Monday seems a good day for accountability updates. Last week I averaged just under 13k steps/day and 178 oz of water/day. I still need to figure out a plan for incorporating yoga and/or weights into my routine. I seem to remember Yoga with Adrienne being popular; is there a similar YouTube channel anyone recommends for workouts with free weights? It’s been years since I’ve set foot in a gym, and after back-to-back babies I don’t want to jump into things too quickly, so something relatively basic would probably be best. I love Fitness Blender for free weight workouts. They always show modifications and they have a great variety of workouts.

shesellscshells, Nike Training Club (NTC) has free strength workouts with and without weights. Popsugar fitness app has a lot of body weight workouts for free. (Apps not YouTube)

Today is a day off for my H and me but DS has camp so we just have DD home. In addition to light parenting duties, I had time for a morning workout. I started the Beginner Strength program. I really like Matty and Olivia even if they can be kind of corny at times. For the main class, the posted playlist didn’t match the songs playing at all which was super distracting for me. The songs that showed up on the screen were the ones the app said would play but it was a totally different playlist than what was actually playing. Also, the class ran over by about 20 seconds. During the warmup class, the camera work was really weird too. For them to make such a big deal out of these programs and for Peloton to call themselves a tech company first, I’m surprised and disappointed at how sloppy they are sometimes, especially given that these were not live classes. The workout itself was good and I’ll keep at it, it was just not the smooth experience I was expecting. 10 min full body strength warmup with Olivia 30 min body weight strength with Matty/Olivia 10 min full body stretch with Matty I was looking at that program this weekend but couldn’t figure out how to preload the classes. My wifi is spotty in the basement and it’s glitchy if it don’t preload. So the classes are made specifically for the program? I’d have thought they would have just picked classes that were already done that fit the bill. I don’t see a way either. The classes seem to be only available within the program and I don’t see any option to preload them. Seems like someone needs to make a SCOTF for those of us who aren’t ready for hardcore.

bunnyfungo, you say you "managed" a 9:45 pace and I'm in complete awe! I can manage a 12:45 pace on a good day! 😂

Dying at SCOTF. But really, the HCOTF calendar is only as hard as you make it. They describe it like a menu- do some or all, up to you. So for anyone who feels like it is too advanced, too much time, etc. - you can scale back and still benefit. ETA I was typing quickly and in hindsight realize my response was super dry when I was actually going for supportive. My point was - if the beginning strength is a PITA, maybe a light approach to the HCOTF calendar would work.

Haha, I love the idea of SCOTF. I’m not doing more than 20 minutes of strength a day. Count me in lol.
Probably just a walk for me today. I have a doctor’s appointment this morning, so no morning workout and H has the kids until I get home so I don’t want to ask him if I can squeeze something in before dinner because he has work.
I also slammed my finger in the door this morning and it hurts a lot.

Back at it yesterday. My 5:30 body pump class was cancelled which was a good thing bc I was a little hungover. Went to the 9:45am class and I burned 100 more calories; I think it's the instructor. She's so good! But how can that be? It's the same class and I'm lifting the same weights. Could the time of day make a difference? I should be at the gym right now but it's pouring rain both outside and down my walls (see my home nightmare post) so I will go after work today. Also need to go to the grocery store and do a little diet reset bc I ate like crap this weekend. I'm going to make a caprese quinoa salad and gazpacho for lunches.

First day back at it since last Friday. We were at my parent's house all weekend. I brought my running stuff so I could run every morning, but managed 0/3 on that. Saturday we took the kids to the parade in town, then both Sunday and Monday it was 80 degrees and 90% humidity by 6 AM so no thank you to that. It definitely didn't help my stress levels to skip my runs. I was at an 11 yesterday when we finally got home. Between being around people all weekend with no alone/down time, super late nights around the campfire, and no exercise, I was DONE. I was super short with my poor family all afternoon but just couldn't shake it. 7.5 hours of sleep last night and a good (albeit hot and muggy) crossfit workout this morning and I feel like a new woman.

Woof. H is back at work from his six week paternity leave today, so it feels like my summer break has finally started and I can get us into a routine now, mostly.
45 minute marathon prep run with Becs 5 minute stretch with Emma 20 minute yoga stacked for after bedtime tonight
Hot damn, that class was hard! I was so done by the end. So done. I haven't taken any of the actual marathon prep runs yet and wowza, that was so good. Excited, but also slightly terrified, to do more.
About to take all three kids grocery shopping. I've got a plan for everything but dinners. Hoping to get my eating back on track as much as possible.
Breakfasts will be protein bars and a protein shake, lunches will be salmon over salad, mid-afternoon snack will be a fruit smoothie or Greek yogurt, dinners TBD still, evening snack either a Greek yogurt or some kind of 100 calorie chip pack. We'll see. So now I need to plan as few dinners so we can eat this week.

