brux I don't think 2200 calories is terrible but if it was me I probably be maintaining weight. I use to ignore my "bad" eating days but I'm trying to be honest with what I eat so I've been working on logging everything. It's a mental block for me to not be honest about my crazy eating days. What I'm getting at is usually I'm pleasantly surprised that I didn't really eat 5000 calories. Maybe slowly switch something out. Instead of the 4th piece of pizza have a salad.

And with that, I show you all the road map of why I am overweight. 7 days a week of days like that for 10 years. One day at a time Brux. I am like you. I couldn't believe what I was eating when I tracked the "normal" days before starting.

This is what I am starting with. I used to do 3 pieces of pizza on our pizza nights plus wings. I am now doing 2 pizza and 2 wings and salad if I need to.

Logically, I know the swaps I should be making.
It's been mentioned in Noom before, but I tend to have bad days and good days, but not a mix of ok days. Like, I woke up and decided to get two donuts and then said "fuck it" for the rest of the whole day. Once I'm off track, I figure "why not enjoy staying off track for a whole day and get back to it tomorrow."
It's all psychological.

brux, I have much empathy. That all or nothing is what I keep calling dieters mentality. The tracking has helped me some- realizing that I can splurge but not go off the rails. The only other that really helps (and it only works sometimes) is focusing on how much better I feel when I eat right and don't drink. It's amazing the difference. It's like night and day. I'm also with you in knowing what I should do and not doing it.

My main area where I am struggling is getting enough protein. It is seriously low and I think one of the major reasons I am seriously plateaued. Do you need snack or meal ideas? I agree that it's a key factor in my body losing weight. I sometimes page through various internet lists to get new ideas and then search for recipes to use high-protein ingredients or new preparations of old favorites. www.eatthis.com/high-protein-metabolism

I bought a bunch of these cottage cheeses when they were on sale. SO yummy and filling. They're just expensive and a bit hard to find.

A lady at the co-op told me this flavor was good too. They also have sweet ones, but I like my cottage cheese plain.

Since I'm known as a creeper, I'll share with you all a creeper pro-tip. I go to Whole Foods and local co-op grocery stores and look in the baskets and carts of fit looking people, preferably in workout clothes.
I've found good new snacks and food ideas from their shopping choices. And also I enjoy seeing all of their foods on the checkout belt to see the mix of veggies and fruits and the lack of cookies and ice cream or whatever.

I actually joined a co-op grocery store as a member and it's been good for my consumption of healthier foods. I don't do all my shopping their because of cost and availability of some stuff, but I try to go there once a week to look at their specials and sales.
It doesn't have to end up being 2x the cost of the basic grocery stores if you look for deals or buy in bulk or accept spending a little more for organic stuff or whatever. The fact that I can get bulk dry goods and spices is absolutely a cost saver over the regular grocery stores.

Thanks for sharing this! I was looking at food scales the other day, but decided I didn't *really* need one.
Just ordered it.

For whatever reason I am good at tracking it all - good bad and ugly. I don't know why but I just do it. I more have the problem that I track it and go over and then go 🤷🏻♀️ One thing that does help me is I track ahead as much as possible. Then I just have to add the things I splurge on or deviate from the plan on. That gives me that pause to say do I really want to adjust my plan for this? Or to rework it. Ok, if I have that beer with lunch, I have to take away something from dinner?
Sometime I still do it (treat myself) but some times I don't think it's worth it. Also, seeing a big day does make me reign it in the next day (unless I'm on vacation or something).

I just had to enter my date of birth on Mars's website to get access to their nutritional info on m&ms. Wowzers.

I work for a generational market research company and we have been in talks with a few of the largest candy brands—there are a lot of self-imposed regulations on the marketing they are willing to aim towards minors these days. The birthday thing doesn't surprise me at all.

I've got two weird things. One for brux, is that I always said I could predict the size of a shopper by the food in their cart. It sounds so bitchy when I say it out loud but it's generally true. Also, randomly, once I was at a kid's party, and I was doing a whole30, so mostly observing, but true fact- every single one of the thin mom's declined the cake. Also, I know this is weird, but I still want to share- I got a massage today and after, when I was talking to the massage therapist, she asked if I do yoga. I said yes and was expecting some compliment on my body (which was not forthcoming, BTW) and she said, you're a really good breather. So, I want you all to know that I suck at a lot of stuff, but I excel at breathing and I feel proud of that.

I meal planned for the week and groceries will be delivered tomorrow morning. I made sure there was something green on my plate for every meal. Next step is to find my Fitbit charger.

I think I am going to jump in here. I will haphazardly track and be hung ho then fall right back off. I signed up for Avatar and liked the idea of it. But, I really need accountability. Plus, I think I am finally getting close to a PP period. It has been almost two years. I am in a crazy funk tonight and just can't stop eating. I need to jump back on to MFP bandwagon.

I changed our dinner to tacos yesterday because I had tomatoes to use up so I made homemade pico
Tacos are my weakness as is chips and salsa. But I used cantina thin chips and hard taco shells and stayed within calories! I actually had 50 left for the day.
Also MFP told me I have a record check in days! I've checked in 15 days in a row. This is huge for me. My longest streak before this was 6
