I stopped working off laptop screens like a week into wfh. I still had to use the keyboard of it for like a year before they gave me a regular keyboard. But everyone brought home their dual monitors (which is great but also a beast to find desk space for as they are 2 24” ones) I was so thankful when my company gave us $300 to outfit our WFH situation. I already had monitors so I got a nice chair and keyboard. My H got monitor and docking station from his company when it was determined that they were going to WFH for the foreseeable future.

Me too please? I'm dying to get DD1 (all of them really, but she's out school ager) vaccinated. The CNN article greykitty posted is pretty much everything I said in re: pfizer. All projections, all subject to change. I love when the news confirms everything I say though, makes me feel smart. LOL.

Anyone have recs for a drug store covid test? Are they all the same? The girls had a runny nose over the last couple of weeks and DH got it as a more aggressive cold and I thought I was spared but have had a bad sore throat/pnd/wheeziness and felt lousy the last couple of days. I am highly doubtful it's covid, but after thatgolfb 's anecdote, I feel like a negative test would give me peace of mind.

We use Binax because that's what doctor's offices and drugstores are using around here for rapid tests.

The very last quote stands out to me: "If we can't get enthusiastic about protecting the vulnerable around us, and the children around us, then we've got bigger problems than the pandemic." 😩

This is interesting when talking about dosages based on age, I wonder if they will take weight into consideration. My 11 year old is the size of a 13 year old and my almost 5 year old is the size of a 3 year old.

It was more expensive and I don’t love that it connected to your phone for results, mainly because that seems so wasteful. I’ll probably order a few of the Binax to have on hand. I will say that the child adapter was nice to make it easy to know how far to stab my son’s nose

It acts just like a pregnancy test and a line is a line for positive

This idiot is running for IL Governor. And many in my area agree with him. I'm so angry. Our district still doesn't have any info on masks for the next year.

It sucks to be more scared for my kid now than I was a year ago. But that's where we are. 😭

This Vegas anecdote is keeping me up at night. Mh is supposed to go in 3 weeks for a weekend with 2 buddies. Why they can't do Mid-Atlantic beaches is beyond me. He's realizing he likely needs to cancel since I probably won't let him back in the house afterwards for a while.

I really hate that all this was politicized when it didn’t have to. I hate how morally bankrupt our society has become. I hate it here. 😠

Our neighboring county health department has announced masks should be worn indoors again (unless you’re in a workplace and know everyone is vaccinated). So the backslide is starting, exactly one month after the governor lifted the mask mandate.

Thankfully I haven't seen too much about him here. But I'll feel better after the primary and he disappears. Also that lawyer that keeps popping up. Ugh.

I'm in Texas so same. DS isn't in public school yet. I'm just hoping his daycare doesn't decide to drop masks for teachers and parents entering the building

This is great news but, again, it's half of the school year, and my district is spending a lot of money advertising the fact that kids will be required to be in person 5 days a week but nothing telling me their virus mitigation strategies.

Yes, this. Right now masks are required, I said my kids would go to school with the assumption that they will wear masks- I was required to chose in May. The HS principal just said he hopes masks won’t be required when school starts in 5 weeks. Granted, high school and some kids will be vaxxed, but if masks are pulled from ES, parents will revolt. You can’t bait and switch with our kids lives.

Augh. I was really hoping for late September/early October. This article seems to say the FDA is asking for 4 to 6 months of data instead of the 2 months they wanted for adults. But in the meantime, tons of kids will be in school without masks. Why does it feel like the kids always get screwed?

Yeah. I’m feeling better and better about keeping DS home and in the virtual academy option our school offered. And very grateful I’m able to do that. I mean shouldn’t this be having big ripple effects in the economy? If parents and families continue to struggle due to lack of support? Idk we did just get our first CTC deposit today so maybe it will even out. But if parents like me can’t work full time for several more months, that just seems like it would have a negative effect on employers etc.
