I'll share a hippy yoga thought for anyone who wants it. We did a lot of inversions in class yesterday and the instructor reminded us of the benefits of putting your head below your heart (physically) to encourage clear thinking. That's always a good reminder to me to figuratively put my head below my heart in my daily life as I tend to be such a pig headed, logical person that overlooks her heart and gut feelings. I need to love myself and not let my pesky brain speak poorly of myself.

I haven't had a chance to wade through all the Noom conversations in the group.
It's kind of a shitty format to have to click into conversation bubbles and read comments and then back out. I get all these push notifications on my phone what I was replied to or whatever but then I can't find it. I get the sense that there's good information I haven't read yet but I've been really busy and trying to find it all on my phone it tough.
Like I have time at work, but I can't be staring at my phone for hours when my boss walks by.

I asked Jackie about food logging elsewhere and not on Noom and she discouraged it.
I'm a little shruggy guy about it, because I do think accurate tracking matters and entering in a generic "caprese sandwich" means one million different combinations of ingredients and I don't trust Noom to be a good tracker of actual calories for me. And I truly don't want to take five minutes every meal to build out every recipe with their shitty (IMO) food database.

I'm struggling with eating during the day. I hate eating with my kid around bc she wants my food even if she's eating the same freakin thing. The fussing drives me absolutely insane. It's not helping that my mind is elsewhere and I'm forgetting to eat. I have the reminders on my phone to log my meal but I'm emotionally and mentally spent. I don't even want to bother with making something to eat. Then I make dinner after the kids goes to sleep and eat that. It's a bad cycle I need to break. I've been like this since Saturday. Anyways, I bought adult coloring books to color at night to keep my mind busy and not thinking about snacking. They should be here today. I'll let you know how it goes. This healthy lifestyle change I'm doing is fucking hard.

I'm with brux on not loving the conversational format. It was one of the group's big complaints about WLC. SM is huge, there are a bazillion ways to communicate electronically with people. Why do the diet running people always pick the shittiest ones? I've seen several comments that Shelby mentioned me but I can't find where. I'm accustomed to notifications from here and had about wading through other people's stuff to find where my name is potentially buried. Tl;dr why can't they make it function like a message board so I can use it?

I don't usually go here but I stumbled on the thread and thought, why not? So I'm trying it and started yesterday. I agree with brux that the database is a PITA but I can make it work. I'm going to add stuff when I'm on my morning or evening walk so it doesn't take too much of my time. So far I like the accountability. 1200 calories is not going to cut it at all so I set my weight loss speed to super slow and it's 1550 now. Re WW: it wasn't going to work for me. I can overeat anything and fruits and vegetables are easily 50% of my diet so the fact that they weren't assigning points to those was not going to help. Okay. Back to mostly lurking, lovetitting, and probably periodically giving hair pats and recipes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'll share a hippy yoga thought for anyone who wants it. I need to love myself and not let my pesky brain speak poorly of myself. This isn't a hippy thought. There is actual empirical scientific evidence that shows that people who show themselves "self-compassion" are more successful at diet/ weight loss/ lifestyle changes. It's a resilience thing. If you mess up and tell yourself, I'm no good, I can't do this, I always fuck up/ never stick with anything and then give up, then of course you're not making a change. A better course of action is to approach it the way you would a less personal issue or the way you would approach it if it were someone else. If you messed up at work, you'd likely stop, identify where you went wrong, and figure out how you fix it or do it better the next time. You don't say, well, I messed up a little on this project, I might as well say fuck it and just not do the remainder of it (or might as well fuck up the rest since I fucked up the first part.) I mean, I assume that is not how the gainfully employed conduct their work business.

Hi, cagoldi. Welcome. Join in. You don't have to lurk, you go here now. Sundae, meeting your calories goal and logging your food everyday are great steps for a little over one week in. We're changing our lives. That takes time. dogbutt, do you want to talk about why you're feeling so stressed? Would exercise or some time away from your kid help? Are those options? And a big shout out to angelashly, you're doing great. You're here and engaged and logging every day and those are important. I like knowing you're around, it makes me feel less weird about spamming the thread.

thisbitch it's SO job search that is a major stressor right now. I'm definitely burnt out with the kid she is constantly in my space and gogogo. I was working out during her nap time and it was the best. She decided she's done with naps so it threw a wrench in my routine. She is going to grandmas for the night this weekend and I hope the mental break from parenting rejuvenates me. The more I reflect on everything I realized I'm truly not happy staying at home. I have a job waiting for me when we move to CA and it makes me so excited to think about. Then I stress because I'm basically waiting on SO to find a job. We plan to be moved by end of September but everything is all up in the air. I just want go back to work and help get us back on track financially. I feel terrible that I'm failing my kid as a parent. I'm so burnt out and energy is not there to be as fun as I use to. It just exhausting all of it. I haven't had a break from my kid since February. Woof ETA: SO went to his cousins wedding this weekend and one cousin just had twins and he found out his brother and sil are expecting their second kid. It got me thinking man we haven't shared any exciting happy news since our kid was born 2 years ago. So I'm finding myself shutting down to friends and family because I'm tired of saying there's nothing exciting or positive happening in our life. When people as how I am anything new going on my only response nope same old same old. We are just chugging along. I just want to have some exciting good news for once.

