I finished The Obsession and loved it even though I guessed the suspect pretty early on and I never guess but I still really liked it

I finished The Fine Print a few days ago and didn't really care for it. It was highly recommended on booktok so I feel betrayed, lol. Thankfully it was KU. I'm in a slump again now and don't know what to read next. I still have Everything We Didn't Say and The Neighbor's Secret from BOTM that I haven't read yet. I started The Once and Future Witches but it hasn't grabbed me yet. I still need to read The Hawthorne Legacy but I was hoping to reread The Inheritance Games first. I don't know if I should try for an easy rom com to get me out of the slump or something creepy/witchy for Halloween season. I started The Neighbor's Secret and then put it down when I got The Inheritance Games from the library, since I didn't want to lose my hold. So, both are "in progress" for me. I ended up really enjoying The Once and Future Witches but it is definitely a time investment. Yeah I think I will like The Once and Future Witches I'm just wanting something quick right now. Luckily my library must own the ebook copy because I've been able to renew multiple times, lol.

I have to pick a book for my local, casual book club. It's coed, people in the 30-40yo range. Any suggestions? Based on the previous choices in the club, I want to spice it up and pick a thriller or sci-fi option. Anyone have suggestions?

I'm listening to 100 years of solitude, and it's reminding me of all the books my brother tried to get me to read in high school. It's for my PopSugar challenge "been on your TBR list the longest." Neon Gods just came up and I'm going to try to listen while doing chores this weekend. I LOVE 100 years of solitude. That was one of my high school reads, in addition to House of the Spirits which is one of my favorite books of all time.

I just read an Isabel Allende book that reminded me I've had "The House of the Spirits" on my TBR list for a long time. (In English as I read it in Spanish back in college but definitely missed some of the plot). 100 years of solitude would also be in that TBR list for me. Lol I hadn’t read this when I posted

It was one of my favourite books this year and really unusual, in a mind-bending way.

But that was also a WHILE ago, and I haven’t remotely kept up with my Spanish. I officially have them on my TBR list and I’m excited!

I helped out at DD1's school book fair for a couple of hours this morning and seeing all the kiddos excited about new books warmed my heart.

I started The House We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell last night and realized I read it years ago so I started Good As Dead by Susan Walter and it's pretty good so far. I feel like I can see where it is going but I still had a hard time putting it down last night.

I just bought tickets to see Megan Rosenbloom (author of Dark Archives) speak at the Mutter Museum and I am so so excited. They are going to have rare books on display as well. I can't wait.

I just met two sisters in my neighborhood about babysitting my kid (they are 14 & 16) and somehow we ended up talking about YA fantasy books for half an hour. Now I have new sitters that want to watch my kid and maybe also be my friends. 😄

I’m jealous! I just looked this up and am grumpy that I’m obligated to attend a two year old’s birthday. I’m currently trying to convince mh that we could show up for an hour and then leave the kids with the grandparents since it’s a family party.

I’m not a big poetry person but I enjoyed The Lost Words and The Lost Spells by Robert MacFarlane with illustrations by Jackie Morris. Both are nature poetry and the artwork is absolutely gorgeous. I liked The Lost Spells a smidge more due to the smaller book size and variety of poems. The Lost Words was awkward to read since it’s oversized and all the poems were acrostic which I found visually displeasing.

Haven't figured out what we're doing with DS yet.

I finally finished Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty.
I wouldn't recommend it exactly but I also mostly enjoyed it. Lauren Weisberger novels aren't known for being relatable and this one definitely wasn't either but that is part of her charm I guess.
Moving on now to It Happened One Summer.

I finally made it to the end of World Without End. It was great. 4.5 stars, but his books are like 4 books in one.
Now I’m flying through both The Kissing Bug and On the Way to the Wedding. I have the new one by Louise Penny and Hillary Clinton (State of Terror) in my Libby. Hoping to start it tomorrow!!

I finished Good As Dead last night and enjoyed it. Somewhat predictable but I think it did a good job of describing grief. Now I’m reading House of Hollow.

We've been on vacation and my mom has been visiting from the U.S. so I haven't had time to read much but I did finish a few horror books recently that were all OK. The Grip Of It - Jac Jemc The Invited - Jennifer McMahon This was a really nice horror/thriller, good writing, just not scary for me. Come Closer - Sara Gran
Still looking for a horror book that actually scares me this October.

I just finished Aria by Nazanine Hozar. I feel at a loss for words. It took me a little while to get into the story because the writing is plain and direct, but it eventually drew me completely in and I grew to love many of the characters and also the city of Tehran. I feel like I have taken a history lesson in not only the Iranian Revolution but the history of religions and languages in that country; I was constantly Googling things. I learned so much. In the end it's such a heavy, heartbreaking story, wonderfully and simply told. I feel like I need to go have a good cry.

I was reading Sarah’s Key but it’s so frickin sad. Im not in the right headspace. I’m going to take a break and read something lighter.
The man that saved my grandpa’s life after his plane crashed died today.
My grandpa wrote a book about his life and I’ve never read it, because I’ve heard so many of the stories before…but I think I will now.
