The twins are starting to get really fucking hard and I fear for the next couple of years. I am just so exhausted. I just want it to be September. I have started to really dislike summer especially with climate change.

Support like, willow. Twins sound so very hard and I have tremendous respect for those parents making it work. You're doing your best and rocking it. It's ok to need breaks, even long ones, from kids. I hope you're able to squeeze in a little respite from it all soon.

Kitttaaaays!!! (As dd3 shrieks)
I'm in mourning for our proposed main bathroom remodel. We had been working with a designer for a total gut renovation, and she came back with an estimate $15k over what we were hoping. Old house with a lot of unknowns behind the walls and ceiling, so it's not hugely surprising but it is disappointing since it means we won't be able to do it this year. Maybe then material costs will have balanced out? Trying to see an upside.

willow hugs. You’ve been doing this with such grace. They are moving now and into everything I’m sure. Mine turn 2.5 this week and some days they are great and adorable. Other days no one listens to me and I want to curl up in a ball and cry. I hope you can find the help and support you need.

Mine are 4.5 and still up and down like this - some weekends are a million years long and full of fighting. Other times they are so much fun. Overall, I think it's slowly getting better. Twin mom-ing is some serious shit.

It’s definitely easier than twin toddler but still so hard in some ways.

Thanks guys. I am lucky to have a lot of help and support but it still feels very difficult. I know it’s not going to get easy but I will look forward to the slightly more capable older toddler phase. I don’t expect parenting to be a breeze or anything, but man, sometimes my brain just feels so drained. I love all of them so much but I frequently question my capabilities as a mother of three.

Thank you, it does help to know that other women feel this too. I just knew my mental bandwidth would be capped at 2 kids which is why I had a lot of mixed feelings when I found out it was twins. I can’t imagine our lives without all of them now of course but my fears were proven true. It feels so mentally taxing right now.

Does anyone have a great potato salad recipe? Whatever you like in your standard potato salad plus Texas Pete. Not a ton, just a little and it adds a real depth of flavor.

I’ve recently found myself KTFU (accident) and my husband doesn’t understand why I’m not excited. I’m overwhelmed and need some time. I’m stealing your phrase of “my mental bandwidth is capped”.

My kids are between ages 8-13, day to day life is so much easier than when they were little, but I didn’t realize how hard the young years were until they were older. It seemed like other parents had a much better grasp on life than I did. when I finally found a tight group of friends, we shared each other’s struggles and that support made all the difference. It gets better, hang in there.

I’ve been off the grid for the last couple of days. We spent our 4th at a gorgeous national park. We had a lovely time and would still be there but DS threw up in our tent at 2 am last night and we had to move to the car and it was a long night. We rallied to enjoy the sights today but made an exit to my aunt’s house for a sleep in a real bed and a shower.

jaygee hope your little dude is feeling better! He is! I should have mentioned that. He’s kind of known for the one off throw up and this seems to be another one. I think maybe too much sun and sweets - maybe the altitude- got to him. Which is much better than the alternatives my mind was running at 2 am - I was worried he had food poisoning or a stomach bug and all 3 of us were going down with 7 hours of driving in between us and home. He woke up fine and downed a huge breakfast and we carried on with our hike and activities. He got his junior ranger badge and was a happy camper.
