And also kid friendly ones filled with extra sugar. I also need a new yule log recipe as mine has yet to roll properly.

This is my list for this year!
butter tart bars lemon squares nanaimo bars broken arm bars (Swedish strips) shortbread cranberry orange white chocolate cookies butterscotch marshmallow squares date squares (maybe) marshmallow squares cherry squares
I'm seriously in love with the cranberry orange white chocolate cookies. They're soooooo good. The swedish strips might be a good choice for making with kids, and they always go over well! It's basically a brown sugar shortcrust baked in a sheetpan, covered with jam and either white chocolate chips or nuts, and then cut into bars. They were my uncles favorite as a kid and he always threatened to break the arm of anyone who took the last one hence the name broken arm bars lol

We'll be doing these kid friendly cookies. We did it last week with sprinkles which was delicious, but L and J want to make them next week with m&m's for our neighbors. I may add some vanilla extract too this time. cookiesandcups.com/cake-mix-cookies/I've done chocolate dipped pretzels with L which was fun, and my SIL brings those to every cookie swap she ever attends.

I have to make some treats for work next week. I’m going to try to do salted pecan brittle (depends on my pecan availability.) But I’m not sure for the second one. I always try to do gf and df bc, well, me. But I usually try to do a nut free one since the brittle has nuts. But gf, df, and nut free also makes it pretty hard. I also thought about pumpkin spice cookies using spice cake mix and canned pumpkin. Super easy, but would take a lot of batches Bc I need 60-90 of them.

I want to find the recipe I used for chocolate marshmallow cookies. I made them a couple of years ago and they were so good.

Peppermint shortbread and cranberry bliss bars (Starbucks copycat) are my go to every year. I’ll have to see how much motivation I have to get any others done.

We’re doing a cookie exchange with our friends and I’m definitely going to make Pizzelles. Also, punch with a festive cranberry rosemary ice ring, but I guess that’s not really baking.

Milk chocolate almond sandwich cookies (I ended up using Nutella instead of milk chocolate for the filling) Linzer cookies Chocolate toffee squares Gingerbread Oatmeal marshmallow sandwich cookies Peppermint shortbread Double chocolate fudge Nanaimo Bars Rum Balls Chocolate coconut Neapolitan cookies (I had coconut mice on my list but took them off in favour of the Neapolitans) I can post recipes but all of mine come from cookbooks/magazines. I did make these a couple of weeks ago: sallysbakingaddiction.com/maple-brown-sugar-cookies/and they were AMAZING. My husband makes a Buche de Noel every year using the recipe his family in France have used for many, many years. It always turns out well and rolls up easily. The filling is like a chocolate ganache rather than an icing or whipping cream-based filling.

J is building me a Christmas tree cookie stand so I guess I should come up with pretty cookies and treats to make and display.
So far I'm just planning on making my Grandma's caramels and probably sugar cutouts as well.

I just realized that I'm not 100% sure who I'm baking to give to this year lol. I should probably figure that out!

I'm not exactly sure anymore why I picked up fruit flavored mini candy canes instead of peppermint last week. Now that I have 60 left after the edible crafts, I'm going to crush them as a mix-in for cake mix cookies. I am one who normally doesn't mind fruit flavors in dessert, but this may be crossing the line.

I literally just came to comment that I think I decided on fudge! But I was looking at a salted caramel fudge, and felt like salted caramel fudge and salted pecan brittle was too salty. Dark chocolate fudge with crushed candy cane topping is SUCH a great idea!! I love you.

Oh, um, rugger, do you have a good DF dark chocolate fudge recipe? Or anyone else? I made a decent one last year just converting my mom’s recipe but would love to try anyone’s tried and true recipe.

tj do you have some suggestions for gluten free cookies?
We have a gluten free girl in our troop and we are doing a cookie exchange. I will text her mom to confirm I can use the same pans with parchment paper. Or bonus points if it is a no bake item.

If you use gluten free oats. Which are just oats grown and processed in a dedicated facility, they aren’t a different species. So you can use the leftovers same as any other oats.

I've even made them dairy free and they work just fine No Bake Chocolate Quickies Ingredients: 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup cocoa 1/2 cup milk 3 and 1/2 cups quick cooking rolled oats 1 teaspoon vanilla Directions: Mix sugar, butter, cocoa and milk in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and boil 3 to 4 minutes or until a little dropped into cold water forms a soft ball. Remove from heat. Stir in rolled oats and vanilla. Drop by teaspooonsful onto waxed paper or Silpat. Let stand until hardened. Store in container with waxed paper between each layer.

I made sugar cookie dough yesterday and froze it to bake next week. I’m hoping to make Nanaimo bars and date squares tomorrow. My dad gave me some homemade butter from his recent harvest so I’m making some *special* brownies next week for my besties.

They are not candies. They are no bake cookies. And they are so famous and well known in this part of the country that I never guessed I would need to provide a recipe! I just assumed everyone made these all the time. If you google chocolate oatmeal no bake cookies, there are a billion hits and they will narrow down to 2 types. Peanut butter or no peanut butter. It’s a personal preference, though some say the pb ones set up more reliably. My mom always made them with pb so that is my preference.

Because you're cooking sugar to a ball stage it makes it a candy (you use the same ball stage for things like fudge). They're definitely cookies though, and most people wouldn't even think about the technically part lol
