I follow a small time blogger since March 2020. It’s a “friend of a friend of a friend” type scenario. I started following her when a friend shared a friends post of a friends post of this persons blog where she described how it felt to rush her father to an overcrowded over taxed hospital in NYC in the height of the pandemic. Covid killed him. I followed her posts and rooted along side her and then cried when she announced his passing. She used to post daily and now it’s just every so often.
It’s sad and horrible. It’s been awful as a reader, to watch her navigate her grief and feelings. My husband asks me while I’m still following if it makes me sad and I can’t really explain other than I feel like Ive been reading through her journey thus far and can’t stop now
Anyway tldr this is all just so sad 😞

It'll be interesting to see if teachers are included in this. I would like DH to get a booster as he was vaccinated in February and is working in a high school with pretty low vaccine uptake.

richard , looks like teachers are included: he US Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday it would grant emergency use authorization for a booster dose of Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine in people 65 and older, people at high risk of severe disease and people whose jobs put them at risk of infection. "After considering the totality of the available scientific evidence and the deliberations of our advisory committee of independent, external experts, the FDA amended the EUA for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to allow for a booster dose in certain populations such as health care workers, teachers and day care staff, grocery workers and those in homeless shelters or prisons, among others," acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock said in a statement. www.cnn.com/2021/09/22/health/fda-authorizes-covid-booster-bn/index.htmlETA - I'm assuming the CDC will follow shortly with its approval and Moderna's process is just down the pike. I hope so for myself - I got Moderna last March and was assured by my internist yesterday that I'd fall into this group should all move along as he expects right now. He'd prefer I not mix vaccines at this point.

I do 2 separate lunch duties, supervising 70ish kids, so I would very much like a booster. And 1 group is 1st graders so there is a lot of opening things and getting close-ish while their masks are off. I wear a Happy Mask everyday, so I'm too worried, but you can never be too careful.

It has been a crazy couple of days here, but I didn't want to not update. I did call my grandma and ask her what her thoughts were and offered to suggest that it not happen. She appreciated it, but told me not to worry about it. The cake had been ordered, and she didn't want hurt feelings.
My aunt texted my dad and me this morning and said if we had Covid concerns, she would text us after they left. But that didn't happen until 6:45 tonight. My 3 year old was a beast tonight and that was just too late to head over. Plus my grandma said she knew that was too much for us in the middle of the week. My aunt also said she would have done it outside but it poured on and off all day.
So 🤞 nobody had Covid tonight. I feel bad we didn't see her today, and we'll doing something special with her soon.

So during my treadmill viewing I randomly clicked on a Prime show written by Gillian Flynn. It was super violent but by the point it got super violent I was sucked in and had to find out the conspiracy. Yall. Spoiler alert I guess if you want to watch it, but I wouldn't recommend it
This show was about a zoonotic virus that jumped from bats to people and a pharmaceutical company that weaponized it on children, killing them, so they could use the vaccine to inject millions of people with a biological weapon.
It was written in 2018. So you can, in fact, make this shit up. |

richard he can go get one today. I would if I were him. Yep, we were just talking about it. He's fully in charge of the kids all day on Saturday so we're thinking next Friday so he has the weekend in case of any side effects. |

The kids have flu shots booked for Saturday afternoon. Fx the big one will be able to get a COVID vaccine in the next month too. I’m not letting myself hope too hard on that, though to avoid disappointment.

Feeling really depressed and heavy-hearted tonight. TW: Child Death {Spoiler}We just found out one of the middle schoolers in our district passed away after "a brief illness". They didn't say COVID, but given the timing and the way our district dashboard looks, I strongly suspect it  They have a younger sibling too. I just feel like there is a rock in my chest. |

I'm so sorry ❤️ Thanks, I’m not a staff member (sorry if it sounded that way). It still hits hard though. We are a pretty tight knit community and I can only imagine what family/friends/classmates are going through. I’m head of our elementary PTA so I’m definitely going to find out if there is any way we can support the family. The school is going to have counseling available for those that need it. |

We have similar rules based on Utah’s recommendations. Kids can wear masks if they are contacts and skip the quarantine as long as they are masked (and staying home for symptoms). It’s scream-able. I know earlier someone had mentioned something about flying/traveling. I feel better about flying because of the mask rules than sending my kids to school with these “rules”. It’s a very strange world to try to navigate real life and then to read here comparisons of how other more responsible states are managing it. |

Are there any rumors on when Moderna might submit their documentation for EUA for the younger kids? They are a few weeks behind Pfizer in their trials so I'd guess, if the trials went well, maybe by end of calendar year |
