to only let yourself listen when you're running or walking. This way you have motivation to keep active! I've binge-listened to My Favorite Murder during my (still on going) half marathon training. It made me want to get out there so I could listen more!

Well. If we're sharing embarrassing exercise stories: the first time I went to a yoga class I ripped ass so loudly. Like, it reverberated off the wall. That was probably 15 years ago and I haven't been to a yoga class since. It really does happen to everyone. Yogini Kiki who posts around here is a yoga teacher and I remember she once said she bets her students that she'll fart before they do. Although sit ups, running, and v-ups have the same effect on me. And I took a good friend to a Barre class once where we had to do these rolling things on the floor- and we were connected to each other, holding hands and feet and every time I rolled, I farted and we couldn't stop laughing and we ended up sitting on the floor with tears running down our faces while the other Barre ladies gave us death stares.* *The death stares only intensified our mirth.

Oh yea, every time I do a core workout I fart. It's part of life.
I once read an article by a yoga teacher that there were positions that induced BMs and she'd just watch people leave the class to use the restroom one by one, especially morning classes.

I can't remember who initially recommended those Jessica Smith videos, but I checked one out this morning and got in an extra 20 minutes of movement after I got back from my walk and saw that the kids were still asleep.
Thank you!

Today's meals Breakfast: hardboiled egg Lunch: Salad, cantaloupe Snack: hard boiled egg and cucumbers Dinner: Pizza
I am lacking calorie wise so with all of this in I am still at 1,000 left for the day so I am deciding on what to add to my meal plan for the day.
Today's plan is to meal plan for next week at lunch because this week was back to school week and busy. Next week we start swim and basketball lessons again plus my work outs so I need a plan.

I feel like my body is rebelling.
Here I am, 3-ish weeks into this "healthy living" overhaul and I wake up to what looks like the beginning of a stye on my right eye, multiple zits on my chin, cramps, and now what seems like the beginning of a sinus headache. I don't get it.
I have been sleeping well and working out regularly. I have cut out 95% of all processed foods and base my meals around lean protein, healthy fats, and vegetables. I have completely given up the packaged, bagged snacks at work. I have been feeling great....until today. Today, my body hates me.

I tried and tried to do C25K. I wonder if some people just aren't made for running. I agree. I'm a swimmer. Nothing about running is enjoyable for me. I've tried c25k and could not sick with it

I don't actually get a period anymore because of Mirena, but I get horrible headaches, and pimply when it's time. Yeah, I know that is likely it. But this feels worse than normal and it is pissing me off because I AM BEING HEALTHY DAMMIT.

Farting during squatting is quite common. One of our younger kids (ok, he's 22) did it during a lift and he flipped out and missed the lift. "C, WTF happened?" "I'm so sorry. I just couldn't control it with that much on my back. I really tried to not, but I just couldn't." "Da fuq are you talking about?" ::whispers:: "I farted" We all almost died laughing. And everyone intentionally farted during their next set. Solidarity or something.

And I think zits specific to your chin are pretty much always related to hormones.

I've tried c25k and could not sick with it I love swimming, and I'm a much better swimmer than runner. I have a hard time finding the zen of breath and pace in running, but it seems so natural when I swim. And I love how quiet the water is.

I've decided to try the Italian chicken meal bowls instead of the Greek. It looks less intimidating for my first real meal prep attempt and MFP calculated it to be about 480 calories per bowl.

We went to sushi tonight and I stayed within my points. I'm stuffed and happy. And we walked there and back so I got 12,000 steps today. 😁
No drinking for me tonight because I'm going out tomorrow. It's getting way easier for me to skip drinking so that helps a lot with the calories.

I know I've mentioned refeed days a few times. I found an article that explains exactly why it can be helpful for long term "dieting". www.muscleforlife.com/refeed

I skipped the drink but I did eat the pizza and had 3 wings so it shouldn't have been horrible last night since I had some of the pizza already logged, but I'm up a pound from yesterday and I'm sure it's the bloat.
Today is a birthday party where they are serving you guessed it pizza.

Who has meal plans ready? Just about to start mine. I haven't done one in a couple weeks because of travel and this week will only be sun-tues because we are out of town again, but I've got to have some healthy stuff for those days.

My period started with a vengeance last night and I decided against better judgment to weigh myself anyway. Up 3. Thanks, hormones.
I have been hitting workouts hard for the past few weeks, so I am giving myself some grace today and sticking very low key. I have done some stretching and hope to meet all movement goals by the end of the day...but nothing strenuous.
We are dealing with heavy hurricane rains today, so I have no idea what the day holds. I really need to meal plan. But first, I need to menu stalk some brunch places to find a suitable healthy option.
