Someone posted about Greek Chicken meal prep bowls (I can't remeber who, sorry!) and they sound so good. I'm hesitating because they're 500 calories and 30 grams of fat. That sounds like a lot for just one meal. Are you all doing things like this? I'd like to, but I am scared of committing to "diet" food that has relatively high calories, leaving not much room for breakfast and dinner and snacks. Is it this one?

I don't do the rice with mine I have been just doing the chicken and the tomato salad.
You could also do cauliflower rice.
yes! That sounds so yummy. But the calorie count freaked me out. Cauliflower rice sounds like a good swap, but I don't know how good it would be on day 4 in the fridge. I should try it out to see, huh?

And they sounded really good! How many calories are you eating per day? If you eat more at one meal, you may not need your next snack. When I eat a breakfast that's around 400 calories, I don't snack before lunch. I just ate a bigger lunch than normal (almost 500 calories) and I'm going to see if I can skip my afternoon snack as a result (normally I eat 350-400 & then a 150 cal snack).
ETA - I see the meal prep bowls has been covered.

I'm guessing a fair amount of the calories and fat are coming from the olive oil and I don't see why you'd need that much? You could use less or try cooking the chicken in veggie stock instead. Not sure how many calories it would save, you'd have to play with it but you could also use hummus instead of making the tzatziki sauce. Sometimes I thin it with lemon juice and add dill if I want to use it as more of a dressing.

1370 per day. If I'm smart about my food choices (aka plan ahead like a good girl), I don't really need a morning snack at all. I do need an afternoon one since the time between lunch and dinner can be really long. And only having a really low calorie dinner is tough, since that's the meal I need to cook for H and/or DS too. I have a mental block on making this all work out long-term. But the first step I should take should be making an effort to try and test it out, I guess.

My lunches are usually "bowls" of some sort running 400-500 calories. When I get the right mix I'm full until supper which is good for me because 1 afternoon snack can send me on a tailspin. brux I've used frozen cauli rice and usually get 2 days out of it. Then I don't have it sitting in my fridge for 4 days because that would weird me out too.

Ok, I'm off to Target to buy a stash of meal prep bowls. I have some various things at home, but not a week's worth.

I feel (wrongfully? rightfully?) that I need to go into dinner time with at least 500 calories to use, and I don't know how to make that happen without eating only salads with no-oil dressing for lunch.
I did that for two weeks and got tired of it for lunch. Hence me doing no prep this week.

Brux, are you exercising or just nutritioning? I do an hour of weights two times a week. But I need to do something more. I don't have a gym membership, but I do have an elliptical in the basement that I've used once. I like walking, but I don't know if it's worth the time and effort to get out and walk 45 minutes each day. Like it's not going to make me skinny.

I'm probably all mixed up, but I think the reason I'm fat is my diet, so I feel like I need to fix that and then everything will be fine.

I also wouldn't trust their numbers- calculate it yourself (MFP's recipe calculator is good for this). 500 is not an unreasonable meal amount by any means. The 250 that the Italian bowl claims to be is unreasonable.

Good morning ladies! I got up early and did the last workout of my 6 week strength plan. I can tell my arms are going to be sore tomorrow, but it really felt great. Currently anxiously waiting while my coworkers sort out the massive office taco order while my stomach eats itself. So.hungy. Lunch will be a salad and dinner is italian seasoned turkey with a spicy roasted tomato sauce over zucchini and yellow squash "noodles." H will get some bread too. I started keeping a daily to-do list on my phone with a new app and including various fitness or wellness behaviors I would like to become habits. It has only been a day so far, but it is so satisfying to check them off as complete. I also like the routine of mapping out things I commit to accomplishing the night before. Congrats on finishing the 6 week strength plan! What's next? Thanks! The app I have been using has targeted arm, back, chest, shoulders, core, and legs workouts...so I think I am going to rotate those for a while (aiming at three 45-minute to 1-hour strength workouts a week) and then continue running 2-3 days a week. After a few weeks of that, I kind of want to go through the 6 week program again and just see how much I can increase the weights I use for each movement. This is the first time I have actually had heavy weights to work with and I am really enjoying pushing myself and am starting to see a little definition in my arms and shoulders (I am sure it is only evident to me, but it is nice to see).

