It's nice to read that a few of you aren't planning to even attempt BFing this time. I feel like there's been a big culture shift back to BFing, and I feel judged every time I say I'm not even going to try. I've just seen how difficult and emotional it can be for a lot of people, and if I can take one thing off my plate during an already stressful time, I'm going to! I hated bfing. It's just not for me. I was shamed pretty hard by a nurse after giving birth to ds3 and I got some looks from strangers when he was real little. I don't give a shit though. My sanity was intact lol. Bfing my older 2 was hell. That's bullshit on that nurses part. We were sent home with a huge bag of liquid formula bottles since we had to supplement in the hospital due to blood sugar issues.

Also, a positive aside to bottle feeding is your husband can help. My H loved being able to feed DD, he felt like it really helped them bond and he was happy I didn't EBF for that reason. Is #2 is good nurser I'm still going to make sure we have bottles of BM (and likely formula too, because so much easier) so he can be active in such an integral part of the newborn/first year stage.

@misskillkoy isn't it funny how preparing to go on vacation can be so stressful? DH and I get into some of our biggest fights while packing/getting ready to go away. That photo is awesome- enjoy yourself!

I never really got to BF. We were BD exclusively for his first 3 days, only to find out that he had an undiagnosed tongue tie that prevented him from staying latched for more than 5 seconds at a time. Thank goodness for our pedi who told me to supplement with formula (as DS was jaundiced and had lost more weight).
My milk didn't come in - most likely because I got the stomach flu on Day 4-5. Even after his tongue tie was fixed, DS would fall asleep on the boob and not eat enough. After trying to BF, then give bottle, then pumping, and feeling miserable, I went to EP. But I never got a full supply. Finally around month 7, I told a friend that I was getting around 1-2 oz per pump (essentially one bottle per day of pumping, given what DS ate), and she told me I needed to forgive myself and stop. She was right - I had been feeling so guilty that I didn't BF/ Couldn't be the sole milk source. I always felt like I got stares when I mixed a bottle in public. And every "breast is best" article made me feel so bad.
Bottles worked for us, and I think it helped DH bond with DS. He was also great with a bottle at day care (because we let the grands, etc. feed him, so he didn't just want me). Not sure what will happen this time - I can't imagine that I will make enough milk for 3 babies, so we'll be prepared to supplement as needed.
Long story short: every mom and child are different and need to do what is best for them. And don't let the haters get to you. A fed baby is a happy baby.

It was just that one nurse. She gave attitude when I got the epidural too so it wasn't much of a shock lol

Just watched the 26 weeks pregnant video with Gina.
"I've put on 20 pounds and starting to see numbers on the scale I haven't seen before"
Screw you Gina
Also her legs are crossed the whole time, I'm sorry but I can't even put my legs together when I'm sat down as it put to much pressure on my pelvis/hips
Where is she hiding those 20 pounds

I'm sorry so many people here had trouble with breastfeeding and basically had the choice taken away from them. It is NOT easy for many people. I had no idea WTF I was doing, but I was lucky that we had no physical issues like tongue or lip ties or nipple issues, etc.
I enjoyed breastfeeding and it made things easier in some ways, but I haaaaated pumping at work (and in general). I'm going to do my best to make it work this time around like I did with DD. I made it to a year with DD, but it was basically limping along because my supply had dwindled and we had started supplementing at 10 months.
I thought I would feel sad that BFing was over but I... Did not. I was surprised I felt such relief. I felt like I finally had my body back and felt free. I know that is easy to say for someone who mostly had success with BFing, so I hope that doesn't come across as taking it for granted. But the hormones associated with BFing were rough on me. I was a got sweaty mess the whole time. Like, worse than in pregnancy. It was nice not having a period until about 4 months after we stopped breastfeeding, though...
The good news is, method of feeding is not important in the long run. I know therr are studies on both sides, but always always always fed it best. Both H and I were formula fed from day 1 and both have extremely healthy immune systems. We rarely get sick. DD was BFed and she rarely gets sick, she never really did even in her first couple years. Anecdotal evidence, of course.

I've just seen how difficult and emotional it can be for a lot of people, and if I can take one thing off my plate during an already stressful time, I'm going to! At my last school, we had a pumping room (also used for private exams) in the nurses office, so our nurse was very into all the pumping mom's business. I only went in once a day and she scolded me about it at one point. Told me I needed the stimulation to keep my supply up and that I should take more advantage of the fact that our school is so accommodating. It felt super rude to me. I was already having supply issues, supplementing, and feeling so guilty about failing at breast feeding. Did not need the lecture. That is awful! Pumping at work sucks all around. And I actually had a lot of support for it. Still sucked. Having to use both my breaks to pump was really annoying, and I really had to be prepared (like remembering to bring my lunch because there was no time to get anything). And I had/have 2 breaks per day- not everyone even gets that.

There is so much societal pressure put on mother's. Whether it be breastfeeding, baby wearing, what diapers you use, what/when to give solids, etc. There is absolutely NO wrong way. Do what's right for you and your child.* *barring safety of course This this this.

This is very important, too. I 100% agree. Pumping gives a lot more freedom, you don't have to be tied to baby 24/7!

We were going to do a family photo shoot this fall but I want to wait til baby is here to be included in the pics.
So maybe we will do spring pictures instead?
I'm not sure I will do a newborn photo shoot and a family photo shoot just a couple months later. That seems like overkill.
A professional photographer works at the hospital I give birth at and they do some quick cute photos. So I think I'll just stick with that.

No newborn photo shoot for either DD (oops) but we do have family pictures for Christmas so last year I got a couple of DD by herself (she was about 7 weeks old). DD2 will be like a week or two old so meh I figure why pay extra?

I really don't trust him to do our newborn photos, which is really unfortunate.

I'm really excited about the photographer we booked for the newborn photos. She's a little bit more expensive than the one I have booked for my maternity photos, but she's awesome. Plus, her studio is about 2 miles from my house, so it's really convenient.

We just have to make sure we don't blow through it all since seeing such a huge amount of money drop in our account is tempting, lol. We've definitely over spent so we need to reign it in until my next actual paycheck shows up, which won't be until September 15th. Oof, that looks so far away on a calendar when thinking about getting paid again. Yeesh.

Fucking crap on a cracker, I finally decided to look at newborn photographers around here and nothing is cheaper than like $500 at minimum! I paid like $275 last time and that was maternity, newborn, and photo rights. Dayyyummmmm, this kid might not get pro photos at these prices.
