My heart aches for her inthekitty.

My mouth is very sore this evening. I’ve been only using ibuprofen but I had to add in some Tylenol tonight. The internet tells me that the pain is worst on days 2 and 3, but should start to get better after that. I sure hope so.

kim22 it really is disturbing that they don't do much for pain management for kids. Cass has been writhing in pain for the past 4 hours after having a decent morning. I've tried everything and nothing touched it. I just had to carry her to the bathroom, wipe her, and now am getting ready to feed her.

MH went to Kaiser this morning trying to talk to someone about something for her and they refused. She has an appointment tomorrow afternoon but that's a long time to be miserable.

I feel so bad for her...even at Evies worst, she was never in that kind of pain. I contacted her pediatrician the morning I had to carry her from her bed to the living room and she called in the prescription strength naproxen. I dont understand why they won't give her something stronger than OTC stuff!

Hey! I’ve been trying to keep up but haven’t gotten around to posting. But wanted to send good vibes to inthekitty. My heart breaks reading all that. Are you comfortable with the virus diagnosis or do you feel like there might be more to it? Have you considered the ER? Sometimes they will run more tests to figure things out. And it would get you in front of some other eyes and ears that might pick up on something the other missed. Either way, I hope your sweet girl wakes up feeling better tomorrow!

Also tgrimes I am beyond thrilled that you are getting answers and have a team to help you fight for H! I know the surgery sounds rough, just keep that end game in mind!

My life is crazy busy right now. I’m drowning at work, I’m drowning at home, I’m just drowning. I need to take a week off work and send MH and S away, and get my house in order, laundry done, and just pretend that I have no responsibilities in life...just for a week. Then I could resume life as normal with a renewed vigor. .... but...that’s not real life, so I guess I’ll just suck it up and do what I gotta do, and continue to do everything under pressure and stress. I’ll catch up with life...someday.

inthekitty I’m so mad at these docs that won’t give her something else for the pain. That is terrible that she has to suffer like that and it’s breaking my heart just hearing about it, so I’m sure it’s hard for you. If she’s not better by tomorrow, would the ER be the next stop? I wonder if they would give her something more there? I hate this for her.

lfig I’m sorry life is so overwhelming and suffocating right now. That is a tough feeling. Is there any chance your parents can come and live in your driveway for a week or two to help out? I know the last time they had planned to be there, the visit got cut short. Hope something gives soon so you can catch a break.

Yes! They are coming in a week and a half and I’m going to take full advantage! They will only be here for 2ish weeks because they are headed to the Grand Canyon and then Sedona and then Vegas. But will be back here for 3 weeks in July because my babysitter is taking some time off then.

I think the docs probably are right that this is a weird virus, otherwise I don't think her symptoms would have changed so much over the past week and if it was some other disease I think it would have followed a more clear trajectory with a few symptoms. They brought in multiple different doctors to see her on the two days they were there from different specialties and consulted with others so I think they are probably right. And she is showing signs of improvement in terms of headache, listlessness, fever, and nausea resolving. I just really wish they'd do something for the pain.

MH slept with her last night so I could get some sleep so I don't know how she did during the night. They scheduled her with a FU today when she first went in Monday so I don't know why they couldn't give her some more potent medication to get through the interim.

Maybe I should have brought her back in when the pain was at it's most extreme so they could see her then (her pain wasn't extreme the times she was at the clinic). I just don't know. When it's bad the slightest touch or movement to her worst joints is excruciating so packing her in the car to wait for hours at the clinic seemed like a shitty option.

I just really hope her pain is better today.

I hope today is better inthekitty! If they don't give her something for the pain today, I would definitely push it. This is ridiculous. She should not have to suffer like this

I'm going to. I'm ditching out of work early to join MH at her appointment this afternoon. Even if she's feeling better I want to express to the doctor that she's done horrible the preceeding days and how disappointed we are they didn't do anything to manage her pain.

I told them Monday her headaches were so painful she couldn't sleep (the joint pain was just starting as we were there at the clinic and that's when she first went in a wheelchair). Tuesday when MH took her he put her right in a wheelchair because she couldn't walk.

As far as ER vs. Urgent Care, our UC basically is like going to the ER. It's available 24/7 at a large medical center with a lot of capabilities. If they think your matter isn't UC worthy they send you to the same-day clinic for more run-of-the-mill illnesses.
