I know nothing about taxes I plug some numbers in and whatever happens, happens. You are not alone. I did individual income tax audit for a state for 3 years. The tax code changes every year. And the laws aren’t always clear. I love electronic filing, but also hate it. I like to see the calculation process for my sanity.

Next year I think we are going to have to have a professional do them though, because our income stuff is about to get very complicated. I'm sad about having to outsource, because I enjoy it. But I want to take the maximum deductions as well, and not get audited so I'll deal haha.

They are only as good as the information they are given.

They are only as good as the information they are given. Yeah, but they can also know what's a red flag to the IRS. And things like what is considered an allowable meals expense and what isn't. I feel very strongly that having an accountant reduces the odds of being audited. Oh and THE BEST part of having an accountant is that if something does go wrong, they got you. Vermont sent us a surprise tax bill for $2500 from our 2018 taxes and DH was freaking all the way out. I called up Amanda and she asked the numbers matched with our 1099-K, which they did, so then she sent off a letter of explanation pointing out that we had accounted for those earnings on my S-Corp tax filing and then they sent us a letter back saying "all good!" It was so easy and painless. I adore my accountant approximately as much as I adore my plumber.

G lost his first tooth today! He's been asking very specific questions about every possible scenario regarding this tooth for the last few days so I was happy to get a picture from his teacher with his tooth safely tucked away in a little treasure box from the office.

TW murder {Spoiler}A trans woman I know was just murdered in a hate crime on Tuesday. Middle of the day, left on the side of the road. The guy murdered her because she was "making sexual advances." Which, BTW, "Gay Panic" is considered an allowable defense of murder in some states (Vermont isn't one of them). I didn't know her super well, but my community is reeling. She was an open loving person with a huge smile. There are so many news stories and FB posts about her today. I don't need lots of condolences or anything. There is just lots of sadness all around me right now and I needed a place to release my sadness that wasn't on the people who were much closer to her.
It's bringing back memories of the grief in my community surrounding AIDS and gay hate crimes when I was child and young adult. It all seems so far away, but apparently it's not.

mapleme had a hot sauce on Hot Ones? That’s so cool! We did! For all of season 7. I'm working on getting another one on the show. That's actually part of the reason that we have a ton of micros happening right now. They are amongst the pitches for the show (and for a couple other projects). And just because I want to share, but can't actually say much, we're also working on a project with an academy award winner right now (including zoom meetings, which feels a little surreal). So we have lots of cool stuff happening.

I put a wreath out earlier this spring on my front door. I’d seen a few birds around it and just assumed they were pulling off the excess stuff to build a nest. Nope, they built it IN the wreath. And now there are bird eggs in it. J is soooooo excited.

I couldn't go anywhere near our back porch after the robins were born there a couple years ago. Fortunately they don't stay in the nest for super long.

mapleme I'm 85% sure they are finch eggs. A google image search matches the eggs pretty closely and I'm trying to get a good luck at the bird in the nest and it looks brown with white stripes like a finch.

We had a finch nest in one of our hanging baskets last year. They'll just fly away when you come close. We were able to water the flowers and put them back up and mama would come back after we went inside.

I didn't think that hiring could become harder, but it definitely has. We're just getting crickets regardless of pay listed. One of my employees has given notice for a position that she is wholly unqualified for (I wish her the best of luck though), but I'm sure that that company is offering her the position because they're in a similar position as us. At some point things need to free up and become better because oof.

Anybody have x-large snap workhorses (green edge I think) they’d like to get rid of? Checking here first before buying new.

Looks amazing.
It’s warm and sunny here. This weekend I plan to do a lot of yard work and make plans to fix the front lawn.
We made plans for a museum trip next week and then visiting family.

Looks great milano! We are at 86 with 68% humidity here, it’s going to be quite a sweaty soccer practice tonight! MH is going to be MIA for much of the next week & I’m already pre-grumpy about it.

There's no school for L tomorrow so it feels like a Friday night to me. It's sunny and the snow is melting. I'm having a beer while I cook dinner.
N laid down in a patch of sunlight on my bed and fell asleep. I have to wake her up soon if I want bedtime to be reasonable but she looks so sweet 😍