When I tap the individual links on my phone, that class opens on the Peloton app. So I hope it'll work for you too. www.pelobuddy.com/beginner-strength-program/

Hi! I haven’t checked in yet in July. I didn’t have any real June goals and don’t have any this month either. I’m just trying to be strength focused this summer since it’s easier for me to fit in several short workouts while I’m home with the boys as opposed to a long run.
We’re still in Maine - we extended our trip a bit but are headed home tomorrow. I don’t have any equipment up here so I’ve just been winging it. I’ve done three short runs, a few barre and core classes and one arms workout using water bottles lol. It’s been fun to have a causal week but I’m ready to be home and back in a routine.

I was reaaaallly not feeling it this morning but since I skipped yesterday’s workout I forced myself to do something. Did a 20min 90 dance run with Matty, it was far from my best effort but oh well at least I moved

Today is my first day back at work since last Friday and I am dreading it. But at least I didn't find out at 10am yesterday that it was NOT an off day, and have to scramble to log in to work, which is what happened to H!
All the kids are here with us, only one of them has camp today, so the other three will be bumming around the house. They're old enough that we can work with them here, but it's hard to get into the work mindset when there are kids having a lazy summer day around the place! No fair.
I'm on week 5 of the Discover Your PowerZones program (I missed most of week 4 while I was away because they don't let you pause, but whatever).
Planning on doing today's HCOF stack, too.
Back to the mines.

Morning! Not sure when I last posted. Not even going to get into everything I did over the holiday weekend lol, suffice to say there was a lot of good food and booze- a couple picnics and a birthday party, 3 brewery visits, 2 meals out, + drinking on the boat. It was a ton of fun. I did get all my workouts in though and only took yesterday off. The HCOTF calendar had those bodyweight workouts scheduled for the end of last week, so I skipped those in favor of more strength workouts, and will save those ones for when we go to the beach at the end of July.
I had my yearly dr. appointment today and was complimented by the nurse for my weight loss which felt good! Got my workouts in this morning - 20 min full body with Rad, 10 min bodyweight with Olivia, and 10 min core with Becs. No time for bike today.
Food will be back to normal today; not sure what I'm making for dinners this week since I haven't gotten a grocery order in yet. I'm going to hit Wegmans after an appointment that I have (45 min away, so I don't get to go there too often). I will have sushi there for lunch for sure, and probably grab something light for dinner.

I ran 2 miles this morning. My legs felt like lead! Maybe because I ran yesterday and it's still quite hot and humid.
I'm hoping my legs start to feel a bit stronger! I always drink protein post-workout but I need to ask my H, the supplement king, about what else I should take for recovery.

It's more important for longer distances, but ideally post-run nutrition should be a 4:1 or 3:1 ratio of carbs:protein about 30 min after cooldown. I always go for protein, too, so I have to be conscious of replenishing the carbs.

Hello!
Ugh I am just not feeling it today. I tried Robin’s Daddy Yankee ride and quit after 10 minutes. Then I tried a 90s rock ride with Jenn and got bored there, too. Quit that and did my favorite arms toning class and called it done.
The weather is super crappy and it’s PMS time. Explains my mood.

This morning: 30 minute country ride with Ally Love
It was fun! I don't really listen to country, but there was a song on the playlist I want to look up now.
This weekend, I realized my true motivation to continue my weight loss efforts, which is that my body is literally breaking down under the weight of myself and the efforts I am exerting in workouts and in life. My feet are sore from the pressure (I usually end up walking five miles a day), my hip is constantly painful despite regular stretching, and I always need a nap. This is more central to my quality of life than just going back to my pre-second kid jeans size, because I could seriously give a shit about that at this point. That said, I might see an orthopedist just to make sure it's not something else going on with my joints and because my mom has pretty bad arthritis.

I was reading something last night that stated you should take your protein before working out because it takes 30 mins or longer to digest and work it's magic. they said if you took after the workout than you are missing the benefits.
*take this with a grain of salt. I can't produce what i read and think it was off IG last night or macrostax or something. it was end of night and i was drinking earlier...(insert shruggy person)
