Finished Razorblade Tears yesterday and it was so good. A black father and a white father have sons who were married to each other who are murdered. The fathers team up to find the people who did it and kill them. It was action packed! I could picture it like a movie as I read. The characters were so real and complicated but also enjoyable to root for. Would definitely recommend. (TW: Homophobia, racism, transphobia, gay and racial slurs)

I’m intimidated by the length of The Rose Code. It goes fast because it’s so good though right? I just started it and got sucked right in!

I finished Shiver by Allie Reynolds last night. It was ok. The main character was so selfish and her logic drove me nuts.
I’m starting Don’t Look For Me by Wendy Walker today.

I finished Spoiler Alert last night. I think I had hyped it up too much in my head. I enjoyed it but not as much as I expected.

I've also started the Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow. It's YA and the teen angst is cranked high. It's taking work to stick with it. I really was only able to stick with this one because of the cooking/food element honestly

I really liked The Good Lie. I appreciated that it was a thriller with a female protagonist that wasn’t a domestic tale. It was twisty and interesting, although the ending was OTT, as most thrillers are. Lots of TW stuff in there, too. But I thought it was a really solid book.
I’m going to read Local Woman Missing next.

I stayed up late to finish The Rose Code. I loved it! I especially enjoyed that Beth was such a rich, relatable, neurodiverse character. 4.5 stars.
I’m adding The Huntresss to my list. I just started How to Talk to a Goddess and Other Lessons in Real Magic by Emily Cory Barker. I also downloaded a Tessa Dare’s Romancing the Duke during Amazon’s sale of Duke-related books. Hopefully it’s good and I get sucked into the Castles Ever After series.

I got a skip the line copy of shadow and bone. I’m half way through and just tearing through it. Very entertaining, though I’m a little WTF about the “age”difference of two characters. I have 6+ months wait for the next two in the series, ha

I saw the book Riley Thorn and the Corpse in the Closet and thought it looked fun. When I realized it was a sequel, I got the first one, Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door. Ended up reading them both pretty quickly. They are cute and fun, which is good. They are also full of VERY aggressively quirky characters and scenarios. It all made sense when I realized it was the author of the Blue Moon series. If you’ve read those, you’ll know what I mean.
Looking for cotton candy romance and mystery? This will do the trick. Just be prepared for the quirk.

Yusra Mardini’s memoir, Butterfly, was excellent if anyone is looking for something to get them into the Olympic spirit. She’s a Syrian refugee who swam her boat to Greece after it broke down in the middle of the ocean. Incredible.

I’m trying to get into The Final Revival of Opal and Nev, and it’s just not happening for me. It’s got a similar style to Daisy Jones, so maybe audio is a better option? Anyone read it?

The Midnight Library - I liked this. I found the premise satisfying, the idea that many of our regrets are weighing us down for no reason at all. It definitely gets caught up in some cliche philosophy moments (“life is a tree!”). But overall, it was a sweet story. Definitely some triggery stuff in there Suicide is a significant part of the plot. Substance abuse comes up a lot. . Isn’t It Bromantic - I don’t know if this is yet another contemporary romance writer who stepped it up from their usual, or if I’m just being overly tolerant right now 😂 I’ve found this series pretty mediocre, but I liked this one. Lots of telling instead of showing with the main female character, Elena, but Vlad was well-realized. The story itself was sweet and had some elements that cracked me up (the Cheese Man).

I’m reading The Borrowers with DS1 and I am finding it really boring and hard to get into. I’m not sure if it’s the slow pace we are going or if it’s just boring but I feel bad making DS read it if he’s finding it as boring as I do. He has no opinion on the book when I’ve asked him.

We went to university together, Omar el Akkad. Same year, same program, so I bought a hard cover to support him. Both H and I disliked it. I was sad about that because I remember having interesting conversations with him.

My bookcase is getting overly full so yesterday, I had MH put some shelves in our bedroom for my TBR books. It's so, so beautiful and I love it so much. MH was like, "Cool, now every time you buy a new book, I'll aggressively stare at your stack of unread books." lol

I read One Last Stop over the weekend. Definitely could have been cut down a bit, but I loved it. So freaking cute. I started this one to take a break from Opal and Nev. Love it so far.
