I had curbside pick up orders at two stores and workers came out without masks on, which is new. 😐

Lifted? As in no longer required? Correct. Children 2-5 in child care and summer camps are encouraged to wear masks, but it is not required. News broke about an hour ago Were they really previously required? I’m pretty sure that my 3YO niece was the only kid in her daycare (center) room wearing masks for a while. 😐

The statewide mask mandate was for every person aged 2 and up. OCFS told their licensees they didn’t need to comply for kids in their centers, and they would not cite for kids not being masked. That said, if your preschool/pre-k is on school grounds, masks were, and continue to be, required. If you get inspected by DOH and we see kids not in masks, we were supposed to cite it. Other agencies did cite and fine daycares that were not on school grounds. DS2 will continue to be masked. He is the only one in his room that wears mask routinely. He was giving our director lip because he didn’t like that his friends had to wear masks now. He wanted to be the only one 😂 🤦🏼♀️

Will employers be able to confirm that employees are vaccinated? That I do not know. I'm sure they're all different in how they handle it, which again, is why I'm unhappy about how the CDC managed their big pronouncement.

Today I was at Whole Foods and they had their salad bar up again. Nope to that.

Idk. With the investigations from governments around the world on-going, I don't think the Wuhan Lab theory is really that unlikely- if not one of the more plausible scenarios at this point. It depends on which one you are talking about. The accidental escape is definitely plausible and believable. I’ve been on this platform since last summer. A malicious release? No, I find that unlikely because it took out so many of their people Yes, I should clarify that I could see this happening. I think it’s unlikely that it was nefarious. But the idea of investigating the “China lab” seems to come from the (far) right, which doesn’t exactly jive with their dismissal of the severity of the disease. So I guess I just don’t understand how they can believe both things at once. Are they really just trying to find a reason to hate China?. I know the answer is you can’t try to understand the Q minds.

So with that in mind I'm finding that unmasked workers don't bother me much. Other shoppers? Do not trust.

Since vaccine is still under emergency use authorization, its likely not really legal require employees to get the vaccine. But hopefully most employees public facing are vaccinated and not just saying they are so they dont have to wear a mask. It was weird to find out my mail lady is not vaccinated, yet brought me my bulky mail directly to me when i was doing yardwork in the yard without a mask.

They technically are supposed to check for vaccination here but I know there has been quite a few locally that said they refuse to cause divide in their workplace so all employees can go maskless at their own discretion. I was glad to see they got a lot of pushback when announcements were made on fb about it.

Good. Our pediatrician has moderna in stock, but they have so few patients that are 18+ (they will go up to age 24). They’re just starting to order pfizer. I’m hoping that the two manufacturers will be roughly on track to submit the under 12 findings at roughly the same time

I’m hoping that the two manufacturers will be roughly on track to submit the under 12 findings at roughly the same time Early days, but per CNN it may be an early June submission. Moderna says it plans to submit the results to the US Food and Drug Administration in early June along with a request for authorization to use the vaccine in adolescents. It also plans to submit the data to a peer-reviewed publication.

Yes. They just want to be antagonistic about China. I mean case in point. Come on, man 'Feb. 9: In response to criticism from China’s ambassador that Cotton’s remarks are “absolutely crazy,” the senator tweets: “Here’s what’s not a conspiracy, not a theory: Fact: China lied about virus starting in Wuhan food market. Fact: super-lab is just a few miles from that market. Where did it start? We don’t know. But burden of proof is on you & fellow communists. Open up now to competent international scientists.” Yes, call on China to cooperate with a full investigation but screaming, "COMMIE" at them kinda hurts your argument

Dr Fauci is in an approps subcommittee hearing and Rep Watson-Coleman expressed concern about sending her 8 year old granddaughter back to in person school before she is vaccinated and Dr Fauci said that, if we continue the current trends re: vaccination rates and rapidly declining infection rates, it should be quite safe for kids by the fall.
That's something I've been unsure/nervous about but it makes me feel better.

Ok but I don't send my kids to school without a flu vaccine either lol (No but seriously thanks for sharing) oh no! I totally get it, and we don’t either lol. I just thought it was good food for thought at reframing risks as we move toward the fall. Including trying to get people to vaccinate their kids once we can. Sigh.

Does anyone follow Drs Lucy McBride or Monica Gandhi on Twitter? Our local NPR station has had them on and they are pushing for no masks in schools next year. Also, the first has a retweet that it's good for all the cases to be in kids and it's no big deal. My county is the highest in NY by far. I'm not impressed with our local radios pushing this shit I see Gandhi quoted a lot in Bay Area articles and I get the impression that she is less cautious that others. I know she was advocating for CA to follow the CDC guidelines which I gave side eye to

So if you are an asshole and say yes even if you are not vaccinated, you can go without a mask at work.

My town is livid because Murphy is stating that kids may be masked in September because they wouldn’t be eligible for the vaccine yet.

That's a wind out of my sails to find out about. Dammit.
