I found a women-owned tattoo/piercing parlor that does kids and the piercers have really good reviews. So I think we’ll do that in September after her birthday and when she’s done swimming 3-4 days a week.
Thanks all!

I was allowed to pierce my ears when I turned 5, and DD's 5th birthday is next week so I asked her if she wanted big girl earrings. Except, she's seen the Lindsey Lohan Parent Trap and has decided never to pierce her ears 🤣

I told her when she’s 7 yo and she called me a meanie. I don’t think she realizes that they actually poke a hole in your ear. She isn’t a fan of needles or pain. My mom got mine pierced when I was an infant and they ended up uneven. It’s not awful, but I notice it when I wear studs, so I usually wear small hoops. And I don’t like sleeping in hoops, so I really just don’t wear any at all.

My girls begged to get their ears pierced, and then wearing earrings at night drove them both crazy, so they took them out. The girls had horse camp last week, and they loved it so much that they’re doing it again next week. Only two more weeks until they go back to school! We are helping some friends move today. Then I am starting some seeds indoor for my fall garden and cleaning out my raised beds.

After getting my ears re-pierced at a tattoo parlor a few years ago, I’m a little horrified at how many piercings I got at the mall. 😬 I had no idea there was another way to do it.
I might go and get some new holes in my ears this weekend. Full moon in Aquarius seems like a good time to do that. 🌚

I’m having such a nice little Saturday. I slept in until 9:30 which is later than I have in years. I was so sleep deprived. Then we went and ran errands like in the pre covid days (with masks) and now I’m just kicking it in our backyard listening to tunes and watching h clean our camping equipment from the great barf incident of a couple weeks ago. Everything was cleaned once but he’s making sure it doesn’t smell or need additional attention. This camping stuff is his pride and joy.

I feel like the restocking tiktok people all eat a boatload of clementines.
It's exactly 6 strawberries, a container of celery, one carton of oat milk and 5 lbs of clementines.
I never have clementines in my fridge. I buy a few, toss them in the fruit bowl, and we eat them.
I'll never be tiktok famous, I guess.

dc2london, I love those too. But I've noticed it's light on the fruits/vegetables. Guess those aren't as satisfying to stack up.

Lol I’m not sure where I fall on the TikTok fridge spectrum. We do buy five pounds of clementines at a time and store them in the fridge. The fridge restocks bothers me for the same reason the laundry restocks do. Since the exact amount can’t be stored in your pretty clear containers, aren’t you causing more storage issues by having to store the remainders somewhere? I mean, it looks pretty. But maybe I’m missing something because it doesn’t seem practical to me.

Have you seen the tiktoks of people doing mini fridges for their younger kids? I just think about the mess it would make. And that I wised the one woman needed to cut the grapes

The kids help themselves between meals. Sometimes it means 3 apples a day for the 4 year old, but whatever.

For those with older kids, we started The Mysterious Benedict Society today on Disney+ and it's really fun. It's laid the groundwork for all kinds of conversations about society, literary devices and themes, etc as well. I've been meaning to read the books for a long time but the show is really fun and well done. And so timely!!

How many of your millennial followers have garages much less whole ass secondary appliances.

I am so sorry, I am GRUMPY today. I've had a low electrolyte headache for a day and a half and it isn't responding to any of my usual remedies.

dc2london, I hope you are feeling better today! My son just practically gave me a heart attack. He stuck one of those polished rocks that you get at museum stores up his nose while we were in the middle of packing the car for a road trip. He thought it would fit nicely? Omg, child. You are 8 years old. We were eventually able to pull it out with tweezers, but I was having visions of returning to the ER to have it removed (it’s been less than 2 weeks since we were last there for him).

dc2london, hope you're feeling much better. It's so disheartening with tried and true remedies just don't turn the trick for some reason.

I did this with a playground pebble when I was 4, it was a trip to the ER. Apparently I didn’t have pockets and liked THAT rock. My mom still has some resentment in her voice when she tells the story, but also laughs. Resentment is usually when she talks about having to sit on me while orderlies were called in to hold me since I was basically the Incredible Hulk. “It was me and 4 grown men holding her down. The doctor was finally able to get it out and she said ‘Oh, that was it?’ Since then, I have learned that you can plug the other nostril and blow through their mouth to help dislodge too.

I do a restock of bagged cereal though into a cereal container. Not like the bag inside a box but the big bags you buy loose.

I have always put some stuff into clear containers--mainly things like rice or pasta where I don't use the whole bag at once and the packaging isn't resealable. But I'm moving more and more to repackaging because my children think that if you put an empty box of granola bars back on the shelf the Costco fairy will replenish them. At least if the granola bars are in a clear bin that I can see is empty, I know that BEFORE the grocery run. Lol.

I will also fully admit that this is the first time I've had an actual full sized pantry and making it look nice brings me joy.
