2.2 mile easy walk today, CD1 ugh so I’m poolside instead of in the water. At least there’s a nice breeze. I did have a little anxiety or something last night just before bed. I thought I had made it without that this month but it’s ok. I did some breath work and was only restless for a little bit but then slept well. Progress I hope? What sort of breath work do you do? I’m glad you were able to calm down!

Morning. We're back from camping and a family reunion. Lots of bad food and alcohol. We moved a bit over the weekend. I hit 10k steps everyday. Saturday we walked the campground. About a mile of intentional walking. Yesterday we found a hike to do. It's was pretty challenging, more so than we expected. The girls did great, the baby slept in the hiking pack that H carried, and my legs are actually a bit sore even though we only did 1.16 miles. Today my ILs are coming and we have zero food in the house, so food will likely suck again today. But we'll shop and I'm going to get my shit together this week. 20 minute 2000's run with Jess King 10 minute arms and shoulders with Rad 20 minute yoga after bedtime still in my stack Hey now, that’s no way to speak of the food that energized your weekend 😉

I think today is going to be a rest day. We’re going to the pool and I’ll take the dog on a walk, but I’ll be taking it easy because my knee has been hurting the past couple days. I’ve been slacking on my knee PT exercises, so I guess my main goal this week is to get back on the horse and do them every day.
B - coffee cake, coffee with almond milk L - PB&J, chips, apple D - chicken Shawarma kebabs with grilled veggies and pita bread DS - brownies

Easy four miles for me today. And back on track with lots of veggies and water.

15 minute upper body strength and a lower body stretch. I worked until noon this morning and now I'm trying to get motivated to put my bathing suit on and float in the pool. Part of me just wants to lay on the couch but I don't want to waste a sunny day.

I’m glad you were able to calm down! I don’t know that is anything special... I’ve tried “box breathing” (imagine a box etc) which is ok. I just try and be still and envision air in/air out as I breathe and hold a few seconds before each transition. Lately the image that comes when I do it is like an air bellow or like an accordion 🤷🏻♀️

Either that or mediation, I forget, but they have breathing exercises.

Hi! I took yesterday off from working out. Not because of 4th of July fun, but because I have a raging sinus infection. It never fails, every cold I get turns into one and it’s miserable for a few days. Ugh.
BUT I got my butt in gear this morning and had a great workout. MH and I are also both off of work today, but daycare was open, so we had a nice little lunch date. I had a couple of watermelon wheat beers and an awesome caprese sandwich at a local place.
Workout:
20min 90s ride with Cody (the one where he did the gayest songs from the 90s, which was fabulous) Upper body strength via Fitbod app

I have to go shopping too. I'm missing so much stuff to make what I have planned for the week.

The counting and focusing helps the most I think. Breathe in for four beats, hold it for seven, then breathe out for eight. Repeat. I’ve found this one to be the most helpful.

Good Morning!!
Ooof I am exhausted. I had planned on working out today but there is no way. Sometimes you can push through fatigue and other times it ends in injury. Pretty sure today would be the injury kind.
Neighbors were doing fireworks on the street until very very late. Or early am depending on your view. We vowed to not be here for the next firework holiday. It’s just too much.

notblanche that is such an awesome/freeing feeling to realize that an event passed that wasn’t triggering! I’m smiling for you and for your kiddo I'm a few days late in responding, forgive me, but thank you! It really is wonderful. The early days were so stressful and so scary. It's nice to have found our stride.

Since I last checked in on Friday, I did finish w1 of the beginner strength program that day.
-10min full body strength warm up with Olivia -30min bodyweight strength with Olivia -10min full body stretch with Matty
Saturday was a yoga day.
-30min AFO slow flow with Chelsea
The slow flow was not slow and it aggravated my hip and sciatic nerve by Sunday morning. I needed a total rest day anyway but lol I also want the Summer Launch Challenge badge. Yesterday I stretched. 10min AFO full body with Matt Wilpers and 15min hips stretch with Hannah C.
Today my big kid is at school, but Mh, the toddler and I have the day off. So after drop off, we took the stroller out and walked 1.6 miles. That was nice, getting outside before it's too hot. Then I did spin.
-5min AFO warm up ride with Sam -20min AFO ride with Hannah C. -10min AFO post ride stretch with Hannah C.

