Senator Marshall thinks 400 dead children is acceptable because they probably had preexisting conditions so uh, if he's your Senator, you might want to call him JFC. I have no idea who this guy is (don't think I've heard his name before now) and I hate him. |

What in the actual fuck This is why I have zero hope things will change if more kids start getting sick. When it comes to kids or economy, they'll choose economy every time. Such pro life. (Sorry I am trying to make some tough calls about this wedding and am feeling very salty RN.) Dr Walensky said that we have to stop thinking that we don't need to protect our children bc "only 400" kids have died, that kids aren't supposed to doe and he replied with basically, I assume they all had preexisting conditions and ended his questioning I cannot even find the words to express everything that is wrong with that statement. |

I'm panicking a bit. DS just turned 3, and hasn't been in daycare since March 2020. It closed for a while, and then we decided to find a sitter for him once we went back to school in August. She was wonderful, but she had her 3rd LO a few months ago and her husband has to start traveling for work again very soon, so she doesn't feel like she can do it this year. I have posted in my (large) neighborhood FB group, NextDoor, and care.com and have only had 1 lead (who has since stopped communicating). My big request is that the person is fully vaxxed, and I truly think that is the sticking point. There just aren't that many around us vaccinated. Especially with Delta (and in an area with 40% vaxxed), we don't want him around a bunch of unmasked kids everyday in a larger childcare setting. There are so few kids masked here and walking around stores. As soon as he is fully vaxxed, I will gladly put him back in daycare. We've made it this long, and I just need someone to watch him for a few more months. Ugh. I'm feeling defeated tonight. What about high school or college students at least for the summer to give you a little more time to find someone for the fall until vaccines are available? We both teach, so he's home for the summer with us. We go back in about a month right when colleges start heading back here. I reposted and to a larger area on Nextdoor last night and woke up to 2 more candidates plus the the initial one back in communication (apparently they were camping), so I'm feeling better about it today. |

He could have been seen as a hero, and maybe ::shudder:: won the election.
