Morning.

I’m at work. My main department is getting lunch catered in today, so I’m looking forward to that. MH will be here tonight. I’m looking forward to a break in parenting. I’ll pretty much be hiding in my room soon after he gets here.

I ordered mini krispy kremes to be sent to the school tomorrow morning for teacher appreciation week. They are technically their mother's day doughnuts, but they are cute hearts and flowers, so whatevs.

I told Cadence to tell mh to get some for mother's day. She looked at me and said, "Do you want doughnuts or the cake?" (I had been talking about a cake I saw the other day that I wanted).
I said cake and then thanked her for keeping me in check.

I'm working from home today. I woke up with a horrible headache (first cloudy thought was 'how much did i drink last night?' I didnt drink last night...), chills, body aches and sharp pains in my stomach. It has progressed to diarrhea, so I'm glad I'm able to stay home. Im not getting a ton done, but I'm sitting at the table with my laptop.

Cass is still asleep but will probably wake up any minute. I'll let you guys know when she is up. I'm glad she's getting some sleep now because she was up half the night. I need some caffeine.

inthekitty, have they talked about hospitalizing her for pain management and working on a diagnosis? I know they won't prescribe but maybe in a controlled environment? This is all so crazy and I feel so bad for you guys.


tgrimes, that is the best!! Also I didn't comment on your appointment results but that all sounds overwhelming. How are you doing with it? I'm glad he has a good team going. Will this address his ear infections? Has he had them recently?

He has a double ear infection right now.  VPI can cause ear infections so if he tests negative for DiGeorge, hopefully we'd see a reduction.  However if he has DiGeorge, that can cause frequent infections, too.  

I made the mistake of googling his surgery.  Pretty sure I heard the ENT say she'd do the flap surgery.  I saw that requires a 2-5 day hospital stay, terrible sleeping at night, possible sleep apnea, limited activity for a month and liquid/pureed foods for a month.  wonderful.

I slept okay last night, MJ was up alot but not to bad. I did payroll this morning and then went to the dentist with A so I could get my whitening trays. We had lunch and now going to deposit my guys pay. I need to invoice while she naps.

Oh God tgrimes that sounds/looks miserable. At least it would hopefully be a one and done and would lead to much improvement in the future for your poor boy.

And H has no right looking so cute on Cinco de Valentino. 😉

Cass update: she slept in late and I'm grateful for that. She is in better spirits. Earlier in the week she was completely listless and lacking initiative. Barely talking, not herself at all. Today she's got more of her normal personality and her rash is down. So good signs. But her joint pain is still extreme--can't walk or feed herself.

They haven't mentioned hospitalization and last night I was thinking about it because she's so miserable. Scott emailed her doc again this morning and asked again about pain management for her. The OTCs just don't cut it at all. We're rotating a bag of frozen peas around her worst joints. That helps a little bit.

I'm hoping with her acting more like herself today that this will be the last really bad day pain wise.

I'm going to try to get some work done early because she tends to feel best mid afternoon but is so bored then since she can't physically do anything that I think I'll put her in the cart in Costco and just push her around and look at stuff. She's bored of being trapped in the house.

I'm feeling better after closing my eyes for 45 minutes and eating lunch. Im sure its side effects from the 2nd vaccine. I probably would have been okay at work, but id rather be miserable at home.

inthekitty you might try alternating heat with ice. Both help Evie when she has joint pain, its hard to know which is going to help the best until you try both. Im glad she seems to be coming out of this. Did anything happen prior to her getting sick? Any kind of injury, cold, etc?

tgrimes poor H. That surgery and recovery sound awful for a child. Long term, I get it will help, but it will be rough for all of you. At least you finally have some answers that make sense. Sucks it took so damn long to get here!

inthekitty Glad to hear she has a little more pep in her today, but hoping the pain goes away soon. To be down for so long has got to be miserable and boring.

tgrimes Quit it google fingers! It all sounds tough and miserable, but H is a trooper. I hope it won’t be as bad as google makes it seem.

mwhip I tried heat yesterday but that makes her rash burn. So we're just doing ice for now. I appreciate all your advice since you're unfortunately put in the position of being the pro at this due to your poor girl's condition.

No warning signs. She woke up feeling sick Saturday. We've been socially distancing and the places she does go follow health guidelines so I can't even imagine how she got it. On the weekend it seemed more like a normal flu--fever, headache, nausea, fatigue, lack of appetite. The rash started Sunday and the joint pain started Monday. So at first we figured it was a typical illness until all the weird symptoms started.

Cass seemed like she was doing a lot better (still very little mobility, but able to feed herself and in less pain), then she started crying and her muscles feel like they're being cut with scissors. I massaged her for a while and she was due for her meds again and it has calmed down now. So I'm hoping she's over the hump.

Thank you all for your support through this ordeal.

Eta: fucking hell now she's crying out in pain. She is 5 hours away from being able to have more meds.

Madison was absolutely thrilled to go to school today. She was very relieved when I told her Cass seems a little better. She brought home a rock shaped like a heart that her boyfriend wrote her name on and gave to her. OMG it was sweet. She also said she they were careful not to let another boy at school see because he's crushing on her hard and would be jealous.

inthekitty I had a long conversation with a friend who had a daughter with similar medical issues as my DD about the lack of pain control for kids. It’s really terrible. The Tylenol with Codeine is the only thing that has ever helped her and they won’t prescribe it. Adults would never be left to suffer like that for days.