This weekend I didn’t do any formal exercise, but we were outside a lot doing yard work and playing with DD. This morning it felt like I had done a ton of squats yesterday, so I will take that as a good sign.
Today I did a 30 min Pop ride w/ Cody. Tomorrow I have to go for a biopsy 2 hours away, so I am going to try and fit something in before, however, H is leaving for a golf trip, so I have to get DD up and to daycare and I’m not sure I will be able to make it work. If not in the morning, maybe after she goes to sleep.

B - coffee with oat milk; Aussie bites L - salad with pineapple sausage D - not sure yet

I was going to suggest this one, we use it at school. We also practice zones of regulation and use Lazy 8 Breathing and Six Sides of Breathing. Both give visuals that support the breathe in/hold/breathe out pattern (you can find them by Googling).

I had a nice NSV yesterday. We went to a picnic with some extended family and so many people came up to me to congratulate me on my half and tell me how great I look and how they can tell how hard I've been working. I had some nice, frank conversations with a few of my aunts about PPD, body changes post-pregnancy, etc which were emotional and validating. It was just really nice to have other people reminding me that the things I am doing are a "big deal" and worth being proud of.
No workout yet today aside from cleaning out and refreshing the sandbox and bowling with the kids. Hoping to get in a ride and some strength work before dinner.

Happy Monday! Yesterday and today haven’t been great eating days, but that’s okay—it was a holiday weekend. I didn’t really excercise yesterday, so I made up for it today with 20 min. on the rowing machine and a brisk 1.3 mi. walk (without the dog 😁).

Like food that’s gone bad. Glad that wasn’t the case!

Today is a day off for my H and me but DS has camp so we just have DD home. In addition to light parenting duties, I had time for a morning workout.
I started the Beginner Strength program. I really like Matty and Olivia even if they can be kind of corny at times. For the main class, the posted playlist didn’t match the songs playing at all which was super distracting for me. The songs that showed up on the screen were the ones the app said would play but it was a totally different playlist than what was actually playing. Also, the class ran over by about 20 seconds. During the warmup class, the camera work was really weird too. For them to make such a big deal out of these programs and for Peloton to call themselves a tech company first, I’m surprised and disappointed at how sloppy they are sometimes, especially given that these were not live classes. The workout itself was good and I’ll keep at it, it was just not the smooth experience I was expecting.

I did something to my knee, it started about three weeks ago and wasn’t that bad but has gradually got worse. After my workout on Wednesday I was in pain last week but resting, heat and stretching seems to have helped a lot. I’m going to give it one more day then try it out again.

I just finished my workout for the day. It was W3D1 if None 2 Run and W3D1 of Liift 4 (without the HIIT portion). It was 92° and humid but I managed a 9:45 pace for my run intervals and 15:30 for my walk intervals. It’s still 1 minute of running to 2 minutes of walking. I like that this program goes a bit slower than C25K in jumping up on run time. I think any time on your feet is good and can help with running. Liift4 was chest/triceps. A hardy fuck you to tricep push-ups. But I did learn a hack from TikTok about putting a resistance band right above your elbows to help push you back up and so I was actually able to do them. All that mindless scrolling finally worked for good instead of evil 🤣

My wifi is spotty in the basement and it’s glitchy if it don’t preload. So the classes are made specifically for the program? I’d have thought they would have just picked classes that were already done that fit the bill.

Squats felt crappy this morning- I felt like I drank all night even though I didn't. I thought I was going to have to lay down after RDLs (it got hot fast), but my incline bench went ridiculously well. I planned to go up to 105 but ended up at 125 to hit the right intensity.
And I have needed a nap since then and no time.

It's been a bit of a crazy week with my brother's wedding but I'm almost caught up on my Run with Hal workouts. It's been pretty hot and humid here but I ran through a wooded path at a local park today and it wasn't bad.
I ran with my cousins while they were in town and it definitely motivated me. 2 of them run constantly so they were enjoying a nice easy run and I was huffing and puffing behind them, LOL. I'm glad I have some more training time ahead of me because clearly I will need it!
I'm also ahead of the pace Hal says I should be at (between 10-11 minute mile; it says my pace should be 14 minutes/mile) but I still feel sooooooo slow!
