I feel like Trump commits 6 impeachable offenses before breakfast. But the Republicans have proven they are no longer the party that essentially forced Nixon to resign for the good of the country - they don't give a shit and will keep letting him get away with whatever the fuck he wants.
Sorry I'm feeling super down and cranky and hormonal about the vote today so I'm like extra contrary.

Trying to find out why. ETA: Some speculation that this was poorly worded and he meant the subpoena was issued? I'm confused. No, they actually did "drop" it meaning they rescinded it. They subpoenaed him, and then he agreed to talk with them under different circumstances, so they dropped/rescinded the subpoena. So he will now meet with SJC behind closed doors.

I cannot stand the way he talks about most things, but the way he talks about Chicago really gets my blood boiling.

He also says he's the most presidential president apart from Lincoln.
Another night, another unhinged speech by our lunatic president.

Is he seriously putting himself over George Washington? Jefferson? Either Roosevelt? Delusional, party of 1.

That little eye roll head tilt/nod thing he did when he was asked if Sessions should resign still stands out to me. THAT'S NOT WHAT GROWN UPS DO. Grown ups, let alone presidents.

The 1st amendment exists to protect citizens from the government, not the leader of the government from inciting violence against his detractors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk .

What is he even doing in OH tonight? Is he campaigning? I really think he didn't want to actually win, he just wanted to compete (campaign).

By several accounts, he did not, actually, want or expect to win. He wanted to elevate his profile and profit off of his candidacy. My irresponsible speculation is that he was freaked when he found out he could/would win and his handlers calmed him down by telling him he could run around having rallies and talking about how great he is for four years.

Some good news for the thread. NH state senate seat stays Dem. snip But this was also a seat held by a Democrat. Well yes, thats why i said stays Dem.☺ But I thought we could use some good news. And I'm seeing that his margin is much larger than HC's was in November, so thats good momentum too.

This is a really dumb problem to have but, my status as a parent is interfering with my activism. There is literally an event for a cause about which I am passionate or an organization to which i belong every night this week--some nights, there are multiple events that overlap. And I have an utterly nonexistent social life but I also had book club this week. If I went to even SOME of the things I should go to, I would be away from home every night this week. My H is super supportive, but I'm just not going to ask him to hold down the fort every single night while I smash the patriarchy. I need this lot to just let ONE SINGLE THING be not broken so I can have a night at home with my family without feeling like I should be somewhere else doing a thing.

dc2london try not to feel guilty- you are an awesome mom raising a future feminist man and woman- nights you spend with your family are still nights you are fighting the patriarchy.

We won't see Manafort testify today, but the IG will, as well as Bill Browder. Bill Browder was the CEO of Hermitage Capital. After doing business in Russia for years, he tried to slow the flow of money to corrupt oligarchs and was blacklisted by Putin, expelled from Russia, and his lawyer was arrested and killed. Because of this, he lobbied for what is now called the Magnitsky Act.

Very helpful read to understand thehistory of the Magnitsky act and how Russian officials/oligarchs are working to remove the act. www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/07/bill-browders-testimony-to-the-senate-judiciary-committee/534864/
