My son had a fever this weekend, so we opted to get an at home test from CVS. It came back negative, but I’m wondering how many people are getting positives from these types of tests. Unless you go to a doctor to confirm, they aren’t getting counted

Unless you go to a doctor to confirm, they aren’t getting counted I did an at-home today too - just to be safe after traveling/funeral as I have some in-person work stuff this week. I do wonder how many people use them. They’re so convenient but not cheap.

How do we get to those who are hesitant and not anti-vax? There has to be something. That thread is a good reminder that not everybody has access to the same information. As someone who reads lots of news sources and seeks out information, it’s easy for me to forget that a lot of people don’t also do that or may not be able to do this. There are plenty of people who have legitimate reasons for being vaccine hesitant. And lots of people who are indifferent. Recognizing this and meeting people where they are is a vital step to overcoming vaccine hesitancy. Having visible, easy to understand information in places where people can get informed even if they aren’t actively seeking it out could make a difference in convincing them to get vaccinated.

So true! One of my sister’s BILs hadn’t gotten vaxed yet and he lives with her MIL (and her and her SO) and was very shruggy about getting it bc he works at home and moved back to SB from SF and doesn’t hang out with anyone except the 3 people he lives with. She told me last night that then he got super high and had an existential crisis about how if he doesn’t get the vax does it mean he is anti vax or that’s how people view him and some other mumbo jumbo shit that he ended up freaking out and running to get his vaccine that same day 😂 but his indifference I’m sure isn’t an isolated thing.

Hope he feels better soon!

I’m keeping track of all the guesses, though, it’s fun! Haha Haven’t seen any bump photos, so I need to do some recon?

This is what I highly suspect. There is no way everyone who has it is being caught with a test because access has gone way down. They really needed to wait a few more months at least Or at least until a certain percentage is vaccinated a/o available to all for a time period.

I have been pretty lazy about taking them. But I’m 39 weeks on Thursday and will be induced that day if nothing happens before. Maybe I will put a bump pic on IG. 😊

I know I’ve seen many snuggled bump photos though.

Unless you go to a doctor to confirm, they aren’t getting counted I didn't even think about this. Yikes. I had a customer ask me where our tests were yesterday and she didn't have a mask on so I took her over to their location but I walked really fast in front of her to keep away.

No. I don’t know if golfb deleted her comment but that’s what ocean was referring to. I’m not going back to look. I have certain people blocked because I do not want to engage with them. I’m open to having respectful dialogue with people who are actually interested in that and not just causing drama. It’s what I have to do to protect my peace, for better or worse. I am sorry if my comment came off as judging people that don’t wear masks. That’s not what I said and honestly I’d hope you all knew that’s not what I meant, but I guess some people read me a certain way. Frankly I don’t like putting my energy into responding to things I didn’t say. 🤷🏼♀️ I didn’t delete my comment. And I would have responded to anyone else that said the same thing, the same way. I’m sick of the “she is just here to cause drama” from you. That’s such bullshit and completely unfair. Your comment was so low drama to me that I literally didn't register it when easier got upset. But lack of retention is clearly a me problem.

If you’re looking for a CV test then put a goddamn mask on! ETA: we have a full antivaxxer mom on our unit - not even just no to CV but also to Hep B, the whole slew of 2mo vaccines, etc (don’t get me started on it… she has an ex 25wkr and an ex 31wkr whose now past his due date and still with us for lung issues…) anyway. She showed up yesterday to visit (she does do CV tests and is negative to date), but I was like OKAY BYEEEEEEEE and ran out as fast as I could. You may be negative for CV as of 7/13 ma’am but you may also have the measles or something else.

I see it child endangerment adjacent.

kbw, glad he's feeling better. And it's certainly easy enough to assume every fever/sneeze/cough is COVID, even though there are plenty of other illnesses out there. Our pediatrician described it as "Covid came to the playground but all the other childhood illnesses are still on the playground too"

H just texted, he talked to his brother and parents and they are all cool with us keeping N home. I don't know why I'm so shocked, but I am.
Now to decide if I stay home too, or just N. Setting aside this would be the longest we've been away from him, I'm still concerned about one of us bringing it back.

I have a couple boxes upstairs for those moments when we question the kids’ stuffy noses or we want to rapid before getting the pcr done. I’ve also gotten tests for neighbors who want a test but won’t risk going in public 🤷🏼♀️

Our pediatrician described it as "Covid came to the playground but all the other childhood illnesses are still on the playground too" Yea my youngest had croup last week. We ended up in the ER. She is fine now and tested negative. It is so scary with all the "normal" fall/ winter illnesses going around coupled with the rise in covid. It sucks so hard since everyone looked forward to summer to have "safer" activities.

My niece turns 13 next month, and my SIL was planning to throw a big party. I had so much anxiety over it because I knew I may not feel comfortable taking my kids. Then niece decided she doesn't want a party and wants to go mini golf with a friend instead. So relieved. Sounds like more fun than a party with relatives anyway. cakewench, I'm glad your in laws were cool about it.

She actually didn't have a breathing treatment in the er, but they did give her a dose of steroids. I took her in because she woke up screaming at the top of her lungs that he throat hurt and I couldn't calm her down. Lots of steamy showers and pulling out the humidifier helped.