I adjusted the yogurt to the full fat Fage, since that's what I'd probably use. I think I'm making these for next week. H is out of town for the end of the week so I can use a few for easy dinners.

Those bowls really do look good. I might switch it up and do those instead of sandwiches for lunch next week!

I'm going to enter in quietly behind nochill, I'm using MFP and CICO. I'm a food-weigher so I had to get back into that habit these last few weeks and it's finally feeling like nbd again. Phew, my logging was really suffering there. I'm pan-frying chicken rubbed with paprika and ground mustard for dinner, it's one of my favorites!

Im back. Vacation damage was only one pound.
Then I lost two days to a hangover. One day of not eating and the next of eating everything. And not exercise.
I packed my lunch today and I'll be walking tonight.

I did that for two weeks and got tired of it for lunch. Hence me doing no prep this week. This whole topic is really resonating for me right now. Coach Jackie actually has me working on this as my action plan this week. She noticed that I mentioned being hungry a couple of times- basically I was hungry all day because I was saving that big chunk of calories for dinner. She has me adding avocado and extra veggies to my breakfast salad- avocado for the fat to keep me full longer and veggies for the extra fillingness. I had been doing my protein shakes (lunch) without almond butter to save calories, but she has me adding it back in. My H has been gone all week and I'm fine on my own, but he'll be home tomorrow and I can start to see how it's going to work then. I am less hungry during the day, which is nice.

I swear it's not pick on Brux day, it just feels like it. I exercise 45minutes- an hour everyday, and it's a lot. I love it. I'm passionate about fitness and I love exercise and the way it makes me feel. I'm also married to a super athletic guy. Exercise is a big priority in our lives. WE ARE A MINORITY. I don't think that kind of schedule is reasonable or sustainable or even desirable for a lot of people. I'm a know nothing, not certified or qualified to give any kind of advice to anyone, but if someone wanted my advice anyway I would say that trying to jump into an exercise schedule like this is ridiculous and will likely end in failure and hatred of exercise. If I were making an exercise plan for Brux, I'd likely look more at trying to get on the elliptical 3-5 times per week for 15 or 20 minutes and continue the strength training. That seems significantly more reasonable for Brux's lifestyle than trying to fit in 45 minutes of exercise a day. I repeat, though, I know nothing and am not authorized to give exercise advice, even on the internet.

How do you handle other people cooking for you? We're staying with my parents while we look for a house and I'm the last one home so meals are already made and sometimes they don't stick to our original meal plan. Plus, trying to please 4 adults and 2 kids can be tricky. I don't want to come off as ungrateful, I really appreciate that my mom does most of the cooking, a huge stress relief. I'm finding it hard to make sure I leAve enough calories for dinner because I never know exactly what we're having.

FIVE additional days of exercise? Fuck that. It's never going to happen.
but if someone could tell me that five days of 15 minutes is equal to or better than one day of 45 minutes, I'm all ears.

hmmm, those articles. I feel like exercise, or at least exercise to lose weight, will never be something I'll do.
I don't envision exercising at a hard sprint level on a regular basis.

I found a hip hop cardio class that meets in my area and it's late enough that I don't make H's evenings miserable, as in I can still make dinner for DS. I'm going to sign up. Hopefully enough other people do so it's not cancelled.

brux an unsolicited tip on the elliptical: I get bored AF. So I do sprint/HIIT intervals so I get more out of it in 15-20 min than 45 min.

brux, my mom hated exercise her entire life. My dad (who was a gym rat like me) was always on her case to exercise. She's tiny- size zero, so it wasn't for weight loss. Anyway, when she was 65(!), she discovered a line dancing class and fell in love. She does it 3x a week and even teaches part-time. If cardio hip hop is what you love, go do that. Every exercise works and consistency and doing what you love are the most important parts. 💕
