How do we get to those who are hesitant and not anti-vax? There has to be something. That thread is a good reminder that not everybody has access to the same information. As someone who reads lots of news sources and seeks out information, it’s easy for me to forget that a lot of people don’t also do that or may not be able to do this. There are plenty of people who have legitimate reasons for being vaccine hesitant. And lots of people who are indifferent. Recognizing this and meeting people where they are is a vital step to overcoming vaccine hesitancy. Having visible, easy to understand information in places where people can get informed even if they aren’t actively seeking it out could make a difference in convincing them to get vaccinated. Honestly, vaccines are well understood at this point but the newness of this one is going to be what holds a lot of people back, even if they have the facts. Every doctor and healthcare professional I spoke with after my facial numbness from the Pfizer shot said “I don’t know, we don’t have enough information yet. That’s really odd. I don’t know what to do/tell you. Idk when or if it’ll go away.” and just left it there. None of this was very comforting. I’ve been hesitant but vocally pro covid vaccine this whole time ftr. I am a lot more hesitant now and don’t know how I’m feeling about vaccines for my small children. If there’s a reaction you’re told “I don’t know/have info on that”, that you’re lying or minimizing things by saying ‘that’s better than catching Covid’. I still advocate for vaccinating because every body is different but the way I was treated definitely made me feel like a guinea pig. Which adds on to my already negative feelings about a lot of healthcare in general. Pregnancy adds to nervousness too. I’m not allowed to get my second dose so rely on other to get theirs, and hope they do, but there’s a lot of lumping people into categories that I don’t find fair or helpful. (Yes I know in the grand scheme the numbness I had/have was benign)

babybean , benign yes, but it's sure as hell scary while you're going through it and waiting for it to stop. I was given the same response as you and made to feel the same way (like a guinea pig) over and over again by all the doctors I saw for my reactions. And basically as long as I didn't die from getting my shot, I should make getting a second one a priority (I was even told by a doctor to lie about my vaccine history in order to do so). There was no nuance or understanding of the fear of what will happen if I try again. I was able to get the j+j as my second dose eventually at least.

I thought that I was ok with taking my girls to a cousin's graduation party this weekend. It was in a fire hall so that there could be alot of space. But I watched the video that I shared yesterday AND THEN I found out that they are expecting 70 people. My DD1 is upset that she isn't going (she even asked for a new dress), but then I told her that if she got sick she wouldn't be able to go to the beach the following week so now she is fine with staying home.

And now I know i follow you on IG. Based on BP it's a boy. Based on my gut it's a girl. So I'm not helpful! Loll The IG/ HIH guessing game is funny. There are many I can match but many I couldn't. I allllllllways forget peoples’ IG names. 😂

Soo just took a covid test at home and I can't tell if it's a squinter or if it's just me seeing the line where the test strip is? Ughhhhhh
It's pregnancy all over again.

I don't have a fever, but I'm heavy and exhausted and have swollen lymph nodes in my under arms.
I'm 2 weeks out from my first vax- that's too late for aide effects, right?

Did you already have side effects from it? And how closely have you been monitoring your lymph node? Swelling can starts several days after vaccination and take 2 weeks to go away.

I think if it’s lymph nodes and fatigue, it could be a post-vax thing, even 2 weeks out. They’ve said the enlarged armpit and breast lymphnodes can last 3-4 weeks. It could also be a little cold and your immune system is already in fighting mode from the vaccine and overreacting a bit.

I know only noticed it a little yesterday and today it was more pronounced. But I'm notorious for not noticing pain so much. No side effects after the shot really.

I didn’t delete my comment. And I would have responded to anyone else that said the same thing, the same way. I’m sick of the “she is just here to cause drama” from you. That’s such bullshit and completely unfair. Your comment was so low drama to me that I literally didn't register it when easier got upset. But lack of retention is clearly a me problem. Ugh. GolfB, I have boundaries and I deserve to have them respected. “I think you have me blocked but I’m gonna talk at you anyway” is shitty. Leave me alone.

Ugh, too bad the schools here can't mandate them thanks to our worthless governor. I'm hoping at the very least this will make more parents have their kids wear them. But I fully expect my girls to be the only kids in their classes in masks this fall.

People are protesting tomorrow at my school district's office to "advocate for mask choice". They want to restore smiles - eye roll for days
One mom, when told her child could do virtual if she was so afraid of Covid, said maybe the maskless kids should stay home. Thunderous applause from me.
I am ready for the French method of dealing with these a-holes, no shots no fun things. I am done trying to reach out to their senses

My child wearing a mask does not hurt anyone else. Their child not wearing a mask has the potential to hurt and even kill people. Who should be the one to stay home 🤔 I'm so frustrated with these people.

Ironic that you want to address me without tagging me. What’s funny is that I purposely quoted you so as to AVOID vague posting, since that’s what you got so upset about last time. You saying I’m just here for drama is shitty, but I’m guessing I won’t get an apology for that.

Let them know there are masks that have a clear front so people can see your smiles. Maybe invest in a few of those.

My kids started their outdoor swim lessons today. DS who is 6 was not enthused at all going in and I was nervous about how he'd do since he's been home for 16 months. He did so well! It took him a few minutes to get into it, but then he was doing everything his teachers asked him and having fun.
I may have cried behind my sunglasses a little bit.

I'm panicking a bit. DS just turned 3, and hasn't been in daycare since March 2020. It closed for a while, and then we decided to find a sitter for him once we went back to school in August. She was wonderful, but she had her 3rd LO a few months ago and her husband has to start traveling for work again very soon, so she doesn't feel like she can do it this year.
I have posted in my (large) neighborhood FB group, NextDoor, and care.com and have only had 1 lead (who has since stopped communicating). My big request is that the person is fully vaxxed, and I truly think that is the sticking point. There just aren't that many around us vaccinated.
Especially with Delta (and in an area with 40% vaxxed), we don't want him around a bunch of unmasked kids everyday in a larger childcare setting. There are so few kids masked here and walking around stores. As soon as he is fully vaxxed, I will gladly put him back in daycare. We've made it this long, and I just need someone to watch him for a few more months. Ugh. I'm feeling defeated tonight.
