I don't know the good noom/not noom answer. Because I do feel like I need in-patient eating rehab. Having the coach sharing info and checking in is nice and different than anything I've tried.
But everything else about Noom is so bad. Horrible food logging, a database for ants, frustrating group chat, frequent loss of useful information.

Yeah- the one thing I do like about Noom is having someone to check in on me. I think that I'm afraid that if I lose that accountability that I won't be able to hold myself to the plan. And I feel like if I can stick to this plan for four months, that would be a great start to helping me get back on track.
The conversation format is horrible. We always complained about WLC and Noom's is so bad that is makes WLC seem almost reasonable. The database is fairly usable for my life and I'm always mobile (plus I don't have a job) so the lack of desktop version doesn't bother me. But I also wanted to do this with you guys, so that's a factor too.

I think we need to decide by Sunday. I don't know. I haven't loved anything I've seen so far, but I'm afraid if I quit I'll lose the momentum I have so far. And I got the $99 for 4 months price, and I waste that much money every month on nothing. I don't know what I'm holding onto, though. Their content is pretty simplistic compared to the kind of reading I do on similar topics. This is why I'm hoping you all hold me accountable

I... Do not love noom. I have still not heard from my coach beyond the "log for five days and let's see how you do", either.
I'm thinking about just heading over to MFP and keeping up here.

Sundae , what is your coaches name? Jack. I'm also kind of uncomfortable with a man. I know I'm being weird.

Sundae, I don't think that's weird at all. I was reading an article the other day that said that the ideal coach/trainer is someone who is willing to push you a little bit that you feel comfortable being open and vulnerable with. You'll know that when you find it, and if Jack the random internet stranger isn't that person, so be it.

We could all spend our 120 bucks on something good when we're done.

I did the Omada program last year through my work. It is coaching and your on a team. It focuses on education. It doesn't have you log your food in there though and it doesn't get too specific on things. For me it only worked in conjunction with a Whole 30 and then I fell off and just didn't go back. I'm not sure if it's changed since then. I'm also not sure how it works as an individual user as I joined through work and they contract with insurance companies and employers to offer it as a benefit as preventative healthcare.

I'm down with you guys. I would like some kind of plan, though. I honestly worry about doing what JG did and falling off the program after the structured program ends. And that's what I've been doing for the last almost four years now and it's the habit that I am looking to break- for me that swing between all in and not giving a fuck has been deadly to my waistline.
I'll see if I can maybe find something else, and I'm 100% open to ideas, so if anyone has any, please throw them in the ring.

I'm willing to keep going with the Noom on my own and be here with you guys as a pseudo coach or whatever if you want. I thought about offering to put together a plan for you myself. And I don't mind the work of it, I just worry that you guys would be getting a completely untrained amateur know nothing coach and I don't know what value that has. (I don't mean monetary value. I'm talking about efficacy.)

I'm so happy everyone is staying here. I'm starting to feel good and my hunger is leveling off. I'm not sure if I am learning and picking better food or what because I'm actually not starving. There is definitely hunger there at times, but not like usual.

I'm glad everyone is sticking here too. I'm gaining some momentum with MFP and don't want to lose it. I've only been fully back at it for 2 weeks but I've lost 7.5 lbs (I'd had a few terrible weeks of eating/drinking everything so I think 1/2 of that was water weight!) I'm planning to meal prep again on Sunday. I'm going to make the baked oatmeal for breakfasts again. I have two lunches in the freezer that I'd prepped last week. And my other 3 days will be this: damndelicious.net/2017/02/06/deli-snack-box/Dinners seem to be my biggest challenge. I need to find more stuff I can make ahead. I also need my (almost) 6 year old to start eating something other than pasta!

I've also lost 7 lbs. For those of you who like math and quantitative results, that's 20% of my weight loss goal.
I forgot how to gif so imagine there's a celebratory gif here.

Congrats, Ali7P!!! Great work. It sounds like you're not the only one who struggles with healthy easy dinners. I'm glad to share some of mine, and I know angelashly does well with dinner prep too, so she probably has ideas as well.

I don't meal prep much for dinner besides cutting the vegetables because we mainly do quick easy ones or they change. I am going to be getting the frozen or already riced cauliflower now for me. I do have salad already prepared daily so that if I need something easy for a side it is already ready.
I've been doing mostly lunches and snacks. I boil 2 dozen eggs on Sunday (all 3 of them eat them) plus cook 1-2 lunches.
I am meal planning now for this week.

Sundae, I know you may be completely out of Noom, but if not, I mentioned to my coach that your coach hadn't gotten in touch with you and she suggested you message him. I didn't tell her that you don't want him anyway but if you are thinking about staying in the program, I would suggest contacting Noom and asking for a new coach. There are instructions on how to do it in the help section. If you're already out the door, ignore this. I don't care about Noom, I just want to find the best solution for you.

Can I ask what you guys with "good" coaches are getting from them? Do they message you? Chat? Comment on your log and encourage?

Can I ask what you guys with "good" coaches are getting from them? Do they message you? Chat? Comment on your log and encourage? My coach starts a thread a couple times a day asking about what we're planning to eat, what we are recognizing as far as triggers, how we can plan ahead for the weekend, encouragement, etc. Nothing too involved or 1:1 but there's a presence. Can I ask what you guys with "good" coaches are getting from them? Do they message you? Chat? Comment on your log and encourage? My coach is Jackie. She messages me and responds to my messages. She has asked me what my aim is- we've talked about how I'm doing well on the program but that's typical for me. I'm a most excellent yoyo dieter. She works with me to set concrete goals based on where I am- so today we were chatting and she commented that I don't eat many red foods, so maybe my goal for the week could be to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into my meals. (We haven't firmly set my goal, we're still chatting.) I know another woman in our group worked with her coach on the SMART goal worksheet. Or if you wanted to do that behavior chain thing, your coach should be able to help you with that- talking about where you personally experience the breakdown in the chain and how to fix it.

I have to brag a little:
I got up and 5 am every day this week and moved my body! I went to two yoga classes this week. I was in over my head for both of them, but I sucked it up and the teachers welcomed me back without any judgement like I was fearing. I have a date with my friend to hike tomorrow morning. I haven't felt this good in a long time.

I'm going to be doing a cleanse Sunday - Thursday as part of operation fit in my RTR dress. I'll probably make a meatloaf for H and DS and let them fend for themselves.
