Oh good! I just remember seeing a bunch of headlines about how people thought it was awful and wondered if I was way off base in liking it (I finally just watched it tonight). My little brother is mostly a Trekkie so he was mostly being a tool. He said “Mainly Han being a bitch for most of the movie. I think he was when he shouldn't have cause of how he grew up.” But then he couldn’t give me specific examples. Little brothers be little brothering. Han was young and everyone has to start somewhere but I thought all his decisions were age appropriate and good for character development. I... I thought the movie fit Han's personality to a tee. Shoot first and ask questions later. Wild romance and the circle of deals and debts. I also liked his acting. Many didn't. But those fuckers wouldn't have been happy unless Harrison fucking Ford was playing the role but unfortunately for them he practically hates SW and won't do another movie. Boohoo things change. Life goes one. Meanwhile Marvel's writing things like Hulk vs. Klingons and fans are are fucking eating it up because they love the universe whatever it entails. SW fans need to take notes on how to fan right. I will say, it was strange to have someone other than Ford in the role. But I prefer new casting vs them overdoing the CGI to make him look younger anyways. And Donald Glover was an AWESOME Lando. Really, top notch.

I really like it. It's mh's favourite SW. It was a fun, light hearted, space cowboy movie. They tied in a bunch of things that me a super fan really happy. I loved the reveal at the end. Fucking LOVED it. What was their issue? I'll be honest I can't stand most sw fans. The fandom is horrible. Full of biggotted, racist, angry, illogical morons who can't take a joke. I love canon whether it is new or old. I love the universe. I just do. I am not the norm though. A lot of people I talked to didn't like it because it didn't have the feel of the typical Star Wars Formula. But H and I thought it was excellent. Neither did Rogue one but it was still a great movie. All of the novels they hold so dear have different authors and all have dramatically different writing styles and plot formulas. Why should a spin off movie that isn't part of the main trilogies be any different?

Hiii! Still a HP and Doctor Who fan here. I loved Jodie Whittaker's take on the Doctor. I found it took until series 10 to get used to Capaldi, but I loved Whittaker right away. So you are loving it then? I am so behind, we've only watched episode 1. And only watched Capaldis first season. Now I almost want to wait and then binge it all at once, but I want to watch it really bad.

I've never read the books, as I never had a desire too, so it's great to get more movies and expand the story. I think Rogue one was more similar to the trilogies than Solo is though. Because it has more of the epic storyline and fight against the empire going on. H describes Solo as more of a heist movie compared to the space saga we get in the others. Plus Rogue One just filled in some parts of the story we already knew. They steal the plans and die to get them to the rebels. So going into the theater, there was a certain expectation that was delivered on. I think a lot of people had different expectations for Solo and so there was disappointment from that.

From what I've seen a lot of people boycotted solo because of their displeasure with The Last Jedi. It ended backfiring in their face because their beloved Obi wan movie has been put on hold as a result. SW fans are dumb.

Is it my favorite SW? No. But it's not like it was Revenge of the Sith. I'm actually pretty ok with no Obi-Wan movie. We've had his story. Padawans start training young. So his life up to Phantom Menace was all training. And then after Sith? He goes and sits in a desert for 18 years. Seems kind of boring to me.

Im the odd man out, not for a lack of trying though. It's one of the things H and I share too. He's very into Star Wars. DD1's first bday was SW themed, and I painted a death star picture for DD2's nursery. They're going to be fans by proxy. Lol.

DS and DN1 are die hard, DS is finally old enough to pay attention to the movies. They watched with my parents when we were down for the holidays. So our parents, H, siblings, and kids are all about it. I put my headphones on and read fic when they marathon. Because if they watch one they watch them all. Same with LOTR.

I have tried so hard but I just CANNOT get into Star Wars. I know enough about it to get by but it just doesnt do it for me. Everyone has their thing. This is me and HP. I read the books and watched the movie. It was cool but I don't get the obsessive hype at all. But I get they have their thing and I have mine. Some are Trekkies, Whovians, Potter fans, and then there are people like me who aspire to be part of the 501st.

Idk, just seeing my sn up there in a line makes me thinkI'm being to AW-y or whatnot. So yes please, start threads, and I will contribute if I can.

I’m rereading HP for the billionth time. Makes my heart happy. I started rereading because my sister got me the illustrated ones. They’re beautiful, and I love the details in the illustrations. Not an easy size to cuddle up with in bed though!

HP (I'm a Ravenclaw), Marvel, LOTR, Jurassic Park/ World, Star Wars, Murdoch Mysteries, and Jane Austen are my things.
I share a lot of the memes here with DH. His things, in addition to the above (minus Austen), are Zelda, Cowboy Bebop, and Firefly.
Eta: Can't believe I forgot Indiana Jones and Pixar! Plus also to Gilmore Girls. Hunger Games, Outlander, GoT, Sherlock, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Willow, All Souls Trilogy, Ready Player One (Book only!).

I forgot to mention that I love horror, especially the Halloween/michael myers stuff. But I’ll watch anything really. I also appreciate that Paul Rudd was grown up tommy in Halloween the curse of Michael myers. So I adore him for that.

lupincat, It was alright. It followed a fairly predictable formula and was enjoyable enough, but also pretty forgettable. I've only seen it once, though, so maybe I need a few more viewings to see if it sparks more feeling in me. Right now, I'm pretty meh on it. I didn't hate it, though. Dinosaurs are always cool.

I agree. The first half, on the island, was good but they kind of lost me after that. I'm still interested to see how the next one goes.
