Ok, so while we're talking about *things* I could use some more advice; running specific so feel free to glaze over or skip if run racing isn't your thing and you don't care. My marathon is October 2nd and I had another super long run planned for tomorrow and another next Thursday. Then I'd have to taper because I basically cannot do more 2-3+ hour runs once I'm back to work. This is how it was for my other marathons and I substitute by doing a middle mile overload so I got the same weekly mileage, but in shorter increments over more days. It was fine the other two times and I plan to do it this time too. BUT, my last two marathons I trained almost entirely outside. This one I've trained almost entirely on the treadmill. Guys, I need to run 16 miles on my treadmill tomorrow and I just DON'T WANT TO. Like, that is too long, too many miles, too much to do on my treadmill. Then the next week I would need to do 18 miles still on the treadmill. And I can't start until all three kids are up and fed and dealt with but then they're home the whole time. A three hour run will end up taking me four hours because I'll have to jump off and on God only knows how many times to help my kids with things. I won't be done until like noon? 1pm? Then it's Naptime for DS and DD2 and I've ignored them all day. I really don't want my longest training run to be 14 miles, but I also cannot stand the idea of running 16 miles on my treadmill, constantly interrupted throughout it. And no, having someone watch them isn't an option. I don't have anyone to help with this. And our next weekends are already busy with the baby's birthday and a trip to Hershey Park. I'll be fine for my race if I'm done with those super long runs a few weeks beyond a two week taper, but not going over 14 sucks. I'm not built for distance running and 14 miles is notoriously where my body begins to hit a wall or break down no matter how well trained or fueled or hydrated I am. So I like getting over that as much as I can. I already know this race will be a slog for me. There is no PR, it will be slow and ugly. But I don't know. Like if I run 10 miles tomorrow instead it'll be ok, yeah? Someone just tell me how to do life at this point please. I don’t have a ton of experience with full marathons but I’d bet you’ll be able to at least finish. So much of the last ten miles (five for a half) is mental determination for me. Could you do the 16/18 milers in several blocks throughout the day? Like, 8 miles early morning, then another 4 and 4 in the afternoon and evening? Not quite the same as all at once but your legs are still getting the same amount of mileage in a short 12ish hour span. I could definitely chunk it up. I've done that before. That might actually be the best solution that I didn't even consider. Mostly because I lose steam throughout the day, but yeah, that might be the right answer. I only want to finish. My first full marathon my longest training run was only 12 miles and still finished. The last like 6 miles were mentally tough, but they were for my second that I was actually very well trained for too, so it feels like a total toss up.

Welcome toebeans! This thread is my happy place - I hope you come to hang out! cnf - I agree with what has been said. I have no doubt you can finish a marathon based on the training you’ve done so far. That said, if you can squeeze in a 16ish mile run by breaking it up, I think it would help you mentally at least. But you’ll be ok either way!

It is expensive but worthwhile for us because we both hate the gym and we aren’t runners. The mirror home gym is about 1/2 the price and I’ve heard good reviews of it. Here was a fairly comprehensive comparison www.google.com/amp/s/www.tomsguide.com/amp/news/tonal-vs-mirror

Like jorkzy said, ice cream is ok to have. What you have listed isn't a whole lot of food- so 1) you likely had room for that ice cream 2) you might be able to control cravings better if you included a little more in each of your meals. You don't have much for fruits/veggies. Is this normal or just an off day? The dinner isn't normal, I'd usually make something that would include veggies. That is my usual work day breakfast and lunch though. I didn't feel like cooking so I just ate random stuff for dinner. A shake, a couple bars, a rice cake, and cookies is a normal day? You need an apple or carrot sticks or something in there. Is it a time or not being able to refrigerate issue? I have days that end up like that too, but they are also the days I struggle at the end of the day.

Today I did: - 10 minute core with Robin - 10 minute arms toning with Kendall - 20 minute pop run with Jess - 1 mile incline walk
I’m headed to a pool party later where I will stuff my face and also get some swimming in

Happy Wednesday!
I've been taking it easy on my foot. The good news is that I was able to run 3 miles yesterday in my Sauconys and it felt fine. I did a short walk today and that's it until Friday, when the relay starts!
I'm super excited, there's 6 of us in our van, and 2 vans on our team. I fly to Portland tomorrow and we start running on Friday and run through Saturday. Thursday night we're having team dinner at a winery. Our van is loaded up with snacks, electrolytes, water, a massage gun, and of course a mini disco ball! Very excited to experience this race!

cnf are you ok walking parts or would you want to run the whole thing? Oh girl, I walk. I can run to about 14-16 miles without stopping, but after that I've never not needed to walk. My body isn't built to 26.2 miles.

FYI, Target has kid yoga mats in the dollar spot for $5 each. I got each of the girls one because they always steal mine and they are obsessed.

The weekends would be my only option but we cram so much in I just really don't feel like I can justify doing the long runs then while the kids and him sit around and wait for me so we can then go about our day. This weekend we have a ton of shit to do all day Saturday then we're having a birthday party for the baby Sunday. Next weekend we'll be in PA camping. It's hard to justify the time for me to take on the weekends when I have infinite time during the week right now.

For me, it would be worth it to get up a bit earlier to go out first thing and get it done on a weekend morning when you can get a quality run in, outside, without interruption. They don’t have to wait around for you, they can start the day and you’ll pick up when you finish. But it’s up to you. That’s what I would do/do do.

I head out on Sundays around 7:30, and my husband and kids have special activities/shows that they save to do during that time. Then I'm home with plenty of time for whatever our plans are. My ranking of options would be- 1. Weekend long runs 2. Split into 2 runs same day 3. 2-3 back to back slightly lower mileage runs on consecutive days, with the longest of the runs on 2nd or 3rd day to simulate tired legs as much as possible

Tonight I did a 30 minute 80s ride with Hannah F from a few weeks ago — I just love her, she cracks me up! Fun ride, not too hard but not easy.
I chose the weighted HCOF stack for today, and my triceps are dead. Noodle arms here.

The heat is going to break so I can do 8-10 miles first thing in the morning, take the kid to a playground, get middlest and littlest down for naps, then finish. Should only cost me about two hours in between runs and I can do 8-10 miles fast enough to have hopefully only one or two interruptions at most. DD1 won't bother me at all for the second half.shr couldn't care less that I'm running and will do things herself.
