I’m wonder if the CDC figures the states that were strict in masking before will just follow suit with the recommendations and won’t spell it out that way. All I know is the Daily this morning didn’t make me feel great. It sounded like we are seeing a lot more breakthrough infections than expected. i did listen too and it confirmed what we've seen here anecdotally and what I've been seeing on my circles. Delta clearly causes more symptomatic breakthrough than what was expected. Most breakthrough cases do not lead to hospital or death but some are leading to long covid, so most experts are saying get vaxxed and wear a mask even if vaxxed.

I think the entire messaging should be - this is the strongest variant we’ve seen yet, we need all mitigation strategies, wear a gosh darn mask you dum dums. (And now you know why I don’t work in PR/marketing) But you should! Maybe people will listen.

CDC to announce updated mask guidance, per sources (excerpt) - the UK info is interesting, too, IMIO The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to recommend that people vaccinated for the coronavirus resume wearing masks indoors in certain areas of the country. linkThis will go absolutely nowhere. I'm so frustrated. We need a new mandate but we aren't getting one

Anti Masker/Vaxer Clay Higgins (R-LA)and family have Covid. For the second time. He’s such a disgrace. TBH, I don't actually think he's had it twice. He said he had it a first time in January 2020. So no testing back then and he would've been one of the first documented cases in the US. Maybe he had a cold. I think it was just an out if people asked if he was vaccinated..."I had covid and I have natural immunity."

I think it was just an out if people asked if he was vaccinated..."I had covid and I have natural immunity." This is a good point. And he can’t really get around either being a liar about having COVID previously, or admitting natural COVID immunity is not enough protection and doesn’t last that long.

MH's office (govt) is going back to teleworking. They're aiming for at least 50% teleworking. He was back in the office for a whole 3 weeks before someone decided, whoops, maybe that was too soon
I'm really hoping the schools smarten up and require masks. I'm really grappling with sending DD in person vs doing one of those online public schools

mrsweasley my work has been very proactive in keeping us safe. They just sent an email today that they are closely monitoring delta and it’s impact on our reopening plan (it was to be staggered starting after Labor Day).

I really hope the union meeting we have proves to be fruitful in pushing back on our full reopening after Labor Day. It just seems to be a riskier and riskier plan as each day goes by. We are up to over 1,000 cases a day again after being under 200 for a lot of June and July. Ugh.

I know there are so many different agencies and whatnot, but the differences in teleworking and policy have been crazy. I hope they realize most people have been successfully working from home and can continue to do so

My coworkers and I realize that we will be back in the office full time eventually, or at least with hopefully flexibility to work from home if we don't have court scheduled. But right now, all of our court is virtual until some time next year so being in the office would only serve the purpose of just....having warm bodies in seats. It is silly.

For my situation, the data currently emerging that the fully vaccinated may transmit more viral load than was previously believed has a big impact.

Also, today was declared county work appreciation day by the governor for all the work county employees did during the pandemic. They gave us cookies (1 each!) and a tumbler. But not everyone gets a tumbler. Such a big f-u from teh county to the sub staff who came in when people were out for covid and floated to all the buildings being exposed to the most people possible.

My job is pretty safe and we have little outside contact with anyone. All of our accounts are with places like hospitals and the CDC, so we use strict precautions, but my kids start back Friday and our county hasn’t said anything about masks. Both my boys are vaccinated, but DD is 9. I can’t imagine they’ll enforce a mask policy either. The stress….. 😫

Yeah I fully realize that I am privileged to be in the situation that I am in, but it seems very premature to invite a bunch of people back into the building when we don't have to in order to do our job, ya know? We are getting a coffee mug too with our office's emblem on it. Woohoo....how about lets not all go back to the office as a way to show appreciation instead? ha.

For my situation, the data currently emerging that the fully vaccinated may transmit more viral load than was previously believed has a big impact. Yes, that is making me nervous as well. Combined with the fact that kid vaccines keep getting pushed back, and I'm thinking my kids are going to have to start wearing their masks around grandparents again. Ugh this sucks. It was the one area of my kids lives that was "normal." And I know it's early and probably nobody wants to think about this, but it's going to majorly impact the holidays for our family again most likely. Ugh this sucks.