I'm feeling proud of myself for my lunches this week. (let's not talk about dinners and desserts, tho.)
I got a bunch of lettuce from the farmer's market on Sunday and then got 2/3 pound of grilled salmon from Whole foods. That salmon is expensive at $29/pound but I didn't plan ahead and didn't meal prep, so fuck it. I woke up early on Monday morning and shredded all the lettuce for lunches. I googled the best way to store lettuce (washed, torn into pieces, put into a plastic container that is lined with paper towels). The lettuce is still crisp and yummy.
I've enjoyed my lunch of salmon, lettuce, strawberries, and oil-free tangerine vinaigrette all week so far. It feels and tastes like a treat and I have no energy crash mid-afternoon.

Hugs, dogbutt. That's a lot on you. How old is your LO? Do you have friends nearby that you could meet up with? I SAH and I go nuts if I don't get some adult interaction on a regular basis.

Sorry I just unleashed allllll of my thoughts! I'm the only one with a kid. We try to get out and do the splash pad or park but it's been so hot during the day it doesn't happen. We only have one car so it hinders me to get placeS. Summer is tough during the fall through spring we are able to get out to more activities. I know it will get better but it's been tough the last couple weeks. My kid is 2 and she's a pistol.

I came to the Noom app and see there are 63 comments I missed.
But I have no clue where those comments are, all mixed in somewhere.

Did you see the one where HE complained about not having a desktop version so she could Noom from work? And the one where I complain about how hard their conversation format is to follow? 😂😂😂😂😂

Last night I switched out the fish for chicken because I forgot I had chicken out. I did pesto chicken easy by using the knorr packet pesto.
My kid who eats cheese quesadillas, hotdogs, or chicken nuggets ate a breast and a half and asked me to make it again! So good and not bad calorie wise

Also thisbitch thank you for the frozen cauliflower rice suggestion. I made one last night that was lightly seasoned with Parmesan sauce and it was delicious and easy

I'm feeling a little frustrated this morning. I weighed myself and there has been exactly zero change since last week....and I know, that number isn't everything....but I feel like I have been SO GOOD about avoiding sugar, sticking to whole, unprocessed foods, working out every morning before work. I need to go back and read the post from thisbitch again and snap myself out of this funk. It was raining this morning when I got up for my run, so I just did some yoga and body weight exercises. I hope to get a walk in during my lunch break so I can get some outdoor movement as well. My food plan today: Breakfast: Green smoothie (spinach, blackberries, unsweetened almond milk, white beans, zucchini) + some collagen on the side for added protein Lunch: Zoodles with ground turkey and a roasted tomato sauce Snack: romaine, kraut, and cauliflower rice tossed in avocado vinaigrette Dinner: scrambled eggs, quinoa, steamed broccoli

trippyalien, it's very frustrating to see the scale stick when you know you are working hard. I definitely sympathize with that. I hope you feel progress in other areas to offset it.

trippyalien, I'm sorry you're not seeing progress on the scale. But how do you feel? Are feeling strong, healthier, like your clothes fit well? You're working out every morning, have you noticed increase in your endurance? Those are the things to focus on.

You're working out every morning, have you noticed increase in your endurance? Those are the things to focus on. Thanks for this reminder—I am feeling good overall. My energy has been better and I am actually looking forward to workouts now as opposed to a few weeks ago when I had to drag myself out to work out. As for clothes...it is hard to tell. I basically live in loose sundresses in the summer because it is 100+ degrees here on a daily basis so there isn't much to compare it to. I know it is a slow process and I just need to keep plugging away...but seeing some concrete results would be nice. Maybe I will take some measurements this weekend. I just need to keep repeating to myself "this is not a race, it is a lifestyle change."

I'm bouncing between here and the WW thread because I'm doing MFP. I'm half way through my 2nd week of being "back on track" with my nutrition and I'm feeling good. I'm eating between 1800-2000 calories per day, so I definitely don't feel like I'm starving myself. I also haven't had much time to sit and watch TV, so I haven't been mindlessly snacking. One of my favorite bad things to do is watch terrible reality TV, drink a glass or two of wine and eat chips (or something equally bad) from a bag. GDI, I just love it. Whenever I put on weight, it's because of that.
Since the ads for my local grocery stores come out on Thursdays, I usually spend my lunch break checking them out online and planning my meals for the next week/writing out my shopping list. For the past 2 weeks my lunches have been a combination of rice, veggies & chicken. I think it's time for a change next week.

I think we need to decide by Sunday.
I don't know. I haven't loved anything I've seen so far, but I'm afraid if I quit I'll lose the momentum I have so far. And I got the $99 for 4 months price, and I waste that much money every month on nothing.
I don't know what I'm holding onto, though. Their content is pretty simplistic compared to the kind of reading I do on similar topics.

I went to bed dreaming of the letter I wanted to write to Noom's developers.
I love their concept but the delivery is such shit.
It's not at all useful to have this running chat room that allows you to reply to various topics. I can't easily find and read replies to older topics, even from a day ago, because I don't know what I've already read and haven't. And that annoyance just keeps compounding with every new topic. Start one, have two replies, read those, have to ignore the rest because who knows what's new, and move on.
The loss of information and genuine back and forth discussions is bad and getting worse.
